[ Gracia hasn't been feeling very well the past couple of days, but it's nothing too serious that she can't bounce back. So the SFC begins with a shot of her smile, as she adjusts the communicator to a proper position. The view behind her is that of the forest sphere, vibrant greens and blues interacting together in a calming harmony. When she bends to get something from the ground, the lake can also be glimpsed.

Before she stands up straight, Gracia speaks in a hushed yet excited tone. ]

Vatheon, I have some wonderful news! Do you remember the stocking that was given to us during the winter festival of Christmas? [ The redhead looks back at the SFC, mischievously. She's trying to hold back her laughter, and she's still bending. What could she be holding down there? ]

[ You'll get your answer soon... ]

I got something very special in mine, too! Let me introduce you to my new friend!

[ She fails to hold in her laughter as Gracia finally stands up straight, revealing a very adorable brown puppy! With a small, button nose and it's tail wagging all around, Gracia had good reason to have her mood lifted, even if it's just a tad. The puppy is energetic and wiggles around in her grasp. Gracia walks back to the SFC and allows the puppy to lick the screen. ]

Now, I have three pets! [ She cradles the puppy in the crook of her right elbow, and uses her free hand to hold the SFC away from her. What you see next, is an adult chocobo colored with a vibrant deep blue. ] First is Feng Huang! My friend Sel gave him to me for my birthday, when he was still a small chick. We ride together every day!

[ She returns the SFC to wherever it was resting on. She cuddles the puppy, now nestled underneath her chin, against her chest. ] My father also gave me a foal some time ago, so she's in the stables. She's growing up very well, and her name is Firelight. This one...[ Gracia raises the puppy up so that for a moment, you can only see its legs. She smiles. ] It's a boy! So, Vatheon! The new year that we celebrate is coming soon, and now you all know the newest friend I've made!

I'm going to name him Futon! Because he's soft and warm like one!

[ ...Gracia logic. Makes sense all the time, okay. She waves, and then makes the puppy wave back, and then turns the feed off. ]

heh, Futon? That's a pretty interesting name for a dog...

[That Chocobo is pretty interesting to him too - he's never seen something like that before. His first instinct is to wonder what sort of ostrich that is.]

Vell. Pets are somezhing you can alvays rely on, at least.

[Motochika may not be laughing, but there is laughter in his eyes and amusement in his tone when he speaks. Gracia is certainly one of a kind, so curiously different from her father at times.]

Futon -- a unique name. Have you sorted out a collar for him?

[It's hard tell with all that wiggling and fur.]

[ On the contrary...Gracia laughs and lets Futon go, watching him run around in a circle before going back to reply. ]

I'm sure it will still be fun to have them around! I've never had this many pets before. It's an exciting experience! [ Yeahup, she's one of those people who'd definitely thrive on the chaos three pets would bring XD ]

[ Said Chocobo harks in the background and looks away, while Gracia is preoccupied with playing with her new puppy friend ♥ ]

You should come and pet him sometime, Aki. He really is the softest animal I've ever touched!

[ Gracia looks fondly at her chocobo and then back at her new puppy, before smiling warmly at the SFC. ]

That's true. But I rely on people too! Like father, and Motochika.

[ Gracia's eyes mimic his own gaze. She whispers for Futon to wave at Motochika, and while he doesn't do this on his own accord, Gracia helps him by shaking his little paw at the SFC with her right hand. She laughs, quite content just sitting by the forest with her pets. ]

I didn't know I needed one so soon! What are they for?

Humans... Zhey are difficult to rely on at times.

I bet he is. I'll have to come see all of your pets sometime, Gracia.

Have you raised a dog before?

[ She seems really excited at the prospect of that; her eyes grow wide and they're definitely expressing what she doesn't verbalize. She's proud of her babies, and she loves having company around! ]

Just tell me when you want to see them, and we'll come straight away! We'll have a lot of fun!

[ After she positions Futon so he doesn't sit so awkwardly on her lap, Gracia chuckles sheepishly and looks away from the SFC before she replies. ]

No. This is my first time to have a puppy as a pet. Aki, are you experienced with this kind of thing? [ Gracia perks up! Maybe he can teach her something new?! ]

[ The redhead tilts her head slightly to the side. Futon quietly whimpers in her arms. ]

Hmm...what do you mean?

Zhat humans often are unrelyable und go against zheir own vords more often zhan not. Some are even being paid to do just zhat.

It ist somezhing you vill never see from an animal, however.

Yeah, I always wanted one when I was a kid and we had a dog in our dorm back home - he was a white Shiba named Koromaru.

[Fond memories of that dog are enough to make Akihiko smile.]

A dog's a pretty big responsibility so I'll help you out with anything you need to know about caring for yours.

... wow, miss, that's a lot of pets...

[He doubts he could handle one, let alone three...]

[ Gracia looks more confused than before. She pouts, brows furrowed in thought. ]

I...understand the first part. [ How could she not? She knows one or two people who've let her down. ] But, to be paid? You pay people to break promises and go against their word?

