Rin takes the block as leverage to flip backwards and land in a crouch, snerking up at Axel at his comment.]

What's a matter? Too pretty for a little fire to the face?

[Not the best taunt, but Rin really isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

Smart enough, though, to see the pillars coming and immediately roll to the side. As soon as he realizes they're following him though, he quickly turns and lashes out with his sword, sending a huge wave of his own blue flames at them in hopes of stopping them short.]

[~~His VA's name is Quinton Flynn, but actually he doesn't voice Flynn. That's an interesting thought, though. XD~~

Axel keeps a close watch on the fire and makes sure that it stays hot and alive for as long as he can keep it but when Rin shoots that wave of blue fire towards his own the pillars are split in half and eventually burn out.

His chakrams fly back to his hands afterward.]

I think we just might go all day with this if we really wanted to.

[With that he leaps back and then starts to toss his weapons quickly at Rin, juggling them forward and back in hopes that they'll connect.]

Rin was about to agree, before those chakrams started flying again, zipping around him almost too fast to properly keep track of.

Well, that could get uncomfortable real fast.

He tries to swing at them and knock them off course, but it's not going as well as he would have hoped for.]

[Axel sees that he's got a bit of an advantage here so he keeps going, tossing his chakrams and catching them only to throw them again over and over.]

Come on, you said that you wouldn't go easy on me!

[Yeah, he did say that, didn't he? Damn projectiles are always an issue when he's such a close-ranged fighter though.]

... alright. Just remember that you asked for this!

[Rather than using his sword this time, he stops moving and pulls in a deep breath, trying to focus as much of his power as he can in the short time he has before the chakrams reach him.

He throws his arm out in an arc-like slashing movement, and with it a near-wall of blue flames erupts and goes rushing at Axel.]

[And here Axel is more comfortable dealing damage from afar. How interesting.

He keeps on tossing his weapons rapidly and keeps them brightly lit, but when he sees that slash and that wall of blue fire coming towards him he stops to catch both weapons and quickly position them in front of his body to act like a shield.

He's still pushed back, however, by a few feet or more on the sand, and if the flames die down Rin should see that Axel's much further away and with nearly half of his boots covered in sand.]

Hah! That's more like it. [he calls out.]

[He hasn't been able to do that move since the crap with Amaimon, and he was half out of control then, so the fact that he pulled it off and actually managed to do something... pretty damn impressive with it gets a short mental cheer from him.

But he keeps his head in the game for the fight, using the pause to charge forward and attempt to slash his sword at Axel.]

[Axel quickly leaps upward to get himself unstuck and after disappearing in a blur of black he reappears beside Rin to slash his chakram out and try to get him in the side.]

[Damn, Axel is fast. And Rin is just barely not fast enough. He sees the blur and attempts to get out of the way, but he's just a beat too late and his shirt and side get caught by the sharp blades.

He stumbles away with a hiss of pain, blood quickly staining his shirt.]

[With his attack successful Axel grins, leaps and tries to take advantage of Rin's momentary stumble by slashing his chakrams out one after the other in rapid succession.]

[Whoadamn!

He blocks as fast as he can, moving the sword in all directions while holding on to the handle with both hands just to keep the chakrams from getting too close again.

A few times the blades catch his arms, though, adding to the lacerations. Granted he's already healing from the first one, but it's not exactly an ideal battle tactic to get cut to shreds.

He jumps back out of the way, landing several feet from where he was and holding his sword up, pointing it at Axel but not moving just yet.]

[He has to admit, it's nice to see that the guy's able to deflect his attacks, at least. There's no fun if all he's doing is beating someone up to a pulp.

After a couple more slashes, Rin jumps back and Axel pulls away, running incredibly quickly and kicking up sand as he does.]

What, are you givin' up already?

[Taunting, of course. That's what he likes to do. Positioned far away from Rin, he holds his chakrams at his sides in preparation for what this guy might have next.]

Hell no.

[No way. He's gotten too far to quit now. It's not like he's really winning or losing, but the fact that he's lasted this far in to a spar without completely losing control means he's finally doing something right.

The sword clicks faintly as he moves his hands just slightly, and with a growl he charges forward again. This time, though, he stops just short of Axel to launch himself in to the air high, higher than any normal human would be able to jump. He spins in the air and comes down behind Axel, slashing his sword back hard, attempting to catch the other fire wielder from behind.]

[Axel just grins at that and waits for the other's next move and when it comes he watches intently for either a way to block it or use it against him. However, when done fast enough his six o-clock is always left pretty vulnerable, and in this case that's exactly what happens.

Axel just barely manages to catch it, but it's already too late to block. The sword slashes at his back but with little shock on his face or a sound he leaps up and lands several feet away from Rin.

If Rin's paying attention, then he'll be able to see not blood at first, but wisps of black, like ashes, escaping from Axel's wound.]

[That actually gets a pretty distracted stare from Rin. Is that... smoke? But where's the blood?! That should have gone through!

This would be a perfect time to knock the dumb kid down, because he's not exactly getting his head back in the game now.]

[There's quite a bit of smoke leaving his body, but after Axel manages to straighten up he quickly thinks of a healing spell and casts Cure on himself, sending a green aura around his body to patch up the wound and return the Darkness.

With everything patched up--well, save for his coat--he doesn't hesitate.

He sees his opportunity and takes it with a haughty laugh.]

Way to go! I was beginnin' to wonder when you'd stop playing!

[With emphasis on that last word Axel holds his chakrams at his sides as the sky and area around them seems to darken and fire engulfs his body to form a makeshift shield which should remain impenetrable for a short amount of time. With the flames surrounding him in every which direction Axel takes his aim and charges, juggling his fiery weapons just like before again and again in Rin's direction.]

[THAT snaps Rin out of it. He's capable of doing a lot of things with his flames, but nothing like that. At least when he's still mostly in control that is. And he's no where near breaking out any of his true demonic nature.

Yet.

Frantically he starts blocking again, but the increase in power and the flames surrounding Axel make it difficult to get much more than deflection going on. But it's enough to actually start building up frustration that he's not making much headway. A few times the chakrams actually strike him hard enough to hurt and send him stumbling back, more blood staining his shirt even as the cuts start healing relatively quickly.

This only lasts a few seconds before he finally lets out a roar and just... charges forward, blue flames lashing out wildly and with more power than before as he attempst to just tackle Axel head on.]

[Axel's rather surprised to feel that he's actually having a bit of fun here. It's rare for him to meet up with another fire user, of course, so when one does come around he'd like to see the differences between their craft. Learning and testing the limits and boundaries of himself--That's all so enriching to him.

So he's smirking as he attacks and even as Rin blocks and rebounds. By the time the other charges, however, encased in his own blue fire, Axel pauses for a beat and prepares himself for impact, arm crossed in an 'X' over his chest to make the contrasting orange flames around him roar and try to hold Rin back.

But he can feel it. There's a lot of power here between the two of them and who knows? It might be enough to actually knock the wind right out of himself.]

[Just as Axel pushes, Rin tries to push back, blue flames raging and growing in power. He can feel that pull, that desire to just give in to his demonic nature completely, but to do so he knows he would just black out and lose control. That's not what he wants to do. So he fights for control just as he fights back against Axel, pushing his power to the limit while still maintaining his human awareness.

But all that power, pushing back and forth against one another... something's gotta give eventually.]
