[He was supposed to be on his way out of the galaxy....not standing in the middle of a plaza drenched in water. What was worse was he was wearing his wool greatcoat, that was going to take forever to dry.

Jack looked around the plaza, taking everything in until, like a missing puzzle piece snapping into place, the memories flooded back to him. Vatheon. How long had he been gone? What had happened?

he reached for the SFC in his pocket and flipped it to the residency list, searching for a familiar name. Ankh, Keiji, Johnny, the Doctor, they were still gone. Even Ianto's name was missing. So, he'd come back alone. Well, not completely, Selphie's name was still on the list, but there was no telling if it was his Selphie or not.

He wouldn't know if he didn't try.

rabbing a towel to take to his hair (his clothes were a lost cause for now), he turned on the SFC and smiled.]

Hey, there, Vatheonites. Miss me? This is Captain Jack Harkness and I get the feeling I've been gone a while. Let's see...the last big thing I remember was...a confessions curse. I guess it was January here. What's been going on?

Oh, also, who's in charge of the Defense Force these days? I'd like to talk to whoever that is.

[Yeah, he'd only been back all of 10 minutes, but he wasn't looking to waste time. This wasn't the vacation he'd been intending, but he'd take it.]

Couple months, best I can figure. And I'd go with dryer clothes, but I'm waiting for my roommate to bring them, him still being here that whole time and whatever.

[But he will pull himself out of the fountain now and sit on the edge. Not dignifying that 'no clothes' thing with a comment, he thought he left that sort of teasing behind long ago.]
