_{[Tilting his head back, Mao spins on his heel and his SFC swings up just enough to catch a brief glimpse of the bubble following him. It's near impossible to tell just what is going on inside of it but the owner pays little attention to it. When he stops, he leans over the device to tilt his sunglasses down a hair and flash a grin.]}

And Zero~! Come out, come out where ever you are! I want to talk. It's not polite to hide so if you don't show yourself I'll just have to get it out of someone. I know we aren't the only people from our world so it won't be that difficult for me. Just be a good boy and don't keep me waiting.

_{[Then all of a sudden he seems to stop and a puzzled look crosses his face--and he sneers, one hand going up to turn the volume of his headphones up. As he does this, the bubble shifts and becomes less and less untangled until a faded image of a woman settles in its place. It still flickers in and out, constantly threatened by everyone around Mao.]}

While I'm at it, how do I get rid of this? If it's going to keep misbehaving, I'd rather just get rid of it.

[His own thought bubble was only colors or brief images. At the moment? It showed Muraki and then it bounced between green and yellow in color.]

You can't get rid of it. [A beat.] Are you a friend of Doctor Muraki? [The color finally decided it wanted to be yellow with a question mark embedded in it.]

Why not? It's just a bubble, isn't it? _{[He frowns slightly.]} And I'm his roommate.

Don't look at me. It's this place that likes picking on people. [He poked at his own bubble. The colors shifted again to pink, and then gray.] He's sort of a friend of mine.
[Anyone who was nice to Tsu automatically made friend status! His bubble was blue now.]

_{[His own bubble suddenly shifts from the faded image of C.C. to when Muraki was in a sleep coma. Mao almost doodled on him with a sharpie. Almost.]}

I think he's from my world. He seemed to recognize me, but I haven't met him. At least not yet. [And the color stuck to gray, which seems to mean he was uncertain.]
He was the first person I met here and he helped me out.
[And now it was blue. Blue seems to possibly translate to being happy or content.]

So his bubble was back to gray, but he smiled.]

It must be nice. [He grinned like an idiot.]

[ There's a light sigh, to start off with. ] It can't be gotten rid of, unfortunately. [ These damned bubbles are the reason Ciel's been replying exclusively with voice lately. ] They seem to be indestructible.

[ But now, more to the point: ]

Are you well-acquainted with Doctor Muraki?

[ He doesn't bother to ask who 'Zero' is. That would be tactless--and at the moment, it doesn't interest him. ]

_{[Really, he was starting to dislike this place.]}

We're roommates, actually.

It isn't. But neither was becoming sick, or the fairytale nonsense before that.

[ Ciel's right there with him on that one. ]

Ah. And you are...?

I suppose I was lucky in that I didn't get sick. The, ah... Fairytale, was it? I wasn't happy with that.

_{[Because getting tangled up in the coral just plain sucked.]}

That was the most troublesome of them all. [ Although this one is shaping up to be rather inconvenient, too. ]

Earl Ciel Phantomhive. A pleasure, Mao. [ And now that he knows his name, it's time to see how useful he can be. ]

Would you say that you know the doctor very well?

[ These questions totally have a point. And the point is that Ciel is doing some long-overdue snooping. ]

_{[Oh, if only that grin could be seen.]}

You could say that. I don't know him as well as I would like to yet, but we're becoming... friends.

_{[And Mao is perfectly suited for some snooping.]}

[ He was in the middle of making his coffee this morning but his name suddenly being broadcast over the SFC causes an exclamation point to appear in his own little bubble. It takes a while for him to turn his attention to the feed, however. ]

Mao? Well, you're welcome to come by. I'm afraid I'll be here for a little longer but if you want to wait, we can do lunch.

Vatheon's up to its tricks again, isn't it? [He's still using that mocking tone, at least a little. That was the great part of being out of Mao's range AND speaking over the voice option on this device; he wouldn't be able to display his emotions so easily.] A shame that you've fallen victim to it.
