[Whatever reply she might send goes ignore, because he puts his SFC away and is making his way towards the coral. It'd be a lie to say he wasn't somewhat nervous seeing her again after she'd been gone for quite a while, not that they spoke too much considering what happened in the veil and all, but now she's back and she's before the game even started? This place definitely has a twisted sense of humor, that's for sure. Making his way through the streets from his and Karkat's hive to the plaza isn't a thoughtless trip, the caped seadweller is definitely lost in thoughts and concerns. Ones of which pertain to whether or not he should advise her about future happenings, if he honestly wants to deal with admitting to that again. Vatheon really doesn't assist in making this shit easy.]

[So, when he makes it to the plaza, he approaches the coral, scanning over the area for that bubbly empress elect he's slight in dread over seeing. Though, honestly he's just as relieved. If she's here, she's alive and not just some limp corpse back in the veil, you know, definitely a more preferable condition for her.]

[ Feferi is not the sneakiest fish in the coral reef, but she's specifically hidden her out of sight, just waiting to spot Eridan, waiting for her opening to make a very exaggerated attempt at sneaking up behind him.

Except that she's giggling every other step so it really isn't the most effective method. ]

[Wow Feferi, there's a reason you're an empress elect and not say... Some sort of assassin or anything else that involves sneaking, because you certainly SUCK at it. At first, he doesn't notice her, the normal sounds of the city all around him--but after a moment or two, that distinct giggling? Yeah, that definitely catches him, he turns, perking his fins curiously as he looks at his exmoirail sneaking up on him like some giggle-fit-enduced-pouncebeast. His expression that's rather stern, softens a bit as he sees her. She certainly is before the trainwreck that was sgrub, oh jeez.]

... You really aren't too skilled in the dealin's a sneakiness, Fef. It's kinda downright sad, to be fuckin' frank.

[ Even her attempted pout is a huge failure as she stops and straightens and just flat out laughs at the look on his face. ]

Well excuse me Mister Grumpygills for trying to have a little fun!

[ But she's still smiling as she steps into his space and reaches out to take his hands. She's a little relieved to see the troll she still considers her moirail here. Even if he wasn't a picture-perfect specimen, it's a strange comfort. ]

How are you? Are you enjoying yourself here? I hope you're not causing anyone any trouble!

[He can't help how his expression morphs into something surprised when she takes his hands, but he does nothing to draw them back, instead, just letting her do it. There's an uneasiness about this whole thing, worried that if he does the wrong thing it'll screw everything up. Especially when he realizes that if she is before entering the game, then by her perspective they are still moirails. Oh god, that thought alone almost makes him withdraw his hands, but instead there's just a slight twitch to his fingers.]

You're always just tryin' to hawe fun, so fuckin' ridiculously carefree. Anyway, I'm fine, an'--yeah, this place really isn't so bad once you get used to it, but I'we the feelin' you're rightly enjoyin' yourself. Though, no I'we not been causin' no one any trouble, you don't need to worry about that.

[He's silent for a few moments, mulling something over before:]

Anyway, it'll be better if we get you settled in, that way you're not stuck wonderin' the fuckin' streets. Somethin' hardly fittin' for royalty.

[ Her only response to his totally not suspicious twitching is to squeeze his fingers. Yep, it's definitely still Eridan, at least as far as she's concerned. He hasn't magically morphed into some other troll, and she smiles all the brighter for it. ]

I love it here! It's so pretty, and there's so many friends here, and humans! They're pretty nifty! So don't be so grim. Why don't we just go for a walk instead?

[He rolls his eyes. He is totally not grim, gosh! But man is it nice to see her smile like that, she really didn't seem all too happy being here before, but he could hardly fault her for that. Though, if she wants to go for a walk, he's definitely not against that.]

Alright, fine, a walk doesn't sound too awful. Though I don't know if I agree with what ya glubbed about humans, some a them aren't so bad, but others are pretty cod awful.

[Oops, slipping into those puns again, whatever he does what he wants! Look what you do to him Fef when you're your bouncy, usual self again.]

[ Gripping one of his hands firmly, she starts pulling him off in an arbitrary direction. She has no idea where she's going but she's not patient enough to leave it to him to get going. She's a little thoughtful herself, but her cheerfulness doesn't wane in the least. Only subtle clues, if Eridan even remembers them, might hint that she's actually considering her words for once in her life. ]

While I have you in my net, I wanted to ask you something. You might not remember it, but it's worth a try!

