[ Well, it's taken a little while. But a warm towel and a trip to the Welcoming Committee later, Kairi has a lot better of an idea as to what's going on here than she'd had just prior to that. It's a relief and a worry all at once, to know that she's not alone in this. To see so many others stuck here is kind of sad--but still, they're making the most of it. A lot of people seem happy.

And that's a good thing. She's a firm believer in positivity helping you make it through anything.

Which is why she's got a smile on her face when the video clicks on; she's honestly delighted at the prospect of meeting so many new faces. And at the possibility that maybe, just maybe (however unlikely) her long-lost best friends might be here, too. In the very least she's gotten off the island and is now living an adventure of her own. It's daunting as heck, but pretty exciting, too.

And oh, yeah! This thing is recording. Uhhhhh. ]

You know, one of my friends used to be convinced that there was a whole other world under the sea. But she said you'd have to sprout gills and fins to get there. Wait until I tell her you don't need to! She won't believe me.

[ Her grin warms, and she waves. ]

Hi, if you're watching this. I'm Kairi. And I guess it's pretty obvious that I'm new, huh?

[ Being the new girl again. At least she's experienced this feeling before. ]

I've gotta thank the Welcoming Committee for that map, you guys are lifesavers. But all the maps in the world aren't going to materialize a couple of boys out of thin air. So I'm wondering if anyone seen a guy named Riku, or... or...

[ She frowns, furrowing her brow in mild annoyance. She still can't remember. ]

I don't know what his name is, but he'd probably be hanging around with Riku.

So, has anyone seen them? I need to give them a talking to.

[ The grin turns into a playful smirk, and then the transmission ends. ]

[He was about to say something to her, possibly just run right to her and possibly apologize for his behavior the last time when he caught most of what she said. She... doesn't remember, does she.

The named friend is silent for a while, just... staring at the feed before he even dares to flick on his own so he can respond. With his thoughts going far beyond the legal speed limit, it's probably the better idea he's had of staying silent for a moment and collecting himself instead of letting his words get the better of him again. When the audio feed begins, there's only three words said:]

... You mean Sora.

[At least he doesn't have to ask what the last thing she remembers is. All the same, ouch. Way to go, powers that be...]

[ A year and change have gone by, and he's changed so much just by the sound of his voice alone. But it warms her, makes her break out into a bright, sunny grin and hold the little SFC closer to her to get a good listen to him.

She's about to tease him for not calling or writing, but, well... his words stop her short. Now it's her turn to think at a rapid pace, mind working to try and connect the dots with the name he's provided. And it.. feels right.

Kairi nods slowly, her hand fisting and rising to lay across her heart. ]

So that's his name. I was wondering. Is he here?

[ Maybe so. But she in turn is just happy to be somewhere one of her friends is. So now that she's hearing him for the first time in ages? He's getting teased. ]

And what about you? Are you really there or am I hearing things?

[ Cue to appear on video por favor, Riku. She wants to get a good look at where you are. ]

[...It's just one surprise after another here, isn't it? Axel considers the broadcast briefly, cautiously, before he hears her start to speak a little more.

[--Maybe her memories are just different. And while he may not really care too much for Kairi, or know her all that well, he still can't say that he appreciates this place screwing around with memories, whether they be his own or not.

Kairi's important to Sora, after all...and therefore important to Roxas.

His voice is casual now.]

I've never known someone to forget their friend's name.

[A year for her, but two years in total for him. He stares at the SFC for a moment, debating what to say at this point. On one hand, it's Kairi and she'd want to know where her friends are and be with them--just like any good friend would. On the other, well... he's still nervous about giving away his position in this town even though he's on the defense force.

It's with a faint sigh that he replies:]

He was the last I checked.

[...then the feed flickers briefly as he adjusts it to video. There he is, not too far from the plaza on his usual route on his patrols. ...Was that a faint smile?]

Well, I hope you aren't seeing things, either.

Welcome Kairi. I am Minnie. [Small cursety.]

Why yes, Riku is here.

[And not too long after Minnie is...]

Kairi! Yer here too?

