[Whoever is in the center of town at the moment might experience a blue speedbump on the ground. The little starfish communicator pops open next to him and the feed opens to the side of Jade's head as he grumbles and lets out an irritated groan. Staring up at the.... sky(?) Jade sat up and gave a look around to his surroundings, then to the little item on the ground next to him.

Frowning, he shook out his soaked hands, understandably confused as to why he was soaked from head to toe. Tataroo was entirely dry save for the river and he hadn't fallen into that. However, the bigger concern was where he was. This didn't look remotely close to anything he knew, which was saying a lot for a man who'd traveled the world. He certainly didn't like the looks of that sky or that... coral in the center of town. After a minute, he stood, ignoring the little device that had been next to him and tried patting himself a bit dryer as he examined his immediate surroundings for foes.]

How peculiar. Is it possible I was brought here, or am I dreaming...?

[Jade pulled some of the hair from his face and hooked his glasses on the front of his uniform. At the offered towel, Jade took it and pressed it to his face in an effort to dry it. Pulling it from his face, he gave the pink-clad man an odd expression before he glanced around the area.]

Vatheon? I've never heard of such a place.

[Yep. Dreaming.]

It's easier for you to make things more confusing? Are you some kind of professor?

[Blink.]

[Even knowing that people in this place come from different worlds, it still trips him up sometimes when something he's used to is different for someone else. Lloyd pauses, trying to regain his mental footing. When he speaks again, it's with a hint of uncertainty. How big is this difference between their worlds?]

Are there... other races in your world at all?

[Yup, your world.]

It must be possible that you are, sir.

Lovely. Though it would explain quite a bit if it is. [He looks up at the sky again. The color and look of it is disconcerting, but if it is a dream, then it's not so odd.]

I'm a soldier; I despise teaching.

[At the question, Jade frowned a bit, a brow rising in confusion.]

There are humans and monsters.

[His world? Did he mean country? He did seem young, after all; it was possible he was simply using terms he preferred.

Also the fact that he thought sans and sands were the same thing.]

Oh. I guess you just reminded me of my teacher. She says a lot of things I don't understand, too

A world with only one race? Huh... So then there wouldn't be any discrimination. Or at least not much!

[Racial discrimination is the biggest source of discrimination Lloyd's really had to face. Sure, there are other kinds, but without that one, the others shouldn't be that much of a problem. Right?]

That's kind of a shame, though. Other races can teach us a lot!

[Jade has a feeling a lot of people say things you don't understand. Like Candelabra, defenestration, and possibly umbrella.]

I suppose you could say we have a sub-race that is disliked, but that's splitting hairs and unimportant at the moment.

[Jade takes off his glasses a moment and pushes some of his wet hair out of his face.]

I'm sure our own can teach us just as much if we're willing to listen and learn.

...notify me when you get more situated, Colonel. I can set up a pot of tea.

[Jade blinked, apparently not expecting that. But he smirked and nodded lightly.]

[The redhead was struck momentarily dumb and remained speechless the entire time Jade used his towel, his brain only hiccuping back into motion when spoken to. How the hell is some guy that...that... balls, I can't even think of the word, what the hell?!.]

Uhh, it's...

[He has to shake his head to clear it and start over, looking out into the plaza instead of at the new guy's glassesless face.]

It's a different world from yours. We're all snagged here from wherever by the coral or something and plopped here.

[The Chosen digs around in his pockets for a pamphlet and hands it over to Jade. He usually makes sure he has a few of them since it's easier than explaining over and over.]

I'll just give you a minute to read that. [While he regains his composure. How the hell is a dude that pretty?!]

[ Hmmnn. Does he want to continue speaking properly? ]

Not clear upon what "what kind of place is here". It is a place, with many of multiple worlds more or less caused to coexist. Touching the coral heals, every so often is something called a 'curse'.

Unknown. Free food, shelter, objects. But things, specific to ones own world cost... [ He doesn't know. He hasn't looked into things specifically from his world. ]

[He works at a building right at the edge of the plaza--and so when he spies a wet newcomer, he hops out of his chair, grabs a welcoming basket and a towel, and heads on out.

And then he offers the towel.]

I haven't been able to figure that one out yet, but I think we're probably not dreaming. Otherwise, it'd be a really, really long dream.

[ Have a faintly amused giggle in way of greeting, and then a dismissive wave as the video feed cuts on. ]

Dreaming? If this is your dream, color me impressed....mm, and a bit concerned at your mental stability.

Perhaps you could find a way for you to wake up?

This place is quite real, Sir, I assure you.

[Hey, he'd totally be able to guess what defenestration is. Defense is really important for a fighter to learn!]

Okay... I'm not sure I get that, but... got it!

I guess that's true. I've probably learned just as much from people who are human as from people who are something else. [A pause, then he brightens.] Yeah, you're definitely right! It shouldn't matter at all what race someone is! We can learn from everyone.

I'm Lloyd, by the way. What's your name?

I meant on a more personal level, I suppose. But the worlds that we all have come from...aren't always what I would expect.

Since you seem pretty awake, I don't think you're dreaming.

[Jade's wondering how he'll get dry when the towel is offered to him. He looks at the owner of the hand and takes the towel. Removing his glasses, he presses the towel to his face and dries it a bit before he looks to the man again.]

Dreams can be of any length. It's only when you wake up that you think they're short.

Thank you for the towel, however.

Comforting. [It's not.]

Maybe I just have very vivid dreams. There are many different causes for such a thing~ Anxiety disorders, medications, hallucinogens...

[Jade picks up the communicator and pushes some wet hair from his face.]

[ she didn't think it would be. ]

I'm sorry. For the time being, we don't seem to have a way out of here. This place isn't quite so bad once you spend some time here, though.

[Oh god.]

Yes, of course.

[This kid is.... Interesting.]

[A pause.]

Pinching doesn't work. However, I don't usually dream as far as I can recall..

[After his face is a bit drier, Jade puts the towel over his arm and takes the pamphlet, flipping through it.]

So I'm trapped here indefinitely?

[A slightly annoyed hint to his tone, but his expression remains more puzzled than not.]
