[It's not until dinnertime that Zelda notices there's a peculiar, empty feeling to the house. Usually people at least try to be home on time when she's said she'll be making dinner! Huffing a bit, she goes to check up on the wayward diners, but they're nowhere to be found. She's starting to get a bit ticked, so she picks up her SFC to just call them and demand that they come home... but it doesn't connect.

Zelos and Link are gone.

The first emotion that hits her is panic, and she calls up the Head Nurse immediately to beg for their return. Halfway through her plea she comes to a realization, and by the time she hangs up, she's left with nothing but cold fury quickly hardening into a steely determination. She won't let all this be in vain. She just won't.

She has a small smile on her face when she addresses the network. It just wouldn't do to worry everyone, no matter how bad the news is.]

Hello, Vatheon. It is with deep regret that I must inform you that Zelos and the Link of my era have now left the city. If you believe either of them had anything of yours, please contact me. I will be looking through everything in their rooms, so if I find something that looks as if it belongs to someone else, I will be certain to find the proper owner.

I would not want anyone to be worrying over them. I know they wouldn't want that, either.

[She can't be certain which person Honey was friends with, but a pretty girl like her... she's guessing Zelos.]

That's... That's true. And we should be glad they aren't stuck here anymore, right? What with the curses...

[But it still hurts a little despite that thought. Why can't everyone all be together in a place where no bad things happen?]

[In Link's case, even with the curses Vatheon is better than what he's going back to. For Zelos... she doesn't know. He kept a lot of secrets right up to the end.]

That's right. They're where they belong... the way they're supposed to be.

Mmh... [She takes a deep breath to steady herself, then decides they're better off if she changes the topic a little.]

I'm sorry, where are my manners? My name is Honey Kisaragi. I've only been here for a little over a month, but Zelos was very kind to me right from the start.

It's lovely to meet you, Honey. My name is Zelda.

[She seems to mean it, despite the circumstances. Though she is wondering if Honey was one of Zelos' many "special" friends, but... he'd seemed to be patching things up with Sheena, so maybe not.]

Oooh, what a beautiful name! It's nice to meet you too, Miss Zelda. [She bows her head courteously to the camera.]

[Zelda dips her head in return, smiling brightly. Now isn't exactly the happiest time for her, but there's no reason to be rude!]

Do you think so? It's a bit of a tradition in my family to name the firstborn daughter "Zelda".

Really? Doesn't that get confusing?

Not at all. By the time a new Zelda is born, the first has become queen, so there is a "Queen Zelda" and a "Princess Zelda". If the queen's mother is still alive as well, then she is referred to as the queen mother.

Ooohh, I see! What about firstborn sons? Do they receive a traditional name as well?

[For the boys? Certainly not, boys are silly and everyone knows women make proper leaders. What happens when Hyrule has a king for too long? The whole place goes to war or gets flooded, that's what. Viva la matriarchy!]

We have a goddess based religion, so only the girls receive the name.

Ahhh... So it's a religious thing. That makes sense.

[And now, here comes the question she should've asked sooner, but her priorities can get a little jumbled up sometimes.] So... you're really a Princess?

Yes, though that sort of thing does not matter much here. This is not my country, after all. Please feel free to just call me Zelda.

[She's perfectly adjusted to being called "princess" as well, though, especially since her ancestor arrived in the city. Not that she thinks she'll be here much longer...]

[She smiles brightly and gives a fervent nod.]

All right, I will! It's just that I've never met a Princess before. Do you live in a really big castle back in your own world?

I did, yes.

[She doesn't mean to be short, but it's a somewhat difficult subject. The castle is no longer standing, after all. She has every intention of rebuilding it, but it will take time.]

The houses in Vatheon must seem pretty small compared to that.

Well, yes, that is true. This house here is actually two houses we connected. We... ah, I had a lot of people here at one point.

Oh... [That must mean those people aren't there anymore. Which means she must've brought up another painful subject for Zelda.]

I'm sorry, I... I didn't know.

It is all right. They just disappeared this morning, so it's a rather sudden adjustment.

[Her ancestors are still there, but they've been sleeping an awful lot. Soon, they'll probably disappear too. She's ready for it.]

Oh! Then, Zelos and ah... Link were living in the same house and they both left at the same time? Is that normal here?

Now that you mention it, sometimes that does happen. But yes, they both lived here with me and they vanished on the same day.

[Hmm... another idea to mull over. Do the scientists decide they're done with groups of people just like that?]

That's so odd... But I suppose it's a good thing. It means that when two people are close and living with each other, they may not have to miss one another when it's time to be sent away from this place.
