There's going to be a battle back in my world shortly after my friends and I return. Longer for Perrin than for me, but not that longer. We're not sure if we'll survive. [Quieter:] Or if our flaming world will survive.
[A pause]
But since we have time before Tarmon bloody Gai'don here...Any ideas for things the three of us could do? [Should he mention that they're all married? Nah, that can wait for any of that kind of suggestions.]
Oh, and one of us is missing his dominant hand, so try to make it things you can do one handed. [His eye doesn't affect much though. Well, it does. But he won't say that.

Hey, hey, we're not all from your world. What's 'sai...din'?

I can't use it, so I'm just going by word of mouth. It's the male half of the One Power. Apparently if you can use it, you weave it and make things happen. Weaves of Air are what he used to hold things, since saidar, the female half of the One Power, works the same way. And they said there are five elements of the One Power; air, water, spirit, earth, and fire.
[Considering he doesn't even like it, this is probably a pretty good explanation.]
You can't see it when they use it. Only way to tell if they're weaving is if you can use it too, or if you have a ter'angreal that reacts to it.
[Right, different worlds.] A device made with the flaming One Power that doesn't amplify the amount of the One Power you can hold is a ter'angreal.
Voice; wow enter key stop that
That sounds like magic. Except even more complicated than I'm used to.
[But he is committing these terms to memory.]
So you can't use it, but he can? Is it an uncommon thing, then?
Voice; enter keys seem to like doing that
[He might just say that next time someone asks.]
Yeah. Most people can't use it, but there's two bloody towers full of those who can use saidar or saidin. One for Aes Sedai, saidar users, one for saidin users, Asha'men.
Voice;
Or the closest equivalent, anyway. Only mages can use magic. And well. Druids and clerics and bishops and the like. But the point is, it's a pretty specialized skill.
So it sounds familiar.
Voice;
From what I understand of the bloody One Power, you're born with it. Is magic the same way?
[Don't mind his curiosity distracting him from the point of this post - he cracked open a nightflower (firework) next to a fire to see what was inside]
Voice;
You'd have to ask Lord Pent that one, but I doubt he'll ever show up here.
But yeah, you're born with it, though you have to study it to use it well. You don't sound like you like this 'One Power' all that much, though.
[It's matched by Matthew's curiousness, at least. He's not one for magic, much, but he's always curious for information.]
Voice;
That does sound like Aes Sedai and Asha'men. There are groups within at least the Aes Sedai who specialize in different things.
If he ever shows up, I will. I think someone said that you could die if you don't get training in saidar. That probably goes for saidin as well. [though until recently, being able to touch saidin meant you are basically guaranteed to be killed before you are able to die of old age
A pause]
I....have bad experiences with it. [got Healed, nearly died because of it and got holes in his bloody memory. that's actually part of why he got hung later--]
Voice;
The magic tidbits are all well and good, but this sort of thing interests him far more. He nods quietly, tilting his head.]
Bad experiences? So it's dangerous, then.
Voice;
[there's a small click as Mat fiddles with something around his neck]
Let's just say I'd rather get my leg flaming sown up than get Healed by an Aes Sedai. [At least when he gets his leg sown up there's no strings attached, he won't be ravenous for weeks, and he won't be over half dead when he was more or less fine before hand.]
Voice;
That bad, huh? None of the healing magic in my world has that kind of negative consequences. You've got it rough, then, my friend.
Voice;
I'm Mat by the way.
Voice;
[...A laugh.]
Is that so? Nice to meet you, Mat. You can call me Matthew.
Voice;
[Though all that time is filled with other men's memories now...he's just stubborn. Most of the memories of when he had the flaming ruby dagger were missing when he woke up after getting healed, so he probably couldn't really explain why even if he truly wanted to. This much information is enough for now, even if it leaves Matthew curious.
A laugh.]

Maybe we'll get to talk again sometime. This place is odd like that.
