flyingdreams: (✽ Baby: Pleased!)
[Mrs. Brisby didn't get out of this unscathed, herself. She's even tinier, now, just a child. She was playing with the SFC for quite some time, before it turned on.]

Ooh! What pretty colors! It's so bright, but it's not hot!

[She's touching at the screen, exploring it like any curious child would.]

What is it? It's not like a fire at all! This is so wonderful! Mother would love this!

[Rin is in the Golden Victory kitchen, though for once his apron is off. His hair is slightly damp, and he's dressed in something a little odd (the one in the center) compared to his usual work uniform. No, there's no costumes this month, but he has a legitimate reason for being in something that looks more like proper host attire.

He also doesn't look too happy, either.]

So I got to start my day off with a damn blender explodin' all over me. But y'know... that ain't what's got me so irritated.

I'm hearin' some odd grumblin' around the club today. What's this crap 'bout "another Okumura"? And why the hell is everyone tellin' this guy shit about me?!

[He'll just wait (im)patiently for your answers, Vatheon.]

flyingdreams: (✽ Human: Did I forget...?)
This is the second time I've been turned into a human this season. I wonder if this is supposed to be a regular thing for me, now... it's still quite a strange thing.

Well, I... suppose I could help anyone who's been turned into a mouse. It's happened a few times before, but I'm sure someone different has become a mouse this time.

flyingdreams: (✽ Roxy: I'm dying)
[Roxy appears to be making a video post! She looks very obviously and distinctly hung over, groaning and looking miserable.]

I... where am I? I think... something dreadful is happening again...

[Hurp. She covers her mouth a bit, expecting a belch or something worse... luckily nothing comes.]

This is Mrs. Brisby. I believe I'm a human now, so thankfully I woke up not inside my real home...

[Waking up human-sized inside of a brick would have been an issue.]

Goodness, why do I feel so sick?

nos_servabit: (well that's a tricky question)
[Being here in Vatheon is a whole lot different than being at home, for Jacob.]

[Not because of the change of scene or anything, or the various sorts of people here who he would have never known if he had never been taken here from the island. It's because, back home, he knew what sort of things were going to happen. The future was already laid out for him like a giant loom, and all he had to do was tie threads together and pull them around to ensure that it would never be unchanged.]

[But here, the future is dark and murky, and even though most of his powers have not gone away, he can't help but feel a little bit of concern that something will happen that he won't be able to predict. Even recently, there had been a bad feeling in his gut that he can't quite get rid of, an itch on the back of his mind. Something bad will occur.]

[When he finally turns the camera on, he doesn't quite meet the camera with his eyes, choosing to say something softly under his breath:]

By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes...

[And then he shakes his head and smiles as he looks up, looking completely calm as he always is.]

You know, I've always wondered about the origins of superstitions. How, exactly, did people believe that salt could get rid of evil spirits, or how did black cats become symbols of bad luck? Somebody somewhere must have connected some dots, and said "Oh, opening that umbrella inside a building made me have a horrible day" or something similar, and then proceeded not to do it again for the rest of their lives.

But, of course, the most important question here is- are they really true? Can breaking a mirror give you seven years of bad luck? It depends on the person, really...believing in superstitions is kind of like religion, oddly. Some don't believe in it at all, and some believe in some, but not others. For example, in China, hospitals don't have a 4th floor, as the word for 4 rhymes with "death" in Chinese. Every culture has their list of superstitions and omens, and they can really reveal much about a group of people.

[And a pause as he tilts his head.] So...I know that everyone comes from their own individual worlds here, so here is a question for you: what are some common superstitions or omens that you know of from where you come from? Even if you come from Earth, like me, it'll still be interesting to hear what you have to say.

[Jacob smiles, though his overall expression is still a bit troubled, and turns off the camera. He'd have to wait and see whether his bad feeling would pan out at all. He sincerely hoped it wouldn't.]

[ooc: Once again, if you haven't done so yet, please fill out Jacob's permission post if you can about what he can know about your character thanks to his omniscience powers and what not. Thank you!]

[Hubert looks a bit downcast today, and as he speaks he does so with a much softer tone than most people would be used to from him.]

I have a... strange question, but I'm hoping for some answers none the less.

How does one... move on from being hopelessly in love? When it's clear that nothing you do will ever make the tides turn in your favor, what would be the next logical step?

[He stops for a moment, as if to say more, but simply bows his head gratefully.]

Thank you for your time...

