Considering the natives' already weak grasp of the concept of property, I don't see why anyone should be surprised one of them went rooting through your crap. It's your own fault for not keeping better tabs on it.
[Like it wouldn't be easy to steal from Laharl while he was asleep.]
You know what bugs me about this place? The lack of corpses.
I've heard when we die here, we don't stay dead, but don't the locals at least kick it long enough to warrant some kind of funeral? Do they all get cremated? Or no, don't tell me, burial at sea is the way they go here. What a pain.

Coffin?
[Private - Audio]
Maybe I should try that.
And yeah, a coffin. The wooden box humans bury their dead in?
[Private - Audio]
Humans bury their dead in a box? That kinda seems counterproductive. Doesn't that waste the corpse?
[Private - Audio]
Well, most humans don't eat each other, and I think the idea of using each other's bones grosses them out. They'd probably tell you it's "disrespectful." They're squeamish that way.
[Private - Audio]
I don't mean humans eating other humans. It's uh, more a reclaiming thing. Letting the land and animals take back from you. I'm pretty sure cannibalism isn't a human thing, right? Either way, seems pretty weird to bury your dead in a box instead of giving some hungry mouths something to eat. Sounds a lot more respectful to me the latter of the two.
[Private - Audio]
Oh. I think the worms get to them eventually. At least they talk a lot about that, but it seems like shoddy craftsmanship if you're letting worms into your coffin.
[Private - Audio]
But all the good meat's gone by then. It's just a waste I'd think.
[Private - Audio]
Well, you're asking the wrong guy.
[Private - Audio]
And killing someone over something meaningless is pretty uh, well, pretty lame.
[Private - Audio]
Not all life is valuable. Most people just lead meaningless little lives that aren't any good to anyone. But at least killing them can be entertaining sometimes.
[Private - Audio]
Life is inherently valuable. People have to earn their own value, but the life they were given means something. If you kill them, you are wasting it, just like they are if they do nothing of value with what they got.
[Private - Audio]
Some people just make better worm food.
