[ After days of panic and anxiety Kaito has finally calmed down enough to think over his situation calmly and rationally. Well... Calmly and rationally for him anyway. He knows that keeping up the act isn't doing neither her or him any favors and he knows-at least he thinks he knows what his dad would tell him to do. His dad would tell him to tell Aoko. And there's no way Kaito can ignore something his dad would tell him. ]

I know it's a little odd for me to filtering this to you, please believe I have my reasons. Would you mind meeting up with me? There's a door by the back of the house that leads straight into my room, just knock on it and I'll answer.

Good evening, it's come to my attention recently that I'm not well acquainted with most of you, so I thought I should try and fix that. We're all stuck in the same bubble so it's important that I know my fellow residents.

[ ...And a few minutes later, there is indeed a knocking on the back door! Aoko shuffles her weight from side to side as she waits, still trying to figure out what this is about.

[ Kaito doesn't usually ever feel like he has butterflies in his stomach and even now that's not exactly the analogy he'd use. If Butterflies were in his stomach he's mostly sure they must have razor sharp knives that they're scraping along the inside of his gut because that's how nervous this is making him. He settles down on to his bed and lays down to stare at the ceiling above and tries hard not to rehearse the scene about to unfold in his mind. If he does that he'll probably chicken out. ]

[ At the sound her knocking on the door he gets up, goes over to his door to make sure no one's listening in, and finally goes to the back door to let Aoko in, pulling the door open quietly. ]

Thanks for coming, I-I know this is highly unusual.

[ Just going to kind of. nod awkwardly to his greeting - seriously, she doesn't know what to say at first, because she's so confused at this point - as she enters the room.

Mrr. Aoko doesn't like feeling so unsettled, especially with someone she doesn't know very well. She can't get out her anxiety with bantering insults or punches, so it just stays bottled inside. She wrings her hands nervously against each other, but that doesn't do anything to soothe her nerves.

...Might as well get this over with. ]

What....did you want to talk about?

[ He glances towards his door and wonders if maybe he should have made it sound proof. He would ask her to follow him into the secret room but somehow he couldn't bring himself to make her that uncomfortable. ]

A subject that-[ Maybe he should have thought this through because he now has no clue how to tell her this or perhaps more accurately, he never had a clue how to tell her this. She would hate him, wouldn't she? Well.. maybe he could test the waters a little bit? ] -that maybe be potentially upsetting and I wanted to confirm a few things with you first.

You're Nakamori's daughter, correct? I thought I should warn you that Kid has shown up a time or two so I've been working out what I can based on what I know about the thief.

Aoko can't help but make a small, frustrated noise. ]

He isn't very active though, nothing stolen just an appearance over the network once or twice. But I think I might know who he really is-if you're interested?

Aoko doesn't think you really know who he is, though. [ Crossing her arms and looking rather stubborn. ] Even my dad doesn't know!

[ And her dad, being the foremost expert on all things KID, would have to know if this detective did. ]

He's probably more interested in finding a way out, I would expect.

[ Except that he's kind of given up on that while trying to juggle everything that he's managed to drag himself into. ]

Ah yes, well.. as to Nakamori-keibu's... general lack of success, I think it just might because he's looking in the wrong place. I've thought for some time now that the Kid that first appeared in Paris eighteen years ago, is not the same Kid that reappeared only recently after an eight year break. It's my personal belief that the Kid we're chasing now is the son of the original.

The...son?

[ Yeah, she can pretty safely say that her dad hasn't come up with anything like that. ]

KID doesn't really seem like the fatherly type...

[ Not that she was ever very familiar with the KID of eight-plus years ago, but still. That was a very, very weird thought. ]

Ah-Well.. I know that Kid is somewhere around my age-he doesn't use a mask when he disguises as me so you intrigued me the other day when you mistook me for someone else.

[ Just adding to the list of things that are hard to believe, here. ]

You think there are three of you who look alike?

[ Because. Kaito's not KID, and this guy helped her father chase KID or something once, so neither of them are likely candidates. ]

[ ...It really hurts to hear just how sure she is that he's not Kid. ]

Three? I don't know about that. All I know is that if it's not me it must be someone that looks like me-and if your friend shares a resemblance with me then it's only logical to want to investigate him.

[ ....Is he seriously trying to say he thinks Kaito is KID? Disapproving frown. ]

Well, Kaito's not KID. [ That tone brooks no argument. ]

My dad even thought he was once, but I proved it wasn't him.

[ SO THERE. ]

[ Yup. The guilt is just piling on. ]

Well, I asked him out on a date [ that wasn't really a date BUT NOT DWELLING ON THAT NOW ] at the same time as one of KID's heists.

I was with him the whole night - I even handcuffed him to me during the scheduled time of the heist! And KID still showed up and everything, even though Kaito never left.

So there's no way it could be him.

[ And there's also the "he wouldn't lie to me about something that big and painful" thing that she's just going to let go unspoken. ]

I see..

[ He feels like such a jerk. ]

If he is Kaitou Kid, would it be unheard of for him to have found a way around that?

[ If/when she ever learns the truth, she'd have to agree with that. ]

But he's not. It doesn't matter what Kaitou Kid could do.

I've known Kaito for almost as long as I can remember, and he'd never do something like that.

[ Ouch. Why do you have to have so much faith in him, Aoko? ]

Well, if you run across your friend anywhere in Vatheon, we'll know for sure.

[ Because you're her best friend and she trusts you more than anyone else? ]

I know for sure that you're wrong. But believe what you want, Aoko doesn't care.

Aah, I see! [Ran's eyes light up with realization.] The better you get to know people, the easier to understand them should the need arise in a case, am I right?

[ He gives her a convincing smile, though inside it kind of feels like he just sheded a good portions of his insides. ]

Huh. It's been awhile since I've seen anyone that cheerful about being here.

No point in being depressed about it. It's better to keep a level head so you don't miss anything important.

It hasn't left. I'm just realistically looking back at my past experience with this method.