[He really doesn't even start to follow her when she starts on her way, allowing that tug to his arm to be what gets him going. He watches her, his fingers loose in her grip, maybe a twitch to one as he thinks about curling them around her hand, but he decides against it. Fins perking as she starts to talk, he's almost certain he has an idea of where this might be going, while he hasn't been her moirail for a good seven or so earth months, there's just certain things about people of importance you don't forget and as thoughtless as Eridan can be towards other people, those subtle clues aren't something he's ever overlooked when it came to his ex-moirail.]

Oh? Well, go ahead, I'm not goin' to make guesses at what you might or might not be talkin' about.

[ Once he falls in, she slows down to keep a moderate pace. She nods, her fins wiggling in giddy anticipation. You can't keep a good fish troll down for long! Although she had sought him out originally for another purpose, knowing now that she won't be entering the session for a while, she can put it off, at least until she figures out whether he still needs her or not. There's no need to complicate things any more than necessary. ]

Well, the last time I talked to you, we were talking about feelings. It was great! I loved it. But you left before I could get a word either way out of you. I don't know, if you really don't want to tell me anything, I just want to make sure you're okay! I worry about you sometimes! I'd be a terrible moirail if I didn't.

[Oh. Well, that definitely is a different thing he thought she was wanting to talk about. Huh. This, certain is making this a touch more difficult and maybe a bit awkward. He lets out a soft puff of air, which to her, might seem like something more relieved in nature, but in all honesty, it was more so out nervousness towards this whole situation. So, she wanted to make sure he as alright after... Oh, yeah he remembers that conversation, months ago for him, probably hardly a day for her, god damn time shenanigans!]

I remember. Look, it was just some stupid owerwrought bullshit, so don't get your flippers in a knot ower it, alright?

I don't know, I think I am sort of obligated when you got all up in arms when I asked if you were flushed for someone!

[ Clueless. Absolutely clueless. She doesn't suspect in the least that he might be uncomfortable for any reason besides the usual, as used to that as she is. ]

[Oh goddamnit, Feferi. Of course she'd pull that, he lets out a grumble, cursing this situation he's in, knowing far too much when she knows too little and he's not all too sure if he should keep up this facade, or if he should just tell her. For as much of a douchebag as he can be, he still does care for Feferi, despite how they've drifted. Or at least, how they have from his perspective. He swallows and glances to the side, trying to just avoid any and all eye contact that could be possible if she so happened to look back.]

[ Even though it's a tired topic, she's not going to give up. Not yet. A part of her wishes that this had been the start of her session, just to set him free. Finally, a bit of her exuberance fades, her fins settling back against her neck in calm rest. Even if he won't meet her eyes, she looks at him none the less, in between glances ahead of her, watching her step, still with no idea of where they're going. ]

No, it's not just me. We're in this together! That's what this is relationship is all about, being there for each other, knowing each other inside and out. I can't know you when you don't tell me anything, and when you actually started opening up just a little... it felt great! Like I was actually helping you! I want to know that I'm doing you some good!

[Wow this is actually a lot harder than he thought it would be. Here's Feferi, willing to help him and everything just like the old days, just like before that damn game came along and screwed everything up. The thought makes him grasp her hand finally, putting up his usual dramatics, he lets out an unneeded sigh.]

Alright, alright, I'll tell you, since you're so damned persistent ewen though it's really not as big of a thing as you're makin' it out to be.

[He looks to her a second before his eyes wander to look around at where exactly they were--it's all familiar after all, being here as long as he has, but he can't help but wonder if she even has a clue as to where she's heading--which is a question already answered, but still, she almost seems like she has some sort of purpose to her stroll.]

I'm... flushed for Kar.

[Okay, so maybe that wasn't who he was flushed for at the moment in time she's referring to, but hey, he technically isn't lying here.]

[ That gets her to halt in her tracks. Pulling her hand away from his, it falls to her side as she turns to face him, her eyes huge, her fins perked forward. Pushing her goggles up her face, her eyes have clearly gone misty, little wells of light pink tears at the corners of her eyes. For the briefest of seconds it looks like she's about to break into tears for absolutely no reason--

Until she comes barely short of bowling into his chest, flinging a hug around his shoulders with an abrupt and loud squeal. And yes, there are indeed tears on her cheeks, tears of joy. ]

I knew it! I knew it! What did I say? You remember what I said to you! I thought you were spending a lot of time talking to Karkat instead of me, and now it just makes so much sense! Eridan, I'm so happy for you!

