[He wants to run, but he can't. He can't move, frozen with fear, hands with claws buried deep in his flesh holding him down, the blood draining from his body and leaving him too weak to struggle.

And all the time, that mirthful sound is getting closer]

HONK.

honk.

[The Grand Highblood grabs him, pulls him up, and you smell the stink of blood on his breath, before feeling the pain of his teeth sinking into his throat.]

HONK

[Dualscar wakes with an audible yell, struggling out of the blankets. He then curls up tight, drawing them over his head again, so he's buried and invisible, only the tips of his horns showing before the video ends]

Dualscar. Dualscar, what hive are you in?

[The voice rouses him a bit and he grabs his dreamberry, pulling it under his blankets with him.]

Wwhat? I'm at my nicer hivve. Wwhat's wwrong?

Nothing's wrong.

[Signless has already left his hive and is heading across Vatheon.]

Just want to come see you, that's all.

Oh...all right.

[Then he'd better get up, hadn't he? He switches off the dream berry and pulls the blanket back, running a hand through his mussed hair and scowling. He dresses casually and is downstairs in the living room, kettle on the boil, by the time Signless arrives]

[And the moment Signless is in the hive, he goes right to his moirail and hugs him fiercely.]

[Oh wow, he has no idea what's happening. He strokes Signless' hair and paps him lightly on the back with his other hand, trying to reassure him. Whatever happened to Signless, it must have been bad.]

Wwhat? Wwhat happened?

Nothing happened. You just seemed like you needed a hug.

Wwhy? [He's so confused, Signless.] I wwas just asleep and--

[He stops and stiffens, then pulls out his dreamberry and looks, letting Signless go and pulling away from him as he looks for a post made by him that he didn't mean to make.]

Oh fuckin' god.

[Well, this is awkward.]

[Signless puts his arms around Dualscar's waist, hugging him from behind, and contemplates trying to climb up the taller troll's back so he can pap his fins.]

That's been happening to everyone this week. I'm sorry.

[He shifts back a little, letting Signless into fin-papping range if he wants to, but he's still watching the video that went out and pretty much wants to die]

I knoww it has... It happened to you, and to Darkleer.

[He tosses the damn thing across the room, not trying to break it exactly, but just wanting it away from him]

So you saww.

[Yes, good... Signless reaches up and paps at Dualscar's fins, leaning heavily on the other troll's back.]

I did. If you want to talk about it, we can. If not, that's okay too.

There's nothin' to talk about. [His fins are a little stiff, but as Signless rubs them, they relax slightly and so does he. He shifts to lean back against Signless, closing his eyes with a soft shiver]

I dream about it a lot. It's nothin' neww.

Come on.

[Signless takes hold of Dualscar's wrist and starts trying to pull him towards his spa in the basement of the hive.]

Let's get you in some water, that'll make you feel better.

[Oh, Signless is learning. Dualscar gets up and follows, happy to take the suggestion. Sitting in the warm water does help calm him after a nightmare.]

You really didn't havve to make a fuss. It's just on account a there not bein' any sopor here...

You're upset. Of course I'm going to make a fuss.

[There, end of argument.]

[Once they're in the spa, Signless strips off his cloak and his tights, right down to his underwear, and climbs in.]

[Dualscar shakes his head. He just can't win, but he doesn't really want to, either. He strips down, also, and slides into the water, tugging Signless close]

Do you evver have nightmares? Or is it all trolls frolicking through rainbowws an candy land?

... I have nightmares sometimes.

[Signless' voice is quiet, and his arms tighten a little around Dualscar.]

Remember what I showed you during the thought bubble curse? That was one of my nightmares.

[He nods, tucking his chin against the top of Signless' head and tightening his arms around the younger troll]

A course...

[Signless stays quiet for awhile then, keeping curled tight against Dualscar, lost in his thoughts.]

Do you really think wwe'll stay here forevver?

[Signless shifts against him.]

I hope so.

[He reaches up and puts one hand on Dualscar's fin.]

I don't want us to go back to being enemies.

[He closes his eyes and leans into the hand, fin fanning out a little under Signless' fingers.

He feels the same way, and the guilt weighs heavily on him. He can't quite voice the sentiment aloud, but he nods jerkily and tightens his arms]

[That's good enough for Signless, and he gently strokes Dualscar's fin, toying with the spines and delicate tissues.]

Take it ya know Fluffy then.

[Sliding his hand through his hair.] Have any mates ya can hang with?

[He scowls at his dreamberry, why is it even talking to him right now?]

Fluffy?

The one that jus' tried ta kill ya in that dream this thing shared. Big troll with all the hair?

[Oh sweet merciful Christ. The answer doesn't come for a few minutes, as he investigates and confirms that yes, his dream was displayed publicly, and no, he can't do fuck all about it.

Finally he replies.] You call the Grand Highblood Subjugglator 'Fluffy'.

[There was a nod before a shrug.]

That I do. [Acting like that was totally normal.] Haven't seen him 'round since before the little ones made that announcement 'bout taking care o' him.

I'vve seen him since then. [He's still weirded out, though] Do you call him that to his face?

[There was another nod from the Captain.] Last time I seen him, I did.

...Howw did he react?

Moody, but he was already moody 'bout feeling sick thanks to another curse. Think he jus' left it since I told him what was happening. I also call him a couple o' other things. Shorter than his actual name.

I see. [He smiles faintly] You did wwell. Wwhat did you say your name wwas?

[Grins in return.] Faris Scherwiz. Have a preference or should I jus' make something up?

[Snorts softly] My name's Orphaner Dualscar.
