There's going to be a battle back in my world shortly after my friends and I return. Longer for Perrin than for me, but not that longer. We're not sure if we'll survive. [Quieter:] Or if our flaming world will survive.

But since we have time before Tarmon bloody Gai'don here...Any ideas for things the three of us could do? [Should he mention that they're all married? Nah, that can wait for any of that kind of suggestions.]

Oh, and one of us is missing his dominant hand, so try to make it things you can do one handed. [His eye doesn't affect much though. Well, it does. But he won't say that.

But I occupy myself with the Defense Force here. It's mostly patrol-work, and being ready should something more serious come up.

No. Light, you don't even need to follow that one, really. But seeing Rand use saidin instead of a hand is flaming unnerving. [Yeah, that restriction is just because channeling is bloody creepy. At least, Mat thinks it's creepy.]

I can't use it, so I'm just going by word of mouth. It's the male half of the One Power. Apparently if you can use it, you weave it and make things happen. Weaves of Air are what he used to hold things, since saidar, the female half of the One Power, works the same way. And they said there are five elements of the One Power; air, water, spirit, earth, and fire.

[Considering he doesn't even like it, this is probably a pretty good explanation.]

You can't see it when they use it. Only way to tell if they're weaving is if you can use it too, or if you have a ter'angreal that reacts to it.

[Right, different worlds.] A device made with the flaming One Power that doesn't amplify the amount of the One Power you can hold is a ter'angreal.

Yeah. Most people can't use it, but there's two bloody towers full of those who can use saidar or saidin. One for Aes Sedai, saidar users, one for saidin users, Asha'men.

Or the closest equivalent, anyway. Only mages can use magic. And well. Druids and clerics and bishops and the like. But the point is, it's a pretty specialized skill.

So it sounds familiar.

From what I understand of the bloody One Power, you're born with it. Is magic the same way?

They do. And they don't. I don't know, I'm not a mage. They use different types of magic but it seems to me like they use them all in the same way...

You'd have to ask Lord Pent that one, but I doubt he'll ever show up here.

But yeah, you're born with it, though you have to study it to use it well. You don't sound like you like this 'One Power' all that much, though.

That does sound like Aes Sedai and Asha'men. There are groups within at least the Aes Sedai who specialize in different things.

If he ever shows up, I will. I think someone said that you could die if you don't get training in saidar. That probably goes for saidin as well. [though until recently, being able to touch saidin meant you are basically guaranteed to be killed before you are able to die of old age

A pause]

I....have bad experiences with it. [got Healed, nearly died because of it and got holes in his bloody memory. that's actually part of why he got hung later--]

It can be used as a weapon, but that really has nothing to do with why I don't like it. Almost anything can be used as a bloody weapon.

Let's just say I'd rather get my leg flaming sown up than get Healed by an Aes Sedai. [At least when he gets his leg sown up there's no strings attached, he won't be ravenous for weeks, and he won't be over half dead when he was more or less fine before hand.]