[He's lucky that he has stable footing, or that bowling-hug would have possibly knocked him back! He's surprised, most definitely, what a reaction. His own arms reflexively come up, but he stops for a second before he returns the hug, though definitely lacking the energy she put into her side of it.]

[She's so damned happy for him, and she knew it? Yeah, he recalls her mentioning that before, he's well aware of what that might have looked like, but at the time, that definitely wasn't why. But, he's not about to break the illusion, not when she's here, hugging him and being so happy and... shit are those tears?]

Yeah, ha, that was it. I guess I can't get a fuckin' thing past you now can I?

[He sounds slightly awkward, almost like he's trying to remember the lines to a script. He notices this, though, so he quickly adds in before she can make a comment, if she's even able to pick up on that tone in his voice to comment on it with how excited she is:]

Thanks though, it means a flippin' lot that you're so happy about Kar and I.

[ She clings to him tightly for a bit longer than is absolutely necessary before she pulls away to look up at him. Her goofy grin is among the most sincere she's ever given him, and she keeps shifting her weight from one foot to the other, unable to contain her overwhelming excitement. The fact that she's managed to not completely tackle him and drown him in hugs is probably a miracle of some sort. ]

Why would I be anything but happy? I think you two will be great together! Karkat is such a nice person, even if he likes to pretend he isn't. But even if it wasn't Karkat specifically, I'm just...

[ Closing her eyes for just a moment, the last of what few happy tears there were slide down her cheek; she retracts a hand just to wipe them away with her palm before she can look at him again. Still just as bright-faced and eager, a bit of relief shows as well. ]

I'm happy you have someone. It's something I've wanted for you for a long time.

Well, I didn't expect you to BE anythin' but happy, I still fuckin' appreciate it, but yeah, he's great.

[ This feels odd, this entire thing is odd, how happy Feferi is towards him speaks volumes of a difference between her and the Feferi from before, just how much everything goes wrong, how much her opinion of him gets twisted. Her smile almost hurts to see in a way, it feels almost undeserved and maybe it is. Oh well, it isn't something he's going to touch on.]

[He opens his mouth to say something more--but then she speaks and he shuts up quick. Staring at her with a conflicted look, there's almost a fringe of guilt in it if one looks hard enough, but then again, maybe one's just delusional! That's obviously it. Whatever it may be, it's gone in the next second as he regains his usual proud resolve.]

Oh? I'd ask "Why's that" if it wasn't such a dumb bloody question with all things considered. Anyway, was this the only thing you wanted to talk to me about?

[Maybe, maybe he's trying to drag out what he knows is inevitable, that way he doesn't necessarily have to tell her they aren't moirails anymore, it's a lot easier just to pretend like she's breaking up with him for the first time, than to try and play pretend moirail to her. It's also a lot less cruel, or at least, he thinks so. Especially on both ends.]

Nope! That wasn't what I was expecting to happen, but I think it just about covers it!

[ She really has no idea what's happened for him, in the time she hasn't been here, what other-her might have said or done. The future is so uncertain and she was so sure of breaking it off with him when they entered Sgrub, and maybe her other self did. Maybe she still will, in the future. But now she's in a strange, new place, and even if she loves it, it won't do to be shrugging him off. If Karkat's willing to give her best and oldest friend a chance at a quadrant, she supposes she can't really give up just yet herself. Bolestered by how relatively easy it was to get it out of him, she can't help but wonder if things have changed for the best. ]

I'm sure I'll have something to glub about eventually though! It just hasn't even been a full day since I talked to you last, so not a lot has really happened. I was too busy getting ready for the game!

Well that's true. I'll newer get used to time shenanigans ewen if I'we been here for almost a human year.

[Had it really been that long? Fuck, it had, it's almost surreal to think about, that nearly half a sweep ago he killed Feferi and Kanaya and did all of that shit. He stops and ponders on that a bit, looking thoughtful as he does so. It's been so long since he's had to face the fact of what he's done, having basically made some sort of peace with everyone and while maybe some haven't and wouldn't forgive him, he's basically on better terms than when he first arrived. But then, here he is, with Feferi here completely new and fresh and knowing of NOTHING that happens, doesn't even know they aren't moirails anymore and he just... Can't bring himself to say it, can't bring himself to break the news, instead, he's just going to let her keep thinking that, let her be blissfully unaware and as much as he'd claim it's for her sake, it's also for his own. He sure did miss this, being liked and valued by Feferi, having positive interactions with her and the like. He's missed this so much.]

A lot has happened since I'we arriwed here.
