second thought [accidental video]
[Clearly the SFCs have horrid timing, because this time a feed starts up when it gets knocked onto the floor. After a brief bout of static, it focuses on Mao spinning around in a simple computer chair with both hands clamped over a pair of headphones, holding them to his ears. To anyone who remembers him from his first appearance, he definitely looks happier this time!]
I take back every terrible thing I said about this city~! Oh, if only you could see this--we could live here forever and ever and nobody could ever tear us apart again, I'd make sure of it! How I missed hearing your voice, C.C.! I was so angry at first because they took everything away from me, but they gave it back! It's only missing you now... But you'll come someday, I just know it! I promise, I'll wait for however long it takes!
[Slowly, the chair comes to a stop and Mao regards the fallen SFC with mild surprise. Did he bump into the desk a little too hard? Whoops! Time to get off that chair and pick the poor thing up.]
Ah! I had no idea this turned itself on. But since I have your attention, I have a teensy question for you all! Where could I find a normal doctor? You see, the natives are far too noisy for my tastes, and I'm a little picky~

voice;
It would all depend on what sort of leg pain. Is this a cramp? The sort you just woke up with? We have to determine a cause before recommending any cure.
voice;
voice;
Complete healing isn't quite so foreign as one would think considering how this place seems to have gathered people with various... shall we say... abilities.
However, that lingering side effect does strike me as strange. Describe the pain for me.
voice;
It only acts up if I put too much pressure on it or if I decide to walk around the city for too long--Sometimes it starts off dull and turns sharp, but if I move wrong? [A clap.] Bang! It feels like getting shot again!
voice;
[ But he considers everything being told to him though. ]
Interesting. Either we can consider that your injury hasn't been healed completely beneath the surface or this is merely an aftereffect of the entire ordeal.
At any rate, it would be best that you not strain it all that much. Give it a week, perhaps. If need be, you can drop by the clinic at any time and I can give this a further examination and perhaps a splint in order to support it.
voice;
[The chair creaks as he leans forward. Oh, it was so tempting to switch the device to video to show off his eyes, but he'd hold back against it. It wouldn't be a very wise thing to do in this city--especially when he a) has no idea as to the identity of the person he's speaking with, and b) has no allies.]
Hmph. It could get worse in a week... I think I'd feel a little more... At ease if it was looked at. It wasn't just one or two cops who shot me.
[More like a whole riot squad. Oops.]
voice;
[ A nod as he presses his fingertips together. ]
My clinic is open for consult from nine in the morning to ten in the evening though for later times, past midnight, my apartment is at Vita. Fourth floor, second room.
Of course, if it still bothers you, I'd be happy to do a house call.
voice;
[Then again, this is coming from a guy who was raised by an immortal chick.]
I, ah... I'm not exactly living anywhere at the moment, so I think a house call would be out of order for me. It's hard enough being where I am right now in the library--I suffer from very severe headaches when I'm around people--it's something I've had since I was a child, you see?
voice;
[ A pause as he takes this all in. ]
The library. I'll make a note of that. However, the headaches concern me. What sort are they?
voice;
[Oh, man. Where does he even start?]
They're just terrible~ Even now, people are so noisy and the only way to stop it is to put a bullet in their heads! I won't do that, though. I won't, I wont, I won't! It's cruel when they can't help it, you know! But I do wish they would shut up. It's so hard to concentrate with all the noise.
[He dissolves into a small fit of laughter.] Do you know how annoying it gets hearing girls wonder if their boyfriends like them? Or people wishing someone else would just drop dead just because they were talking to their spouse or best friend? It's so, so, so... Make it stop, shut up, shut up! I don't want to hear it! There's really only one person who can help with it because I can't hear her. She's really the most amazing person in the world! I can't hear her and everything is so quiet that I can actually hear myself think!
voice;
Unfortunately, the mass of humanity... or lack there of... which has been summoned into this city leads to the unavoidable noise. Thus the kraken.
[ A breath. ]
But life goes on despite the location, it seems. However... annoying... certain inquires over the network may get.
voice;
That's the legendary beast that's said to be around the northern parts of the E.U., isn't it? C.C. used to tell me stories about it a long, long time ago.
[He snickers.]
A penny for your thoughts, doctor~?
voice;
I don't believe you were here to see it when it came to the city? Caused quite the upset. Rallied the entire city together into one force in an attempt to prevent the blasted animal from drowning us all.
[ There's a pause as he shifts in his seat to a more comfortable position. ]
Would you like to know, really...?