Wow! [ She's delighted; so he really does know what he's talking about! Gracia sighs almost dreamily. ] All the things I could learn from you about how to raise a pet dog...

[ At the mention of responsibility, Gracia's expression shifts as fast as lightning. From excited, she turns extremely determined! As if she was out to prove ~~her father~~ someone wrong. She can be responsible! ]

Tell me everything, Aki! With your knowledge and guidance, I promise I'll raise Futon to be the best dog in all the land!

The more the merrier though, right? [ Gracia laughs and allows Futon to run around for a while. The chocobo behind her walks forward and bends his long neck down to her level, as she sits on the grassier parts of the forest. She nuzzles Feng Huang, and then smiles back at the SFC. ] I don't mind having one or two more! They're all my friends, you see!

Indeed. Zhey are more commonly known as Spies. Zhey pretend to be your ally, but as soon as you turn your back on zhem, zhey vill backstab you vizhout hesitation.

[...and that's how Medic sees the world: Spies everywhere!]

[ Now that was something Gracia was familiar with! ] Ninjas, you mean? Ninja's are spies, I'm sure...they hide in the darkness and stab their enemies when they're not looking!

[ Yeahup. She also includes literal stabbing in the back for this \o/ ]

Ninjas?

Nun, vhere I come from, zhere are no ninjas. But enouff Spies, I assure you. But zhey seem very alike, zhat ist true.

Did you encounter many... Ninjas so far?

I see, so you come from a place besides Japan! The West? [ She's a bit excited at the prospect of that; even though she's been in an extremely foreign place for quite some time now, Gracia's fascination with all things new and unique and interesting still holds true. ]

[ She nods. ] I had to fight a lot of them when Hideyoshi's wife faced me in battle, once! She was a ninja, I think. But she wore bright colors. I wonder how she blends in the dark that way? [ A tilt of the head in brief curiosity, before Gracia's smile returns. She looks proud. ] I still defeated all of the bad spy ninjas, though!

Ja. I originally come from Germany actually. Zhough I haff been spending most of my time in ozher countries actually.

[He tilts his head.]

You fought a lot, it seems.

[She's definitely determined and it shows - how could he ever say no to that? If she's willing to work hard, Akihiko's more than happy to guide her through raising a dog!]

How about I show you instead? I'll come over and we'll work with him together.

[Well, he has to admit she has a point there. He smiles, laughing a bit as he waves to Gracia's pets.]

Yeah, you're right... it's not so bad having a lot of pets. They can be just as close a companion, too...

When did you get them? I'm assuming this is shortly after you arrived here?

'Exciting experience' is one way of putting it, I guess...

Do you have any pets, Ren?

[ Her eyes grow wide. She leans forward abruptly, Futon yelping at being accidentally shoved into from behind. ]

Right now? Really?

I've never heard of that place before. [ Exactly the reason why Gracia is still so incredibly interested in seeing the rest of the world - the West wasn't just the West. It was a whole other area filled with different lands! Different people, different cultures! ] Wow, you must be very smart! You've been going all over the world already...I'm so jealous!

[ She nods again. ] Back home, there's war everywhere. I was fighting to figure out what it meant to achieve peace. [ A pause. ] I went with my father. I fought for him and his dream.

[ Feng Huang stares into the SFC and harks once. ]

Hmm...[ She places a slender finger underneath her chin. ] I received Feng Huang when he was still a baby, last year on my birthday. So it wasn't exactly after I arrived here. I've been in Vatheon for a long time now! About a year and a half! [ She smiles widely. ] Close to two? I don't really know, exactly.

Sure thing - no time like the present, right?

[ She half-squeals and half-laughs, standing up and spinning Futon around with her for a few times. ]

No time like the present! Thank you, Aki! I'm in the forest, near the lake! Futon, did you hear that? You're going to make a new friend and he'll help me take care of you! [ She isn't even speaking to Akihiko now; Gracia is clearly addressing Futon as if he could actually speak back. Well, he does, in his own way. The puppy barks and wags his tail, then walks around and about afterwards. ]

[She seems pretty excited to have that dog - but can he blame her? It's pretty cute how excited she's getting over it.]

Sure thing - I'll be there shortly.

Probably not all over zhe vorld, but I haff been to several plazes at least.

[But he still nods.]

Var, ja. I see vhat you mean. Real vars can be pretty bozhersome. Vhile I do not mind zhe fighting, I still prefer to have some regulations in plaze as ve haff it in our private varfare. Zivilians zhat haff nozhing to do vizh zhe matter at hand should not be drawn into zhese zhings after all.

Wow... a year and a half, huh...?

[That causes Shing to go quiet for a bit, apparently lost in serious thought.]

That... really is a long time to be in this place. I wonder... if I were here that long... what would happen back home...?

Just the one—a Starly named Diane. Though I think of her as more of a companion than a pet, really...
