You have been kidnapped to be used as a guinea pig, I believe is the human expression, in this underwater city where the coral you are no doubt near is worshipped as a god but isn't and may just be used as a conduit to bring us here. It certainly plays an important role, of that there is no doubt.

You will need to touch it as least weekly to keep up your energy.

Hmmm, if we had, then that would have been among the first things I would have told you.

Others have left this city to return to their own worlds, but that is something none of us can control. You may either be here for only a month, or perhaps even a full year. No one quite knows for certain how it operates, at least not yet.

As the days pass, your body gets more weak and more tired. Eventually, it gives out and you are likely to lose consciousness.

There is also a theory, I believe, that an exchange of energy takes place. In return for keeping us going in this city, our own energy keeps that barrier from failing and drowning us all.