No worries, I'm new as well. Shinichi Kudo- High school detective, at your service. Unfortunately I can't say for sure if I have or haven't seen your friends, could you describe them?

The last you checked? [ Now she's confused. ]

You haven't heard from him in awhile, have you?

[ He didn't really need to say anything more about it for her to be able to pick up on that. She knows him better than she knows anyone in all the worlds (except maybe for Sora). So reading between the lines of his words and figuring out his meaning isn't hard at all.

Her expression doesn't falter or hide the disappointment that's only visible in her eyes, because she doesn't want to make him feel bad. He's probably looked all over the place for his friend. So she smiles a little, and even manages a laugh. ]

Unless I'm hallucinating you after you've grown a foot taller.

[ Now she really can manage a grin. ]

You shot up faster than a weed! [ Her looks softens. ]

It's good to see you. I'm going to go find you, okay? Stay right there.

[ Not different so much as disconnected from each other. The links are still there, but they've become scattered across her heart. If she was aware of what'd went down in the castle far, far away, she wouldn't be happy at all.

But she isn't, and to her, this is the voice of someone she's never met.

The result of that is her rather sheepish response:]

I know it's pretty lame, huh? It's weird... I feel like I should.

[ She blinks once, then twice. Then breaks into a bright grin. ]

Thanks. It's nice to meet you, too!

[ While they've spoken already, the relief on her face is evident. ]

You don't know how glad I am about that.

[ Wait! How does he know her? She smiles, feeling confused. ]

Yeah! And sorry to ask, but have we met before?

Sort of... kind of? Ah, it's a long story. Don't worry about it right now.

The name's Mickey Mouse, and I'm a friend of Sora and Riku!

How are you liking it so far? [ A detective? That's cool! ]

Oh, wow. Can't say I'e ever met a detective before. And well--one of them's here. But the other one...

[ She tries to remember, and shakes her head. ]

I can't remember. Only that his voice used to be there, and now it's gone.

Okay, if you promise to tell me about it sometime.

[ Well, she'd already been set to make friends. But learning he's already friends with her BFFs? All the more set on it now. ]

[He smiles, but then grows quickly serious, looking her over as best he can. If it's true that the timelines are messed up...]

This might sound strange, but... can ya tell me what happened... where ya were, before ya got here?

[he makes a small 'hmmm'ing sound, and then nods.]

Thanks... I promise it'll make sense in time. I gotta admit, I just got here here a little while myself, and I'm a little puzzled too. But the gist of it is, we got sucked into this placed called Vatheon. It's some kinda underwater world.

He was asleep like the "lazy bum" he is when I left for work.

[He shrugs. Yes Kairi, he actually has a job, sort of. Though for her to hit the nail on the head like that without meaning to... That was almost laughable, since it was definitely like her to do so. She always was one of the few people who could read him with ease.

A smirk crosses his lips at the hallucination bit. Heh, if only it were a hallucination.]

Fair enough. Guess I hit that growth spurt and caught up with Dad a bit.

[...Light, how long has it been since he's seen home?]

You don't have to. You're actually on my route.

I hope so. [ Then she nods, her grin back on her face. ]

So I've heard. It's pretty amazing to be living in the sea like this.

[He fidgets around, pulling off one of his gloves to show off his.]

[ This is where her look becomes devious. ] Tickle him awake or something?

[ And, well. LOOK AT YOU, MAN. She laughs a little. ]

"A bit"? I think you're even taller than he is by now!

[ A long. Long time. And she's missed you. Missed you both. ]

Which direction are you coming from, then? I'll meet you.

[ Not waiting here, BFF. Sorry. ]

That's good! I'm all set for an adventure. And I'll do the best I c--

[ Wait, what? Her eyes widen, and she pales. A tattoo? ]

My parents are going to be so mad. [ But... ]

It's kind of pretty. Are they all the same?

[He chuckles a little, putting the glove back on.]

We just wake up with 'em on. They're pretty much the same, just in different places... and the shopkeepers give us free supplies when we show 'em the tattoo. Means somethin' special to 'em.
