Man, still? Someone's sleeping on the job around here, but it sure isn't going to be me.

Right so basically when we're brought here we're told it's to maintain the energy of the barrier around us with our own. To do that, we touch the coral and it actually restores any fatigue or injuries we might have in addition to taking a bit of our energy. You'll find a tattoo on your body somewhere that can be shown to the natives in any shop to get free stuff.

As for the curses, well...those seem to be a semi-weekly basis and can vary wildly on how they effect you. The last one I was affected by turned me into a Saiyan--oh, that's an alien species back in my universe. It can not only change your species or abilities, but it can change your personality too. So you'd better be cautious with those.
