[Had anyone given it thought, they might have noticed Jade has been missing for a few days after the dream issues. No matter, he can be seen in plain view jogging towards the center of the town, noticeably missing the blue uniform he's always wearing. Instead, it's just black pants and a dark blue shirt.

Why he's jogging can be answered if one just looks and listens. There's a noticeable noise when his left foot comes down and any onlooker can see said leg in encased in a metal boot that stretches up to his midthigh. An opening in the front reveals a thick bandage wrapped around said limb. The entire boot seems to be robotic, clicking and whirring when Jade eventually stops near the coral.

Taking out his SFC, Jade makes a quick call to one Alister Azimuth.]

Ah, Alister, the boot seems to be working fine. I haven't taken it off to change the bandages thus far, so I'll have to see how easy it is to get in and out of yet.

[Ky is walking when he sees Jade, and he pauses in his automatic greeting when he can hear the click.

..What is that?

He hopes it isn't what he thinks it is.]

Jade.

[Jade has just closed the SFC when he hears Ky. Looking, he nods to him.]

Ky. It's been a few days.

It has.

[ Ky's voice and face are uncharacteristically wary, ad his attention is almost all on Jade's leg and the metal boot. ]

Who did that to you?

It was an accident, unfortunately.

[If jade notices the attention, he pays it no mind. It's expected that people would look at the weird thing.]

Is it removable?

[It looks as though it might be, but Ky's hardly an expert.]

Yes. Sleeping with this would not have been comfortable in the least.

But it's electronic.

[And therefore clearly bad.]

Yes, and?

And it could function in unanticipated manners.

It isn't safe.

Ky I have a hole in my leg down to my bone made by electricity. I can't put more than a touch of weight on my leg and to let it heal, I would have to wait weeks. By then my leg would atrophy and my spine would become twisted from the recovery.

I think I'll take my chances. Aside from that, it was built by an intelligent ally.

That does sound a horrific injury. How did you get it?

And there should be ways around it besides...this device. Even if you trust the person who built it... they may not be trustworthy.

[Their involvement with technology should certainly be a red flag, as the very least.]

You seem to have an issue with technology. Alister Azimuth is trustworthy at the least.

[Jade frowned, hands in his pockets. The robotic attachment gave a few clicks and whirr's as Jade shifted his weight.]

I suspect more than an accident.

[Ky stepped backward, staring at his leg as it made noises, clearly robotic in nature.]

No one who works with such things can be entirely well-intentioned.

[Because technology is illegal for a reason.]

[Unfortunately, Jade couldn't combat that. It wasn't entirely an accident at the time. At the slight retreat from Ky, Jade did nothing.]

I suspect your fear for this is far from recent in its beginnings.

[Jade's had bad dealings with machines- his own fault for the most part- but he didn't fear them.]

[Ky miffs at it being called a fear. That sounds like Jade's calling him irrational, or being driven by one particular event, instead of the entire state of the world.]

My dislike for science is well-backed in my world by both nearly all major governments and the Church, along with my own personal experience.

Science is not always bad, but not always good.

[Says the scientist.]

It sometimes has disastrous consequences.

Oh, I know that more than anyone, but I certainly view it in logic and moderation, not fear and prejudice.

I am being logical.

[As far as he knows or acknowledges.]

It's dangerous to let robotic parts that close to your skin.

Well, it's assisting me. Unless you'd like to carry me around for the next three weeks wherever I go, then I'll be happy to leave it as is.

[Jade's hands return to his pockets.]

Your dislike for robotics sounds like prejudice; deeply-rooted at that~

That seems a better option than placing your trust in some sort of machine.

[Yes, he's serious, Jade. And starting to get a little offended.]

It's not prejudice if it's based on what has actually happened.

Oh, at this point, I'd trust a machine over some of the inhabitants of Vatheon, but that's personal preference.

[Offended? The word doesn't exist in Jade's book because he doesn't care about offense.]

You might think that machines are by their nature more constant, but that can't be guaranteed.

It was plenty horrific, yes, and people still don't know to quit! Science and technology are dangerous!

Oh, I never said anything about that, Ky. Now you're putting words into my mouth? Tsk tsk

Then why would you trust a machine more than a human? At least people have souls and consciences.
