[The video flickers on in someone's lap, and that someone happens to be sitting somewhere high- perhaps a fence? The fence isn't important. What's being filmed is important. Kind of.]

[If you are into two intensely muscular alien men wrestling. Then it is important.]

[To anyone who can recognize the two trolls, it's obviously Equius and Darkleer with the latter keeping the other pinned down to the ground. To anyone unfamiliar with them, it looks like a pair of near identical twins with only Equius' broken horn and slightly less muscular frame being the only differences.]

[Both of them have obviously been at this for a while, if the sweat slicked over their bare torsos is any indication. They're both breathing heavily, breaking apart briefly and just staring at one another. Then Darkleer ducks in, there's a scuffle, and Equius is slammed to the ground with the two of them locked together- muscles flexing, long hair tossed everywhere, skin rubbing against skin. There are gouges in the earth from too much STRENGTH.]

[Whoever is holding the SFC makes a very soft honking noise.]

[Darkleer starts to speak as he struggles to keep Equius down.]

Come on- you can do better- [A grunt.] -don't give up so easily-

[There's a buck, and Darkleer gives a breathless chuckle but doesn't let go. Another soft honk from the camera holder.]

That's it- [A pause as he finally notices the SFC.] Gamzee are you filming this?

Very well. My son has been progressing at a good rate, both in terms of combat and controlling his strength.

We are a rather formidable race, but our strengths tend to differ individually.

Well, things such as physical combat or strength vary all across the metaphorical board. As a general rule, however, we are a very sturdy race and capable of losing vast amounts of blood yet still remain functioning. It is a necessity, considering our culture.

There are also psionic abilities to consider. Those tend to be more common amongst those with... warmer bloodcolors such as yellow and orange, and they become rarer the further you go along the hemospectrum. However, their lifespans tend to be shorter. Bluebloods such as myself and Equius tend to live longer and so our body adapts to a variety of things the further we age. We are rather difficult to take down at our peak. We also have a stronger resistance to mental abilities- mind control for instance.

Is everything determined by blood color then?

That seems to be a common reaction. We are called trolls, Miss, and our homeworld is Alternia.

A great deal of our lives are determined by it, yes. Some of it is more cultural, I would hazard to guess. There are other deciding factors which shape a troll, however, such as the kind of lusus which chooses them.

[ooooo, he'll hear her repeat the words "trolls" and "Alternia" as if committing them to memory. And man, just tell her everything give her yer secrets, Darkleer.]

A lusus? That would be like a parent or care-giver, correct?

[He honestly has little issue sharing information about their race. As far as he is concerned, one of the others would speak of it anyway and he knows there are books in the Nostalgia Quarter which mention Alternia. The real secrets are things personal to him.]

That's right. However lusii are not the same race as us. They are beasts, often more intelligent than the more common ones. They often protect us and teach us, along with toughening us up. The exact method depends on the lusus. A spider lusus will teach quite the different lesson to its charge than a seabeast.
