[ suddenly, there's a very shell-shocked Estelle on the video feed. she's wearing a nightgown, the front of which is covered in ... well, sparkles, dust, and fairy guts. some of it was even on her face. she didn't seem to notice. no, instead, she only stares, wide-eyed, at the comm, as if it were going to give her the answer she needed to know. ]

W-Wh ... W-Where is my fairy? I can't find my fairy ...

[ taking a handkerchief and wiping her face off a little now. after doing so, she looks at the mess on it and freezes. ]

It's to be expected when something goes 'pop' when it's constantly hovering around you isn't it, miss?

[ f-first stage of grieving. denial. she unfreezes as he speaks again. ]

... I-I must look like a mess. I'm sorry. I'm looking for my fairy. She went missing ... her name is Aurelie.

[ she named the thing and everything. oops. she lets out a shaky laugh. ]

I don't know how I know it's a she ... s-she just seemed like one, I suppose.

It's okay, it's okay! Mine was named C.C.--Not my C.C., but she reminded me of her so it was the next best thing.

_{[Except now the 'next best thing' was in pieces, just like his sanity.]}

But C.C. always comes back from everything. I even asked a doctor to fix her for me! Maybe you could ask him if he'd fix Aurelie for you? I'm sure he could do it!

B-But Aurelie is just lost, right? She'll find her way back. I still worry, though ... she's never been away from me, well ... ever. Not since I arrived here.

Admittedly, it hasn't been very long, but ... Aurelie has been here with me, always.

[ oh dear lord, she looks absolutely devastated now. ]

Estellise... _{[how to say it.]} I'm afraid your fairy... exploded.

[ she manages a shaky smile. ]

N-No, it ... Aurelie is around here somewhere, I just ... she's lost.

[ first stage of grief: denial. yep, she named her fairy and everything. ]

I'm sorry Estellise, but... she's gone. Just like all the other fairies, it seems.

B-But she-- Aurelie must be here somewhere!

[ SHE REFUSES TO BELIEVE IT. ]

I am sorry, Estelle... all of the fairies have passed on.

But-!! No, that- ... how can that be?

I am not sure. I will be looking into it, but I can't offer any good explanation just yet. Do not despair. Fairies are not of this world to begin with, surely they have returned to the fairy realm.

[Not that Zelda believes these fairies were real ones, but Estelle looks so sad!]

[Shizuo doesn't really do this networking thing, so he seems a little stiff. But, damn it, he liked his little fairy too, since it was the closest he'd ever get to owning a pet. He can empathize.]

Mine's gone too.

[A small, awkward pause, because he's not exactly sure what to say.]

[Then, sheepishly.] Sorry.

S-She's here, somewhere ... I just ... I just have to find her, that's all.

[ she's deluding herself. uh-oh. ]

[That's...even more awkward. Shizuo isn't sure if he should even respond because he's just not good at comforting and that kind of thing. But he finally does, and there is a long pause where he just fumbles, trying to figure out what to say.]

Ah, I think all the fairies are gone for now. I'm...sorry.

[He looks like he wants to say something else, but then cuts off the feed.]

Sorry to say it--[not really.]--but your little friend just bit the dust.

[Hm.]

Ya have a little somethin' on your face too, just so ya know.

N-No, she .. she's just lost. She'll find her way back, you'll see.

[ oh, but it's as she wipes her face and looks at what's on the handkerchief that she freezes; though, it's hard to tell whether she's realizing that her fairy is really dead, or if she's deluding herself into another fantasy of the fairy being alive and merely lost. ]

...Keep telling yourself that, kid.

[She may or may not be looking at Estelle like she's crazy right now.]

It's gone, I'm afraid. Like all of ours.

Did they all go somewhere together? Perhaps there's a fairy gathering, or something ...

[ yes, the big fairy gathering in fairy heaven. but she's not thinking of it like that, of course. ]

I'm not sure, but it's possible, I suppose.
