[Ky was almost as disturbed by the apparent aim of the curse as its effects, particularly now that he's back to himself, in uniform and firmly closed off from the idea that a personal life could be more important than the duties that people take onto themselves. He's been trying to immerse himself in his own duties, but they're not quite enough, there's no conspiracy he's fighting against, no higher purpose that he feels he's serving beyond protecting people -- always a noble cause but he's used to something a little more.

Turning to religion is a thought that comes to mind very soon, but while he prays regularly on his own and can study the words on his own, he comes from a very structured religion and he's used to that structure. He's not sure of the state of religion here, but Ky thinks it's well past time to find out.]

What sort of religious services do people here engage in? Is there some kind of official religion?

[He's certain he's heard the title 'head priestess' bandied about, and Ky's not at all sure how he feels about that.]

Or do people set up churches resembling what exists on the worlds they came from?

[Ky perks up a little with the last question, feeling optimistic about the possibility.]

I don't know anything about churches here or religious services. But I haven't really been paying attention to anything like that.

I add to my knowledge and keep myself strong so I can protect others.

No. Not at all.

I know my place in the world and where I intend to go.

So do I, I just prefer to also serve a higher purpose when I do my work.

I don't know. Can you believe that you have a destiny without faith?

I know it is my destiny to be one with the sky to protect the Earth.

I don't quite know what you mean by that.

But it does sound as though you've found your purpose.

I don't know if there is a higher power out there. For all I know there may be.

But I prefer to stick with what I am already familiar with.

I've found that belief in the higher power out there helps, sometimes, when things seem particularly bleak, or when I'm looking for direction. He is there to guide us, after all.

I've guided myself for this long. I suppose if I need someone then I can find my own belief to follow.

But why be reliant upon your own guidance, which is human, and therefore by necessity flawed?

If I cannot believe in myself, how can I hope to be there for others who do believe in me?

Sometimes you can only believe in yourself so much, and then I turn my faith over to a higher power to make sure that I can do what I need to, what He wants of me.

Arrogance suggests that I feel I am capable of doing anything. I know there are things I can't do.

How can I not say it? I am just aware of my strengths and weaknesses.

Strengths and weaknesses are one thing, but to know that what you're doing is as right as it can be is what's important.
