29 - Soya - FORWARD DATED TO THURSDAY AFTERNOON | Video
[ So at around noon, the forest quadrant might feel like there's a complicated knot of magic in it. Its not aimed at anything, and really its just a great concentration of it that shrinks and shrinks and finally gets steady. It doesn't take that long, even.
So its totally fine, right?
The video starts with just a view of disrupted foliage, some of the bubble's brand of sunlight filtering down. There's the hilt of a particularly odd looking sword at a weird angle that catches the light, a weak glow dying out before a black gloved hand fumbles and crosses the screen-
And if you're younger than 13, the video stops there. ]
... Expected expansion, although particular rate was unexpected...
[ Duke's voice sounds a bit odd. Maybe a little dazed? Well, it could explain the trail of red working its way down the edge of Dein Nomos that's on the video. ]
... space between field of dispersion and field of concentration ought to have a way to be more stable, even under conditions...
[ Plip! That lovely mark on the video would be a drop of blood. Is there an uncomfortable whistling noise to Duke's breathing? Maybe. ]
... Barriers produced within field of dispersion are next to useless...
[ There's a few more plips and splats of blood dripping off that sword. Sounds like Duke doesn't realize he's recording to a section of the network, although its good that he managed to fumble a filter away from some, isn't it? ]
Likely should have started with smaller experiment...
(OOC: Putting this up early- this happens on Thursday, and is Duke's somewhat-haitus for the con weekend. I'll be moderately busy on Thursday so getting threads mostly started now! Warning that he's hurt himself fairly badly-)

[Ilya definitely wouldn't mistake that for anything other than blood. And it sounds like he was doing some sort of ritual of magecraft or something, except that it went wrong.
She hasn't spoken to him in a while, but he's always been nice when they did talk. And... well, if it's magecraft he's doing, maybe she can help.]

[ At this point the help he needs is a healer or someone to get him to the clinic.
And now he's feeling awkward, if still dazed. ]
Think.. ought to...
[ There, he's got his hand over the video. No more blood dripping visibly to the video for you, just the darkness of his glove. ]
...sorry.

