[At first, all that can be heard is the low, muffled sounds of talking and utensils clicking against plates in a restaurant. That's in the background; Walter himself has yet to order and thus sits in silence, waiting. Within a minute or two, a familiar waitress approaches and he shifts, moving to put the communicator away.]

Hello! . . . am I interrupting?

What?

Isn't it on?

[Walter looks at "it," and only then does he realize that the communicator in his grasp is indeed on. Perhaps misinterpreting his silence, there's a not so subtle mirth behind the waitress' voice.]

I'll come back later. Please don't be shy!

Wait . . .

[The communicator picks up on her fading footsteps. Following a pregnant pause, Walter goes to turn the device off.]

( ooc: This is a joint post in which Chibiterasu (sonlight) will jack most, if not all, threads. There's a good likelihood that he'll switch to the video function, being very eager to show off what he learned about the SFC. )

Woof! [Water-smelling-guy? Can you respond? Chibi thinks he just figured out another puzzle! Hold on, you're having a conversation down there too so let him test it...]

[ That gets him to switch to video, and he sends the pup an intense stare. Not that Kohaku would be able to differentiate. ]

[ even if she could understand a thing the puppy was saying, she wouldn't believe a word of it. Walter's a jerk, you know. and she's kinda miffed at him now for being such a jerk. ]

I was talking to the puppy.

[ she then smiles back at Chibi. ]

Walter simply clamps his mouth shut and looks off to the side, ignoring the conversation. ]

[He looks pretty proud of himself, or at the very least happy for the compliment. Most of the time he's called dopey or spacey so being told he's smart is kind of a big deal!]

[ After another second of this, it occurs to him that their "conversation" is completely irrelevant to him. With that single thought, he turns his attention back to the communicator.

And turns it off.

They can carry on, of course. ]

Woo? [Hold up a sec missy, we lost your boyfriend! It's cool, Chibi will contact him.

A TEXT MESSAGE will flash on Walter's screen (and everyone else's, because Chibi does not know how to filter).]

[ that is so cute. oh my goodness this little puppy is the cutest thing. Kohaku can't contain her giggles as she receives the text, too. ]

[ Walter, for the most part, was doing fine and dandy (enough) after hanging up when the waitress returned. It would've continued to have been so until the communicator made a noise as he was about to speak. The waitress giggled and left without taking his order.

Needless to say, Walter doesn't look all too pleased when he returns to the conversation. ]

[Whoa! Chibi jumps back from the communicator, a little startled at the sudden snap.]

[ yep, still melting at the cuuuuute. and wishing she knew what the little guy was saying. ]

[ It could just be making sounds. Like a wolf. Actions speak louder than words, anyway. ]
