[The landscape is cold and snow-covered, but waves from an equally cold ocean crash near by. In the air, seagulls cry as they fly around, and oddly seem to be getting louder as a voice seems to narrate his thoughts.]

Fendel... This place is as cold as ever. But this is the enviornment that person lives in...

Cold hand, warm heart, as they say. That's right...

[The seagulls reach a fever pitch with their cries, causing Hubert to practically shriek.]

But why are all those birds gathering here?! Go away! Shoo! Shoo!

[He starts flailing frantically at them as another voice calls out:]

Touuuuu-tou tou tou! Gather, seagulls! Touuuu-tou tou tou!

P-Pascal? This is bad! If she sees me now, it'll look like I'm stalking her! I have to hide!

[Hubert dives behind an outcropping of rocks as Pascal wanders on to the small outlet of land leading to the water. The seagulls the Amarcian is calling follow her. She appears to be attaching something to them.]

Alright, I'll be counting on you, seagulls. Ok, will it be fine like this? One, two... fly away!

[The seagulls take flight.]

Ohhhh!

[Hubert just sort of stares with a slight twitch to his eye, confused as ever. It's clear he's thinking that he doesn't understand her. Still.

Still unaware that he's there, Pascal takes out a device and begins to fiddle with it, a wrench crank here, a poke there.]

Let's see, let's see... I wonder if it works...

[It begins to make telephone-like noises, "ringing" until eventually the line is picked up. From where Hubert is standing, though he (and the viewers) can only hear Pascal.]

Oh! It works! Hello? Sis? It's me! It's working! Perfectly!

[Hubert sort of lets out a sigh, exasperated that Pascal always seems to be so over dramatic.]

What? Oh, yes, indeed.

[There's a laugh from her, and Hubert's expression follows suit with an amused and somewhat affectionate smile.]

Yes, it was a big shock. I'm not too sure how long he had this planned.

[Well now he's curious. The conversation has turned to something interesting.]

I was surprised, too. I didn't expect him to propose.

W-what? No way, did some one propose to Pascal?

[He blurts it out loud (though hushed), but Pascal doesn't seem to be paying any attention to what's behind her.]

And we should also be expecting a baby soon! Ain't that great?

WHAAAAAAAAAAAT?!

[THAT is much louder, with Hubert unable to contain his shock, and Pascal finally turns.]

Hm? Is some one there?

[Hubert slaps both hands over his mouth, and then after a hesitant pause, makes a... not too convincing seagull noise. Frankly it sounds like that seagull is dying. But Pascal buys it.]

What... it's just a seagull. Ah, sorry, sorry. But you know, when two people always stick together, it's not strange that kind of thing happens, right?

"Always stick together"? Don't tell me, the cap--

So this time, er-- eh? Sis? Siiis? Hey, sis!

[Suddenly static cuts in to their conversation, disconnecting Pacal from Fourier.]

Looks like I lost the connection... I guess there's still some progress to be made. No, wait, I should still...

[Pascal fiddles with (and eventually starts making smoke come out of) the device, but Hubert is too lost in his own angered, irrational thoughts to care.]

I've been wondering for a long time whether you were a ladies' man. But to go as far as to put your dirty hands on Pascal... And even worse than that, you dared do such outrageous things even though you're not officially married yet!

This is unforgiable! Absolutely unforgivable! GYAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

[All at once Hubert bursts out from his hiding place and goes tearing away, startling Pascal.]

Wha?! What was that?!

[She turns, just barely catching a glimpse of Hubert's back.]

Just now... I feel like I saw little bro running away...

[The scene changes breifly - a small run down bar in the same port town. Captian Malik is sitting at the bar with a drink in his hand as the door slams open, Hubert furious and seething.]

CAPTAIN MALIK!

Oh! Hubert! It's been a while! How nice to see you here!

[As Malik is talking, Hubert is already taking out his dual blades.]

Come sit here and have a drink! That one there is quite superb--

Eat this instead! INSTANT WALTZ!

[The Mystic Arte slams right in to poor unsuspecting Malik, sending him right off his bar stool.]

Why you... quietly drinking during the day, is that the way a future parent should act?!

Hah? Who the hell's gonna be a parent?

As if you didn't know! There's a limit to playing dunb! If she heard you she'd really be upset!

Looks like you're prone to jumping to conclusions! Just listen to what I have to say first!

[Nope, Hubert's not having it, and he's already preparing another attack.]

I've already prepared my counter argument! EXPIATION!

[The explosion sends Malik flying again (and does quite a bit of damage to the bar) but by now Malik has had enough of being tossed around by an impudent little military brat. He gets his own weapon out.]

Looks like your stubborn head needs to have a taste of your own medicine! Eat this! ETERNAL SERENADE!

[It's more than Hubert can take, and when he hits the ground he hits it hard, enough to knock the wind from him.]

Honestly... what a brat. So, can you stand up?

[Malik at least has the decency to help him to his feet, but by the time he does the poor teen is damn near in tears.]

Why? Is that what makes you a winner? I get it. I get it already. There's no way I can win... neither as a solider, nor as a man...

I see. I think I get it.

That's enough. Finish me off...

[Resigned to his fate (and to never win the heart of the one he cares so damn much about), Hubert puts an arm to his face and willingly sobs right there in front of Malik, leaving the Captain to just sigh.]

What a troublesome brat...

[The door opens, and Pascal calls out:]

Little bro, you there?

[Sophie, Cheria and Asbel (in a mask, for some reason) enter behind her.]

He's here.

You guys...

Captain, what happened?

I don't have anything to say to suspicious people like you.

Eh, but I'm--..

[Cheria takes matters in to her own hands, and goes to whisper the truth in Malik's ear]

What the hell are you doing you moron?

I'm not too sure myself...

[And Hubert is STILL crying.]

Hubert, why are you crying?

It's fine, just leave me alone.

We can't leave you alone. What's wrong? What happened?

Pascal, that kindness of yours is the most painful thing for me right now...

What... ?

[Still tearful, Hubert turns to Malik.]

Captain Malik, I beg you, please make Pascal happy.

What? Why should the captain make me happy?

Why, you ask? Isn't that natural? I mean, proposing, wedding... and having children...

[Nope. Pascal isn't getting it. She just stares and asks:]

Who did?

... you did. With Malik.

[Another blink and-- Pascal starts laughing.]

No way, no way!

"No way, no way"? But... I heard you earlier, saying...

What, you were listening? I was talking about my friend Fermat. There's no way it could have been me!

What?!

[There's a collective noise of exasperation at Hubert, but the dream more or less ends there mainly because a bunch of randomness happens thanks to Asbel's mask and Malik dragging them all off to take care of a monster problem.

However Hubert doesn't wake up right away, and should anyone look to interact with him in the dream they'll find him at the bar alone, lost in his own thoughts.]

((ooc: key - Hubert, Pascal, Malik, Sophie, Asbel.

End of the dream is interactive, or you can talk to him after he wakes up!

Taken from the Tales of Graces f: Winter Drama CD, slightly tweaked and edited to work for dream purposes.))
