They...are like guards almost, except they wander from country to country and enforce their own bloody rules wherever they go, regardless of what that country's monarch wants. They assume that if someone disagrees with them, that that person is a Darkfriend. They immediately assume if someone denies being a Darkfriend, that they are a Darkfriend. And they believe all Darkfriends must be killed. If you are given over to a Questioner, the Whitecloaks call them something else, you are tortured into saying you are a Darkfriend. And that's what they call a trial.
