Eighth Transmission [video]

[While everyone else has been busy with wrestling bl00bl00ds or finding other ways to pass the time, Maka has been straightening up a certain place. Mostly involving cleaning it top to bottom and removing or putting old items in storage. When the video clicks on, one will see Maka in what looks like a beat up old shirt and shorts, rather than her characteristic skirt. The pigtails aren't even there, her hair is tied back with a kerchief, another one of which she is using to wipe her forehead.

Without missing a beat, she waves to the camera and smiles brightly.]

Hi! Rin, Masaru, I've finished cleaning up the villa. We can move in at any time. [A pause as she fusses with the kerchief tying back her hair for a moment and realizes that Masaru may have not gotten the news.] Masaru, we've got a new place to live now, there will be a lot more space and you can do whatever you want with it. I hope that's okay with you.

[Moving on, Maka takes a deep breath and sets her expression to properly inquisitive, as all good students should be.]

Everyone, this is a weird question but at what age do people usually get married in your world? [Her expression turns exasperated for a moment as she realizes this is, indeed, a very weird question and certain assumptions can be made--] I'm not asking because I want to get married, I'm not looking for trouble. It's just that in my world people tend to get married really early because of the circumstances there. My parents themselves got married when they were eighteen...but I guess what's true for my world isn't true for others?

I married rather young. Well, for a mouse, that is. It was also a very rough living, so I imagine it's much the same.

But why do you say marriage is trouble?
flyingdreams: (Can you do something for me?)

Gosh, you sound like my husband, before he and I got married.

[A little bit of a giggle.]

Well... I suppose if your husband were to stay and care for your children, it would let you do as you need to do? My children didn't begrudge their father for coming home late, at all. But I suppose I'm biased... getting married and having children was wonderful, for me. I'd hoped for it since I was much younger.

[THE GIRLIEST GIRL, IT IS MRS. BRISBY.]
flyingdreams: (Oh... would you?)

I often feel like it's so mundane, compared to the things you human children go through. What sort of dream do you have, Maka?
flyingdreams: (Like a young girl again)

Aah, I see! I felt much the same about my mother. She was very calm, and wise, and resilient... she was a good mother, too. She kept us very safe, and taught my siblings and I quite a bit.

[Priorities are a little different, but still, uguu moms...!]
flyingdreams: (worry)

Unfaithful... goodness. I can't even imagine what I would have done if Johnathan had been unfaithful to me.

[Frown...]

But... he was a loving and devoted husband to the end. He was a very reliable man, and it was very difficult when he died.

Losing your spouse is... always difficult. No matter how you lose them. I suppose, if there was anything about marriage that worried or upset me, it's that.
flyingdreams: (I lost his medicine)

You just have to move on. Life keeps going, and you can't just stop... especially if you have children. That's why I'm thankful... without my children, I fear I'd be completely lost.

Right. It's not easy not to mope, but you have to be strong, because there's always someone who's depending on you.

...That aside... I think, someday, you would make a very good mother, Maka. Not any time soon, of course, you're much too young! But a little later, I think you would do very well with it.

You're a very loving and responsible girl! Don't look so confused.
