[Dream] Be careful what you wish for
[All Rinoa had wanted was to just take a nap. But really, seeing all these dreams being broadcasted on the network suddenly should have been a warning not to.
She was just... tired. She wanted to sleep, was all.
And so she did, curling up on her bed at her house to doze off. It wasn't going to be a nice nap, though. Oh no. Today, she was going to pay for that nap.
Her dream opens up to an auditorium. Up above on the podium is a woman in a deep black and purple feathery outfit, looking dazed. Down below, laying on the ground unconscious is a boy in a long gray coat.
The woman above suddenly collapses, but not before releasing all of her magic power. It's not an attack, but a "dying" sorceress passing on her powers before death.
Down below next to the KO-ed boy are five other teenagers, along with Rinoa. Vatheonites would recognize Squall and Selphie standing not far from where Rinoa is. Another one of the teenagers, a blonde girl with a whip suddenly shouts something, but Rinoa can't hear it. One moment she's trying to get to her feet, exhausted from the battle, and then she looks up and...
Nothing. For a long moment, everything's just white.
Rinoa then stands up, but something is clearly wrong. She's moving more like a marionette, with someone pulling on her strings. Her thoughts are blank, but she can still feel. She's terrified and panicked as her body moves without her command over towards the boy on the ground.
When she reaches him, she kneels down next to him and lifts up his torso and brings her head down next to his ear. What comes out of her mouth isn't her voice:
"Oh, my loyal knight, Seifer. The sorceress is alive. The sorceress demands."
Someone else is speaking through her, someone much more dangerous and powerful than the sorceress they had just dealt with.
"Find the legendary Lunatic Pandora, said to be hidden beneath the ocean. Only then shall the sorceress provide you with dreams again."
The boy sits up, partly in thanks to words and magic Rinoa - or more correctly the Sorceress inside of her - administers to him. As he gets up and walks away, he says, "As you wish, Ultimecia."
And then, for one last moment, Rinoa is left kneeling there, her eyes empty but slowly widening as, not normally visible to the naked eye but visible in this dream, the spirit - or consciousness if you will - of another woman exiting her body.
In that long moment, Rinoa realizes what has happened to her - what she's become - and manages one single thought:
Squall... I'm scared.
And then she collapses and everything goes dark.
[Upon waking, Rinoa lets out a terrified, blood-curdling scream as she jolts up from her bed. In her panic she knocks her SFC/Dreamberry hybrid thing off of her bed, where it had been laying next to her. It skitters across the floor, bouncing before it has a nasty face to face meeting with the opposite wall.
The last thing it records is Rinoa sobbing as she collapses to the floor, curled up into a ball before the feed cuts.]
((OOC: Rinoa is having something of a panic attack so her responses probably wouldn't be immediate and likely not entirely intelligible at first.
Also, I guess I should credit Square-Enix for this scene and the scene in Disc 3 in which Squall is sent back to watch the scene in Disc 2, since most of the dialogue that happens there is revealed only when he goes back. But yeah, credit to them since I pretty much ripped everything straight from the scenes in the game, including the dialogue. There's a wee bit of interpretation/headcanon in there, but not much.))

I was told that knights have a duty to protect their master. [...But don't knights wear armour?] I understand that you're scared.
[In other words, NOPE HE DOESN'T GET ANYTHING THAT HAPPENED IN THAT DREAM other than the fact it scares Rinoa. Which is the most important thing, right?]

Seifer's not the normal kind of knight. Here, let's sit down. This might take awhile.
[She motions for him to join her sitting on her bed. Luckily she's not the type to really care about other people or men sitting on her bed, and even if she was, she just does not give a hoot at the moment.]
Okay, so, you probably recognized Squall and Selphie, right? That was all of us, fighting the Sorceress. I don't know if Squall's told you anything about what's been going on back home, but basically, she's become a global threat, so SeeD was tasked with defeating her. I helped. It's kind of a long story why, but let's just say I'm unofficially with SeeD for the time being.
Well, we defeated her. It was rough battle, but we won. But you see... when a sorceress dies, she has to pass on her power to someone else. Otherwise, she can't die in peace. So when the Sorceress fell, I... received her powers. I didn't mean to, I didn't even know what was happening. It all went by so fast...
[And that's not even the worst part.]
What we also didn't realize was that the Sorceress we had fought was being controlled by someone else, or so I assume. When I inherited her powers, the person - another Sorceress - came with them. She got into my head and took over my body and -
[She's trying so hard not to get upset all over again. Her hands tightly clutch her sleeping pants as she bows her head, her hair framing her face and hiding any possible unwanted tears.]
I was hijacked. She made me do all those things you saw in the dream. I revived Seifer and let him get away and betrayed my friends. Now I don't know what's going to happen to them or...

