[Judging by that loud yawn, Mickey has taken one of his lazy long naps. he rubs the sleep out of his eyes, and turns on the device, ready to start the day.]

I heard there's some commotion goin' on... Is everyone okay? If anyone needs me, I...

[... Wait. Something's not right. He pauses, pulling back his hand, and then... it clicks.]

Unfortunately so. And this begs the question - just how long will we be stuck in these forms? I don't like feeling so... naked.

[Awkwardly, he tries to sit back, though the former-Lombax is pretty unbalanced without his tail.]

Well, normal curses don't last too long...

[He seems unbalanced as well, as he tries to stand up... and, after feeling very wobbly, promptly sits back down.]

Oddly enough, Ratchet claimed to have no alterations. So I'm just wondering why it's only a select few of us?

As for Minnie... has she ever witnessed one of these curses? I'm sure you'll be fine if you just explain what's happening.

I still say everythin' here is completely random...

And she's been through a few curses herself, but she's gotta be stuck with an ugly mug of a husband now!

[He takes a pause.]

... Actually, yer not so bad off. Ya remind me of my teacher.

[He'd much rather be a Lombax, thank you very much. Wasn't that the whole purpose of what he did back home, to get the Lombax race back?]

... Your teacher was human?

Yeah. He's from an outside world... he taught me how ta use my weapon, and how ta use magic. He's just taller, and his beard is bigger. Definitely bald though, I've seen under the hat!

[Aaand paid for it.]

...one can be taught magic? I always assumed it was a natural phenomenon.

I dunno how it works on other worlds, but that's how it is back home. if ya have the talent for it, ya can be taught. My magic is usually for fighting, but I do have a healing spell type too.

And what about portals? Time-manipulation?

Huh? We don't have any of that. Time-travel is incredibly dangerous.

Depending on how you go about it.

No how's about it. Things in the past shouldn't be touched, or there can be serious consequences. There are things I wish I could go back and change, but that could always just make things worse.

Or it could change the future for the better. It can bring back a race, years-since lost!

[He actually looks a little pained at that. He hasn't lost a race - but many good friends.]

There are things that will always be out of our control. If we keep trying to change the past, we'll never have a future.

We wouldn't have to keep changing it. Just... alter one detail.

One detail alters another, which alters another, and so on. Even worse, that kind of power could get into the wrong hands. That was why the existence of other worlds was originally supposed ta be a secret.

So we would protect it from those who would want to abuse it. We would be in greater numbers! I could reassemble the Guard, and things would be as they should be.

...though I'm afraid I don't understand the concept of hiding space travel?

Originally, many of us did our best to hide the fact that other worlds exist. Not other planets... but other fully-functionin', powerful worlds. The wrong kind of people would seek ta conquer 'em. And when the bad guys found out, that's exactly what they set out ta do. Many worlds were covered in darkness, some were lost in sleep, and many people suffered. Powers and knowledge that can have good intentions can also always be twisted dependin' on who has them.

If we hid the fact other worlds existed... perhaps there wouldn't be as many problems occurring in the galaxy. They would be confined to the worlds themselves.

But as it is, we cannot delve in peaceful fantasies. If there are dark forces out there, they will need to be stopped. I myself did whatever I could to keep Dr. Nefarious at bay in my own universe, even if it... uneased the other, peaceful locals some.

But I digress. I tried righting the wrongs of our home world, but it... backfired, long ago. Forgive me for being so brash.

[He smiles kindly. In fact, he doesn't seem to have been a bit bothered by the conversation. He's been on the receiving end of such lessons for many, many years.]

Aw, it's no big deal. We all gotta fight for what we believe in, and sometimes that lets us make mistakes along the way. I'm sorry about what happened ta ya and yer race. I gotta admire the fact that yer still standin' here.

And besides, we're pals by now. If we can't vent out at each other, where can we?

['Because I'm a coward', he wants to say. But he assumes he's already made too much of a deal as it was, and the former-Lombax bites his tongue.]

...I've actually passed, in my home realm. Vatheon is the only thing keeping me alive otherwise. [And he still isn't sure how he feels about that.] But I can rebuild my life here. I... want to try.

As I've said, you're a good man, Mickey. And please, do feel free to come to me if you need to talk. It seems like half the time, I'm the one yammering on.

Watch out, I just mgiht hold ya ta that! And once I get ta babbli', it's not that easy ta stop.