It's okay about the screen. Where are you?
[Clearly he's one of those people who doesn't admit when they need help...]
no subject
[ Give him a moment to remember that she talked a bit of magic with him- ]
... Area should feel... lacking, in magic... has some concentrated as well...
[ Basically he's saying he's at the spot with the funny feeling magic- ]
[video] 1/2
[She takes a while to realize that he's talking about a part of the city and not the island.]
I'll be there soon!
[And she takes the SFC and turns it off - or rather, fumbles with it for a few seconds before finding the right button...]
[action] 2/2
Ilya walks towards the forest quadrant as fast as she can towards the gap in mana she can feel, wondering how much further she has to walk, when she feels the gaping hole around her. A sudden loss of energy... he can't be far.]
Duke?
[She tries calling out again. The field of absence in energy is larger than she initially thought...]
[action]
[ He's over by a few blips of concentrated mana, where there looks like something caused a bunch of broken branches and a Duke, who is sitting against a similarly smashed up tree.
With a sword in his ribs. Oops. He's staring at it like he isn't quite sure what he should do. ]
[action]
It's not worth asking right now.
Nevertheless, despite her innate knowledge of magecraft, Ilya isn't really skilled in the art of healing. It's not something she was born knowing, and she never learned other magecraft. Plus, Einzbern alchemy is not made to heal, just to fix.]
I'm going to try to fix it, but I'll have to pull out the sword. Is that okay?
[She looks back to Duke's face for an answer.]
[action]
But he shifts the arm on that side out of the way. ]
Will... put hands over, after.
[ He'll grab the end of his coat for that. ]
[action]
This might take a while.
Ilya continues for another thirty seconds, but her small frame really doesn't help the situation at all. Finally, the sword slips out from the hole it's dug in Duke's torso, and Ilya puts it down on the ground. No, the blood isn't really bothering her. She's seen too much of that to be shocked.]
This will probably hurt. What I can do isn't really healing, but more like patching broken things together.
[Ilya bends down next to Duke and waits for him to say yes. After all, what she just said isn't exactly encouraging.]
[action] That icon looks happy to me, just saying- >>;
Slow definitely hurts more. He might have bitten his lip bloody- ]
Still would help.
[ .... Hopefully this magic of hers will work even if he passes out? Because that could be a thing, if it hurts too much. ]
[action] i'm not sure if this is how it works in her canon... oops
Ilya takes some large leaves and places them on top of Duke's exposed wound, carefully removing his hands. She then closes her eyes, and tries to convert the leaves into the skin tissue underneath them. The composition of both are foreign under her hands, and she feels her magic circuits increasing output.
But it feels like it's working. She hopes that Duke's hanging in there. To humans, at least, this would be like the equivalent of massive surgery...]
[action] yaaaay vague magic-
It also hurts. In ways he's pretty sure he can't make sense of other than "ow". He's quiet about it though. Mostly. There's once in a while where he gives a cough or two, with a weak groan or something.
If he's still aware, he's doing a very good job of pretending he's not really. Focusing on something other than the weird patching up of his side... ]
[action]
But of course - this is Einzbern magecraft. It's in her ancestry to do. She didn't really think she wouldn't be able to do it.
Ilya looks over at Duke, who's been awfully silent for the most part, save the occasional cough. At least he hasn't passed out... right?]
Duke?
[action]
Its going to be a bit more than one moment before he takes a deeper breath and coughs again. It sounds gross and wet, but at least there's no awkward wheezing-whistling from a hole in his side. ]
... Healed.. but..
[ Excuse him as he turns and coughs up a mess from inside his lungs. Aaahhh, gross. ]
[action]
Of course, the process isn't perfect. Grafting on skin just patches up the hole he made, and as much as she tried to fix up everything inside as well, she feels like something about Vatheon is dampening her magic circuits and making them less effective. So the skin is about as much as she can do for the time being.
After Duke finishes, Ilya moves back in to make sure he's okay.]
Can you move? You should rest as much as you can. The grafting process needs the body to recover the rest on its own.
[action]
... may need.. a bit of help... Possibly a stop by coral.
[ No offense, Ilya, but the word 'grafting' doesn't make him think of full healing. ]
[action]
Also, there might be a bit of a problem in trying to help Duke... Ilya's definitely too small to support his weight.]
Well, I can't carry you...
[Okay, so maybe it's bigger than just a bit of a problem.]
[action]
[ He might just roll over and look for the nearest tree to pull himself up with, but falling would be bad right now. ]
[action]
[She bends down and starts to gather some of the pieces of shrubbery together. It doesn't look super comfortable given that a considerable portion is made of sticks, though...]
[action]
[ But he's focused on getting up now, and then staying up once he's there. ]
... Maybe a sturdy stick...
[ Or maybe he should be smart and tell Ilya to go get help- ]
[action] aw frig this went and got lost in my inbox, sorry!
I'll find somebody! Maybe one of the locals can help.
[And the girl runs off back towards the city, hoping to run into somebody along the way. Those locals are always willing to help, even if their smiles are a little creepy...]
[action] it got buried in mine >>;
Duke sort of watches her go.
When she comes back, with her help in tow, Duke has managed to make it to a different tree. Only he's sitting there and just looking like he thought that was a terrible idea. ]
[action]
He's over here!
[She points to Duke, finding him at a slightly different location from before. Ilya pouts slightly before speaking to him.]
You know, moving yourself when you're still suffering massive internal damage isn't a good idea. But I guess it's up to you.
[The locals then heft up the injured man with a quick 'excuse us!' and a smile, and start carefully walking back towards town. Ilya walks alongside them and hopes that... well, that Duke's okay.]
