We've gotten some new arrivals ta this place as of late, and usually that's all well and good... but one of 'em is really bad news, and everyone should do their best ta stay away from him.

His name is Vanitas. He looks like a boy in black, wearing a black mask... he's a very powerful and dangerous person. Whatever happens, don't try ta engage in a fight with him. Just stay away.

[Gorthan is unimpressed. ... As he often is.]

Hm. Duly noted. But I require that you explain, earthling. What makes this individual so dangerous, as you say? And what powers does he possess?

[How serious is he? No tas, no hick, it's all normal speak.]

At least back when I last saw him, he had a master to obey. But here, he'll do whatever he wants... and he enjoys hurting others.

He has powerful dark magic, along with his own Keyblade. He's fast, he's strong, and he fights dirty. Lightning, fire, darkness, speed, and then there's the Unversed... he can summon these equally dangerous monsters and have them attack whoever he wants.

[As he listens to Mickey's description, a smug and altogether unpleasant smile gradually appears on his lips.]

He sounds like a force to be reckoned with, indeed. First, I ask that you define such terms as a "Keyblade" and "Unversed". Then, you may proceed to tell me of your encounters with him. You have fought him, I assume.

[There is a story of battles here, the sort that Gorthan is perpetually hungry for.]

[DUDE THIS IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE ENTERTAINING, YOU JERK. But he'll comply, just to make sure the duck doesn't put himself in harm's way for the sake of curiosity. He holds out his hand, and after a soft glow, his Kingdom Key D appears in his hand.]

This is a Keyblade. It's a weapon that is normally only given to specially chosen people, who use it to defend worlds. It can use magic, and lock the worlds so no one can enter. However, Vantias' master created Vanitas and bypassed the normal laws and rules of the Keyblade. His master... Xehanort... created him out of the darkness out of a boy named Ventus, a Keyblade wielder.

[His smile gone, he seems pensive, reflecting on Mickey's words. He also seems absolutely fascinated by the Keyblade.]

What an interesting weapon. I assume it is even more than a magic-summoning staff, is it not?

This idea that worlds can be locked... For what purpose? Who would want to enter them, and why?

[With a flick of the wrist, the Keyblade is gone, like he had never even summoned it.]

The Keyblade can unlock and lock almost any lock. It's more powerful than any magic staff, and has its own unique magic that mages and wizards can't learn. They're also in tune with people's hearts, and can help restore those who have lost their hearts.

As for the locking of worlds... it was for their own protection. The fact that other worlds exist was supposed to be a secret, in order to prevent that knowledge from falling into the world hands. People with desires for power would want to seek out these worlds and conquer them.

[Gorthan watches with interest even as the Keyblade disappears. Truly this power is unheard of...

When Mickey is done speaking, there is a loud, booming peal of hearty laughter coming from Gorthan.]

I see, I see. People with a thirst for new worlds to conquer and dominate... and you have met some of them, I assume. And this... Vanitas is one of them? In that case, he and I should get along.

[Mickey is glaring as much as a tiny mouse can glare.]

This is no joking matter. He does not 'get along' with anyone. He can and will hurt you if he sees the opportunity to. He has no reason to help you or aide you in any way, and only cares about himself.

He's the guy who was asking about Ven?

That's right. He wants to find Ventus in order to create a dangerous weapon with him, and we can't let that happen.

...

Ven said- he wanted to be whole.

What Vanitas really wants is complete power of the X-Blade, and he will destroy anyone he thinks is in his way to get it.

...if that's really true, you think everyone staying away is gonna solve anything?

[Sigh.]

Maybe not, but if we can reduce the amount of damage caused and peopel he'll hurt, the better.

Is that so?

[He is a little impatient and disappointed that he hasn't gotten his story yet.]

Tell me of how the two of you first met.

What about Ven? He's been asleep, right?

... I first saw him in battle with my friend Ventus. I didn't know who or what Vanitas was, but I knew he was using the Keyblade for the wrong reasons. I helped Ventus out, but Vanitas ran away. I couldn't stay long... at the time, I was using a Star Shard, which allowed me to travel through worlds, but I didn't know how to use it, so it would teleport me randomly.

I fought him again in another world, but he won that battle, and I'm sure that if my friend Master Aqua hadn't come to my rescue, I wouldn't be here talking to you. By the time I understood just what was going on... Vanitas had taken over Ventus' body, and was going to use his power to destroy Aqua and his friend Terra. We managed to defeat him, though Ventus' heart was lost... and, I as hoping that was the last we'd seen of Vanitas. While he was around, he left destruction in his wake, and manipulated all of us into fighting each other.

Yeah, and I'll be keeping an eye on him.

All right.

And if Vanitas does anything to you, says anything to you... let me know. I'll come over and help.

I'd be more worried about Sora if I were you.

I'm worried about everyone, and that includes you.

[You're his friend! ... Sorta. Not even using 'ta's or 'ya's or anything.]

Yeah, but he's the hero, remember?

None of you is less important than anyone else. I'm going to defend every one of you with everything I've got.