[ And a chuckle. ]
But perhaps I don't find it as much of a nuisance as you do. The mundane matters bore me, to say the least. I'd rather set my sights on something more... relevant to my research. Mentions of magic from other worlds, fellow scientists in the field, those with rather... eclectic world views, so to speak?
voice;
Mm, no. I didn't arrive until... Let's see--Almost three months ago, I think? It's a little hard to remember.
[Oh, if he could see the grin on his face.]
I like you, doctor.. I like you, so I'm going to share something I wouldn't normally share with people. Since there's such a... wide range of people here, I don't suppose you've ever heard of something called geass, have you? It's alright if you haven't, don't be afraid to say so! I've only met one other person with it from my world, excluding myself.
voice;
[ There's another pause to take this in. Let's have that grin that can't be seen and match it with a rather devious smirk, yes? ]
I don't think I have. It seems there are various things alien to my time and reality that prove themselves most useful. Please. I'd like to hear more.
voice;
[Actually, he wouldn't deny that he's a little giddy over meeting another mind reader. Really giddy. Heck, if it didn't bother his leg so much he might even be bouncing a little!]
It's really quite unique, though it's more of a bother for me now. I've had mine since I was six years old, but I'm sure you've figured out what mine lets me do by now~ The bothersome part about it is I can't turn it off. The only person I can't hear is C.C., but she's not here yet. I'm sure she'll turn up soon! I'll wait forever, I can be patient! I've always been patient with her--she's wonderful, but he stole her away from me. That nasty, nasty young man--he's just like me, except his powers are much, much different! Oh, yes, I know all about his. They can't hide anything from me, you know~
voice;
[ A very small smirk. There seems to be an exhale though, as a breath from a cigarette. ]
I see... and just what is this.. geass? A genetic ability? The result of an experiment, if I may assume, of course?
[ A beat. A tap. ]
My apologies. In my eagerness, it seems I've forgotten the most basic of societal norms. Pardon my rudeness. My name is Kazutaka Muraki. Doctor Muraki is alright. Muraki as well if you're so inclined to drop the title.
And you are...?
voice;
[That sure is a nasty ol' habit there, Muraki. But the thought of his geass being genetic sends him into a fit of laughter and clapping.]
Oh, now that's the best one I've heard! It really, really is! And the experiments! That's another very, very, very good guess, but they're both wrong, I'm afraid! No, no, it's much different. C.C. gave it to me when I was a child! She's the only person I can't hear and she's very important to me for soooo many reasons!
[Seems he never really grew out of that child phase, either.]
Another Eleven, hmm~? You can call me Mao! I'm afraid I don't have any fancy titles or even a last name but I never had any parents, so I hope you understand~
voice;
I suppose we should keep this... C.C. within radar if she ever appears in the city. There seems to be quite a lot behind this Geass.
[ A beat. ]
A pleasure to meet you then, Mao. I find... this may be the start of a rather beneficent friendship, if I may use such a term.
voice;
[And then a moment of stunned silence. Friendship...? Huh, no one ever wanted to be friends with him before--at least someone other than C.C. Sure, there had been children when he'd brave a venture into town with her, but they were so mean! Teasing him about his eyes and thinking so many unkind things--he certainly didn't want to be friends with someone like that.
His tone takes on a sharper edge to it.]
I hope you're not the kind to backstab, Doctor Muraki~ I re~ally hate people like that. Liars and backstabbers are the absolute worst.
voice;
[ Of course, he uses the term loosely. In the connotation of "someone who won't openly kick his ass" to be sure. Allies would have been a proper word but when one was wearing the face of a more than cordial young doctor, well... friendship was a good thing. ]
Despite what you may hear from the wrong lips, Mao, I assure you. To the right people, I am quite trustworthy.
Having said this, I believe you the right sort of person who can consider me such.
voice;
voice;
Perhaps there is a measure of truth to what others are prone to say... however, it seems that some accounts can tend to be over exaggerated, if I may say.
[ A beat. This one was interesting. ]
You mentioned not having any residence here, am I correct?
voice;
It's always amusing to see how far they'll stretch the truth, isn't it?
[He makes a small sound in the back of his throat.]
Mmhm!
voice;
Indeed. Especially when searching for allies.
[ A beat. ]
I'll come up front. You interest me, Mao. I find... there's quite a lot I can learn from you.
My apartment has a second room, if you'd be so inclined. My only requirements are that you clean up after yourself and that you aren't averse to cigarette smoke on occasions.
