[When the SFC's camera turns on for the first time, Vatheon's network is treated to a view of some glorious, glorious chest hair. And a few seconds later, it pans upward to the face of the owner of said chest hair, a dwarf with a smug look on his face. He's holding a crossbow in his arms.

He's holding it rather affectionately.

It may or may not be slightly unsettling to those watching.]

Greetings, citizens of Vatheon. My name is Varric Tethras. And this- [He pats the crossbow.] -is Bianca. Now, the two of us have a very important question we need answered.

Where, exactly, do people go around here to gather, relax, and have fun? It would be most preferable if said place had drinks. Cute dwarven serving girls not required, but a nice bonus.

[It's nighttime when the camera adjusts toward one side of the room where there are several stuffed sharks, stars, and turtles in a big pile. Upon closer inspection, however, you'll be able to see that this isn't one of the regular bedrooms in the dome, but a practically bleach white hospital room.]

[... He doesn't sound as enthusiastic as he could be about that, however. But, really, if you want one of these things, by all means just come back and get it. There's a brief blur of Axel's face which doesn't stay long enough for anyone to really get a good look at him, but just in case, he's definitely got a split lip and a gauze bandage over his right temple. There's some more shifting when his door opens and one of the happiest looking nurses in the world comes in to check on him.]

[Through luck, Shinjiro had managed to find out it was a certain someone's birthday. Birthdays have never really been important to him. He's been poor all of his life, living off of what the government and eventually part-time jobs provided him. He and his best friend would get cake when they were younger, but that was about it. The one time he tried to change that...well, he'd approached it the wrong way through thievery (and was promptly punished for doing so by his best friend).

Things are a little different here in Vatheon. He can help make her day special without digging into his pocket. But since money isn't an issue, choosing the right gift is.

Now he must reach out. Text was a good way not to get too social with a person, so he thought.]

[ Someone's soaked. And he's someone that disappeared about three weeks ago today. He's... not in a very good mood, but then again, when is he ever? ]

Okay, which one of you was it!?

[ Yeah... definitely not in a good mood. ] Zelda!? Maybe you, Kohaku!? Shing!? Zelos or Lloyd!?

[ He wipes his face off with a towel. ]

I take a nap for one hour and then I wake up soaking wet and in front of the Coral!? [ Clearly, Occam's Razor says someone did this as a prank, and he didn't just disappear and come back without remembering it. ]

--that's video. [A certain fluffy haired Pokemon enthusiast is pointing at something on the screen of a new arrival's SFC. He's behind said new arrival, visible behind a mass of equally fluffy brown hair. Apparently he's giving a lesson on how the SFC works and doesn't realize that his point actually prodded the button hard enough to start recording.]

Oh ... okay. So when you press that button, the camera feed goes right to a network that everyone here can see? This thing is kind of like a more public Xtransceiver ... [ The new arrival in question was staring at the SFC with this look of fascination on her face. It wasn't hard to get a handle on, she was just learning quite a bit all in the span of the few hours she had been here. On top of other things.. ]

Something like that. There's voice mail to talk to people directly. [There's an awkward pause from N, but he adds:] You can contact me directly with it, if you want...

Really? So I guess ... um. [ She looks over the device and points to a button ] Is that how I go to contacts or something?

Yes, that's right. You're getting the hang of it. [He doesn't really smile, but he seems... almost content with the current situation. Odd, for anyone who's gotten to know him in the past couple of months.

He blinks twice, though, and gestures at the SFC again.] It turned on.

[ She looks up at him, then back to the SFC, and blinks a few times. ] ... It did? [ She looks a little closer. ] How can you tell?

The light is on. That little red one right there. It's not easy to see.

.... Oh! I see it now. Yeah, it's on ... [ URP. ] How long has it been on? [ CRAP THIS IS AWKWARD. ] We should say hello or something, right?

Zoroark took my SFC away from me the first time it turned on accidentally. He thought it would make me help him look for food. [N what does that have to do with anything Hilda just asked?] ... you can introduce yourself. I think that's customary.

.... That sounds like Zoroark. [ She's not sure what that has to do with anything but it's a cute story at least? Hilda looks back to the SFC feed and raises her free hand in an awkward wave.] Um ... hi? I'm Hilda?

Hilda is a trainer from Unova. [Thank you for that stellar introduction you two.] ... she's a... friend. [... even better.]

[ She kinda awkwardly points to N. ] I was looking for him. Ah-- Before I came here. [ No, Hilda, that doesn't sound creepy at all ... she hides her face a little at that realization. ] I swear that sounded less creepy in my head.

... that sounded creepy? [And N is forever oblivious. Does he even know what being creepy entails?] You should... say something else. Or turn it off. Other people can respond to you, though.

M'Gonna turn it off now. I push this button again, right? [ And with that, the button is pressed, and the feed turns off! ]

[Renge appears to be sitting in her room, finger placed firmly against her chin. She was thinking about what she had been seeing in the past day. people asking questions and people seemingly answering, usually when she expected people to knot answer. What made it more amusing was the fact that people reacted afterwards. This seemed like a best idea as any to find out a little something, something.]

I do hope that everyone is okay, I've noticed that people are unable to lie, so I thought that I might as well ask a couple of very important questions.

Question one. Do your or did you ever have a boyfriend or girlfriend, either here or back home? If so what was or is it like?

Question two. If you've never had a partner, is there someone you have your eye on? Don't worry, I won't tell a soul. [Oh no, but stuff like this would be wonderful for future doujinshis, of course. Or she just wants to know and fangirl over it, which ever comes first of course.]

[ She sighs, then smiles again, though it's a bit sheepish. ]

So, ah ... I guess I haven't exactly been myself for the past few weeks. I'm sorry I was so moody, to anyone I actually talked to while like that.

[For once, Lloyd doesn't seem to mind that he's bursting into song. Hey, if there's any occasion where singing is appropriate, a birthday is definitely it! And this curse means he's actually good at it, even if he can't necessarily control the impulse to sing.]

When people said that curses could affect you in any way possible, I should've taken them at their word, huh? I know that I might not always be the most talkative guy in the world and the extra push to be social is appreciated, but I think I'd rather go back to not talking to anyone than not being able to stop.

It's a down right pain in the ass. But I guess that's what this place specializes at, doesn't it?

Does anywhere around here sell duct tape? Maybe that'll fix the problem.

...taking the "sea of my soul" thing a bit too literally, isn't it...?

[Someone is fiddling experimentally with the SFC, although she doesn't seem to realize immediately that she's succeeded in activating it. Instead, Minako holds it up in front of her to study it thoughtfully, with several hairpins sticking out of the corner of her mouth and a towel draped over her damp and tousled hair, looking back and forth between the SFC and something a bit to the side of it that she seems to be holding up in her other hand.

Then abruptly she brightens.]

Ah, it's doing something!

[The hand that's not holding the SFC quickly drops - there's a brief flash of a blue key in it before she stuffs that into a pocket to free up a hand long enough to get the hairpins out of her mouth.]

Igor? Theo?

[A beat, and then a shake of her head and a rueful smile.] --as though they'd use something like this when he can just call my phone whenever he wants.

[She sighs a little, still wearing that lopsided smile, and begins looking around her again.]

It'd be nice to hear someone's voice, though...