I've noticed our home is getting a bit crowded as of late. Rather than make a big deal over it, I have decided to move. I know there will be some protests, but there is a nice two bedroom just down the way, about three houses from ours. I will be fine living alone, so please don't make a fuss over my decision.

[While everyone else has been busy with wrestling bl00bl00ds or finding other ways to pass the time, Maka has been straightening up a certain place. Mostly involving cleaning it top to bottom and removing or putting old items in storage. When the video clicks on, one will see Maka in what looks like a beat up old shirt and shorts, rather than her characteristic skirt. The pigtails aren't even there, her hair is tied back with a kerchief, another one of which she is using to wipe her forehead.

Without missing a beat, she waves to the camera and smiles brightly.]

Hi! Rin, Masaru, I've finished cleaning up the villa. We can move in at any time. [A pause as she fusses with the kerchief tying back her hair for a moment and realizes that Masaru may have not gotten the news.] Masaru, we've got a new place to live now, there will be a lot more space and you can do whatever you want with it. I hope that's okay with you.

[Moving on, Maka takes a deep breath and sets her expression to properly inquisitive, as all good students should be.]

Everyone, this is a weird question but at what age do people usually get married in your world? [Her expression turns exasperated for a moment as she realizes this is, indeed, a very weird question and certain assumptions can be made--] I'm not asking because I want to get married, I'm not looking for trouble. It's just that in my world people tend to get married really early because of the circumstances there. My parents themselves got married when they were eighteen...but I guess what's true for my world isn't true for others?

flyingdreams: (Phew!)
[Mrs. Brisby finally puts up a post, though she's a bit shaky, even over the SFC camera. She coughs, a little bit, and her voice sounds rather ill.]

Are there any doctors...? For... mice, I mean. I don't think human medicine will do well for me. Perhaps it would, but I wouldn't wish to risk it.

I've had a cold for what seems like a long time.

BEING AS MY PREVIOUS EMPLOYER HAS BEEN GONE FROM VATHEON FOR ABOUT HALF A MONTH
AND CERTAIN OTHER COMPLICATIONS OF LIFE ARE FINALLY SETTLED DOWN
THIS SEEMS THE OPTIMAL TIME TO LOOK FOR A NEW JOB.
AND YES, THE FACT THAT I HAVE MADE THIS POST MEANS THAT I AM LOOKING FOR SUGGESTIONS.
NO, SPIDER, I WILL NOT GO INTO JOURNALISM BECAUSE I DON'T EVEN THINK WE HAVE A NEWSPAPER HERE.
NO, GUY WITH THE UGLY HAIR I TALKED TO EARLIER IN THE MONTH, I AM NOT GOING TO WRITE A BOOK.
NO, EMPTYLOBED SHITWITS WHO WANT TO SUGGEST STUPID THINGS FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR OWN SHAMEFULLY UNATTRACTIVE LAUGHTER CONVULSIONS, I WILL NOT EVEN BEGIN TO HUMOR YOU, SO DO ME A FAVOR AND CHOKE ON THE NEAREST EATING UTENSIL.
FOR REFERENCE MY PRIOR EXPERIENCE INCLUDES MISCELLANEOUS TASKS IN RESTAURANTS UNTIL
1) MY FIRST EMPLOYER FIRED EVERYONE IN A FIT OF RAGE-FUELED DOUCHEBAGGERY FOR NO GOOD REASON
2) MY SECOND AS ALREADY STATED VANISHED FROM THE BUBBLE.
FOR THE RECORD, I DO NOT WANT THIS JOB AGAIN.
I AM A BADASS WITH A SICKLE
HAVE LEAD A TEAM OF TWELVE UNRULY AND ASSBRAINED MORONS TO VICTORY IN A GAME THAT ENDED ONE WORLD AND CREATED A NEW UNIVERSE
AND I AM DEEPLY KNOWLEDGEABLE ON THE TROPES OF ROMANTIC FILMS, WHICH ARE GREAT SO GO SINK YOUR SKULL INTO THE NEAREST SEWAGE DRAIN IF YOU'RE ONLY HERE TO SAY OTHERWISE.
I'M ALSO GREAT AT PROGRAMMING COMPUTER VIRUSES BUT HAVE NO IDEA WHAT USE THAT WOULD BE HERE.
SO WHATEVER
GIVE SUGGESTIONS, ASK *INTELLIGENT* QUESTIONS, AND WITH ANY LUCK I'LL FIND SOMETHING.
