A year, and some months. I arrived when the month was... April here, I believe. It's June, now.

That's quite a long stint. Have things changed very much during your time here, or has Vatheon always been as it is?

I would have to say the biggest change happened recently, when the barrier around the city ruptured and we were forced to evacuate to the island temporarily.

[Well, that's a bit worrying.]

What caused the rupture?

A weakening of the power derived from the tattoos on the residents brought in from other worlds. The marks were... 'out of sync' so to speak from the coral and thus it wasn't pulling in enough power to keep the barrier going.

A select few attempted to push their own power in to it in an attempt to heal it, and it seemed to work at first, but the next day it began to crack. It was then that some of the locals figured out the issue with the marks.

[So that's why they're brought here...]

Would I be correct in saying that energy from the non-natives is all that's keeping this city alive, then?

That is the assumption, and those events did seem to confirm it, yes.

I wonder what it is we have that the locals can't provide...

I have a feeling that even if we did have all the answers, a solution might not be that simple. It's entirely possible that we may lack the means to get ourselves home entirely.

It's not an entirely bleak situation, though. We have housing, food, and the chance to meet people we wouldn't otherwise meet.