When Rinoa trails off, he rests a hand on her shoulder. His voice is calm and reassuring, his demeanour no different from his usual presence. Hey, it's alright.]
You're not Ultimecia.
[That is the name of the Sorceress, right? He doesn't think any less of Rinoa, especially when he doesn't think she's done anything wrong. And while Serph isn't one to give false hope, he feels like he should mention something.]
Squall and Selphie are here. They are fine.
no subject
No, but she used me as an extension. I... don't think she can get to me here - right? - But once I'm back home, I don't know what will happen.
[His reassurance reminds her of the safety Vatheon brought, and the reprieve she was on from the events back home. It also reminds her of what Selphie had told her when she first came here.]
I know. And Selphie's from a time ahead of me, and she said things would be okay in the end. It's just hard to see that right now.

Serph shakes these thoughts from his mind to return his focus back on Rinoa. He knows what it's like not knowing. But he just pushes through it; he has to.]
Difficulties will pass. You can overcome it with your comrades.
[She's not alone.]
They still accept you.
[He does, too.]
no subject
But... there's not much I can do about it here, is there?
no subject
Comrades won't be dragged down; they will pull you up.
[What is the point of having comrades if you don't allow yourself to lean on them every now and again? Comrades are there to support each other. Serph may be the leader and the one many of his Tribe goes to with their problems, but he relies on them just as much as they rely on him. Friendship is sharing the good and the bad.]
You are not alone.
[Serph doesn't ever remember a time without the Tribe. He doesn't know what it's like to be alone. But he knows what it's like to have people who will do anything within their power to ensure everyone's alright. No one should ever be alone.]
Even if you are a sorceress, you are also their friend. I don't think they wish to see you go on hurting. They will be there for you, if you allow it. It's alright to lean on them.
[Whoa look at all these words. Can you tell he's got strong feelings on this topic? He's seen too many people take all their problems alone. Leaders, with hundreds of members within their Tribe, who somehow seemed horrendously alone to Serph, dying with only the Embryon to witness their proud passing.]
no subject
But she thought she knew what friendship and comradeship was like anyway. Trusting others and relying on them, that's stuff that Squall never really -
And suddenly it dawns on her, and she starts giggling softly. Maybe she was more like him than she thought.]
Sorry. I'm not laughing at you or what you said. It's just... that sounds like something I'd tell Squall. I should know better.
[That finally cracks a smile out of her.]
Thank you, Serph. I guess it's easier to remember all of that when you're not the one that's hurting or needs the support.
no subject
Yeah, you better remember that, Rinoa! Too many black haired girls in his life running from the support he offers >:T]
no subject
Thanks for coming over here. And for calming me down. [She looks down at her hands thoughtfully, as if she is expecting them to be warped or something now that she knows what she is.] I wonder, though...
I can't sense the GF or the para-magic I had when I came here, but I can feel these powers. Does that mean I can use them here?
no subject
What is a GF?
[He knows that magic isn't inherent in Squall's world, but he hasn't been told the particulars of it.]
no subject
Maybe it's for the best in some ways. Using GF for extended periods of time can lead to memory loss.
[She was going to have a fun time learning.]
no subject
But Rinoa's words give him pause. He's familiar with the term, Guardian Force, and Squall has mentioned using a Guardian Force to use magic, too.]
Is that why you couldn't remember the events before your arrival here?
no subject
I honestly don't know. It could be. Either that, or my mind blocked it out or just didn't have time to register all of it before coming here. But I'm not really sure.
no subject
Your powers are a part of you.
[He knows what it's like to suddenly have new powers. It'd be painful. Scary, even. But...]
You are still Rinoa.
[He's not scared of her. ...He might be a bit wary if she starts throwing around fire magic when he's transformed, though. #Ice aligned problems.]
no subject
Yeah, that's true. Now with the addition of an unknown amount of powers and a new bad memory.
oh man 69th comment, too
He's sure Rinoa will be fine.]
Will you be alright for tonight?
[He wouldn't mind if she wanted him to stay longer, though.]
bahahaha
[Sleep is just... too terrifying of a thought right now.]
no subject
A walk will help.
no subject
She takes his hand and stands up. The shakiness is wearing off, she notes. That's a plus.]
All right.
no subject
ooc: We can end it there, unless Rinoa wanted to talk to him about something during their walk? :> ]
