Who, at all, is experienced with the mechanics of quantum physics or temporal energy? I'd like to do some researching in my downtime.

No rush, of course.

But what are those things anyway?

It's a study into the breakdown of the Universe - its code, in a sense. Matter, energy, physiology and how it all comes together.

Temporal study is more complicated than most. Not even the Fongoids of my home planet could fully grasp the concept of time or reality, so I'd wondered if other Universes were more experienced with this matter.

Um, what? It sounds like it's interesting to look into but it looks a lot more complicated than I thought! I don't think I can understand something like that!

I don't know if there's anything similar to that in my world! I guess the most closest thing is about aliens but that's about it!

What about time travel itself? Is there any folklore you may be familiar with? Theories?

I didn't read too much into it but there was something about time travel in my world. I don't know anything but there was research on it!

Oh, I know one! Would you believe that there's a pokemon God?

A Pokemon... God? No, I can't say I've heard of that at all. Explain.

There's legend around the Sinnoh region about a pokemon named Arceus! He is rarely seen but there have been reports of people who have! So we don't know too much about him!

However, the only real data we have about him is that he is the one that grants all pokemon life! And thus why he's a God!

While I am a researcher and scientist at heart, I'm afraid quantum physics wasn't exactly my strongest subject.

But you've studied it, at least. Do you have any reading material I might be able to occupy myself with?

I have. It's been decades, though.

Sadly all of my materials were destroyed some time before I ever came to Vatheon. There is some in the library, though. It's a bit rudimentary, but it might be a good place to start?

Ah! No, that's entirely suitable, thank you. I'm a little disappointed at just how rudimentary the lexicon are in this place, but... we make do with what we can.

More or less. There's very little we can do when this is all that's available.

The Nostalgia Nook? Can't say I've heard of it.

It's a specialized set of shops that deal in items from the home worlds of people that have been brought here.

You need tokens to get them, which requires work or borrowing from a friend, but I've found it to be worth finding the things that aren't readily available here.

I've heard of certain jobs readily available in the city, but only for restaurant maintenance thus far. I'm an excellent mechanic, if that field is open.

I'm not sure which places are hiring, though. I only really have knowledge of Bar HOMRA since I sort of live there. The owner was recently sent home, though, so I'm afraid my information on their hiring is even less relevant right now.

Oh, I doubt you want this old Lombax preparing you any drinks, that's for sure. But the network sounds like a reasonable course of action, yes. Perhaps even the Emperor or the Colonel have an idea.

It was a suggestion, but I can understand not wanting to act on it. After all I don't know much about your preferences or credentials.

Quantum physics is beyond my understanding, but the ebb and flow of time is certainly a subject I am well versed in.

What can you tell me about its mechanics? How does it work, in your world?

As in most worlds, one can normally only view it from a linear perspective, and most believe it cannot be traversed nor changed. This assumption is incorrect, although it is exceedingly difficult and has a very high potential to be fatal if one does not have a machine or artifact to harness the required energy from the surrounding area. One can of course use magic to travel forward or back, but so few have the internal mana to do so that many may have to sacrifice themselves to afford a chosen one a single trip to another time and back to the original.

Time can be traversed, to an extent. As long as the change is minor, within a short period of time, there usually aren't any severe repercussions. Trying to alter a majour event that changes the course of the Universe itself... yes, that is an issue.

What I'm looking into is what fabricates time in itself. What is time? If it can physically manifest, where does it come from?

Altering major events does not in fact cause any impact to the original timeline in my world, but perhaps yours does not allow for time to split into variant paths? The one issue I have found is that one cannot travel to a time that they already exist in - time's way of preventing disastrous paradoxes, I presume. As for the composition of time, it looks rather like a storm that stretches out unto infinity above and below those who travel through it, although a man I once spoke to described it as more akin to being in the eye of a storm that stretches farther than mortal minds are meant to comprehend. If a physical manifestation exists outside that space, I am unaware of it.

So, like this bubble, we exist in a parameter that is the present, while the force outside that bubble shifts and alters reality to its will. But the bubble can form cracks, leading to spills within our 'safe zone'.

What I want to know is - what would be the consequences of one of those 'spills' hitting a mortal being directly?

What kind of research are you looking to do in the field of quantum physics?

What composes the Universe, and how does time manifest into what it is? What if there was a possibility that energy somehow got inside a living organism?

Well, if that's the case, I think I can help. My studies have given me an extensive understanding of the applications of the various fields of quantum physics and astrophysics to the universe at large.

What are you able to tell me, that could help?

And how is research dangerous, exactly? I don't plan to attempt anything, if that's your concern.

There's a reason certain aspects of technology are forbidden. Men can't be trusted to know how to destroy the world.

If you're worried this is going to be another endeavour into the Dimensionator, don't be. Honestly... it's looking out for my own well-being, above all.

It's going into areas that are better left alone. I don't know what your Dimensionator is, but any brushes with blacktech are to be avoided.

And it will be. If you're sick, wouldn't you want to read up on a cure? If something's broken, you need to learn how to fix it. Just reading doesn't bring any harm.

If I'm sick do I want to read up on how to beg the devil for a favor, or is it better to let a healer do their work?

Science offers no good solutions.
