[The video feeds turns on just in time to catch a loud crash and for the camera to be completely covered in black material. Then the darkness lifts, showing a view of a backyard, complete with a splintered, broken wooden fence and Equius, stalking a blue chocobo.]

[Does anyone remember when Darkleer was a chick and was small enough to ride around on Equius' shoulder? Those days are long past, and it's an almost fully grown, towering feathery asshole that is ducking and weaving, all while warking joyously, as Equius chases him around the yard with a saddle.]

Aha, you think I'll give up that easily? You're wearing this saddle whether you like it or not!

[Equius lunges, Darkleer kicks him in the chest, Equius flies backwards and crashes into the fence, sending more splinters into the air. It's hard to tell who is having a better time here.]

Darkleer! [Her voice is chiding but she still lets the chocobo collide with her for a quick feather fluffing session.] Darkleer, that was furry naughty of you, don't throw Equius off like that! [And then she's throwing him off to run to her moirail, pouncing onto his stomach rather than helping him to his feet.] You made it, you managed to ride him!

[Equius is too pleased to even care about getting thrown off and then tacklepounced.]

You saw it, I was riding him!

[She licks his face all over in her excitement, laughing before rubbing their noses together.]

You looked so impurressive! You're the bestest rider I've efur seen, oh yes!

["Bestest rider" might be pushing it.]

[Darkleer, attracted by the noise and sounds of trolls having fun, warks loudly and piledrives into them, flapping his stubby wings and trying to bowl them over and roll around with them.]

[He's her moirail, she can compliment him if she wants to! And she knows how he's always longed to be able to ride.

Nepeta lets out an oof as she's tackled by a large overexcited bird, and then laughs and grabs him to rub her face in his feathers, still cushioned by her comfy moirail. This is so awesome! She wonders if she'll get to hear Equius laugh in person.]

Darkleer, you wretched creature!

[The words are harsh but Equius' tone is playful, and he reaches up and cuffs at the side of the bird's head. Darkleer squawks, biting Equius' hand... and there it is. Equius starts laughing.]

[Nepeta's face is an absolute picture: the widest of smiles as she beams at her moirail, practically basking in the sound he's making. Gamzee was right, it really was a miracle to hear him laugh.]

[The laughter doesn't last long; soon, Equius has Darkleer's head between his hands, and he's affectionately ruffling the bird's feathers. Darkleer warks and kwehs happily, and butts his beak at Nepeta's stomach. He's careful, though, so it doesn't hurt. He's a jerk, but he's not a mean jerk.]

[Nepeta just giggles and does some feather-ruffling of her own, rubbing her face on his fluffy head for a kiss before reaching up and planting one on her moirail's cheek as well.]
