A MONTH!? [Scribbles that down] That's the longest I've heard about someone having been in coma.

Let's see... The coral was acting up as usual,causing a massive power outage, followed by the translation system having whacked out. Then some mystical and powerful force known as 'Yami' attacked the island, only to be defeated.

[He has noticed that this person is a scientist type... but he is so confused right now, that his interlocutor will be spared Gorthan's customary "cold, unfeeling scientists will be the ruin of us all" tirade.]

From what I understand, this is not a normal comatose state. As it happens, I am in perfect health, although of course, I was famished upon waking up.

"Yami"? A... force? How did it manifest itself? And how was it defeated?

Of course it's not! Just like everything else here, it's - MAGICAL! [So twitchy in the eyes there and gnaws on his pen top. There's a pause and then he groans]

You where famished?! Huh, interesting. [But then Crocker lives with constant hunger]

Yes, it was literally, a force of darkness and one of those white dogs with - WINGS! Apparently, is from that universe and was able to magically travel cross dimenstion here... Not sure how it manifest itself, suppose with the despair, hopelessness and darkness life actually is.

Those white dogs, are apparently some kind of gods and everyone was told to pray and be hopefully in order to give power to them.

Well, ya may have lucked out. We had some real trouble with a vicious monster... but we managed ta defeat it by workin' together. I even got a new power out of it, somehow.

[A sigh.] It would seem I have missed a battle of epic proportions... fair enough.

[Gorthan quirks an invisible eyebrow.]

A new power, you say? What sort of power?

It's kinda weird... I ain't felt or seen anythin' like it before. I use my blade to kinda draw a straight line in the air... and then whatever's ahead of me is cut! Without me touchin' it!

[He frowns and recoils a little at Mickey's description of his power. That is a fearsome power, indeed.]

A power such as the one you describe requires wisdom and discernment in order to be wielded. Do you trust you have what it takes?

The way I see it, this power chose me... so if whoever sent them out believes in me, then I sure can.

[But he can't resist the chance to sass.]

Not ta mention I already wield magic, a weapon, and rule over a kingdom. I think I got the 'wisdom and discernment' stuff down by now.

[Aaand sassing generally doesn't go over well with this guy. He takes air in audibly, his already large chest puffing out a little.]

And as a ruler yourself, I trust you are very aware of the dangers of a prideful attitude. Today, you may deserve the power you have been endowed with. Tomorrow, who knows... A fearsome emperor, known and respected across countless quadrants... underneath his rich robes, he may be rotting in sin and dishonor.

[Gurrrl he'd roll his eyes if he didn't think you'd pout at that too.]

If I haven't proven that I'm a good guy yet, I guess I've really got my work cut out.

I know we don't know each other that well, but if it worries ya that much, then... I promise.

[He pats his chest once.]

I promise not ta abuse this power and only use it ta help others.

[For a moment, he blinks, sincerely impressed.

[he blinks, and then... smiles sadly.]

... If ya mean Minnie... she got sent back. Now she's safe and sound at home.

[Here, your typical extraterrestrial baddie would smirk sadistically and rejoice in Mickey's sadness. Gorthan... remains in impassive silence for a moment and then nods slowly.]

Wherever your home is, may she be safe. If your love is true, distance will be no obstacle to the closeness of your hearts.

[He takes it very well, appreciating that Gorthan's being very civil about this.]

What are you referring to? I may be incapable of emotions, but that does not mean that I do not recognize their nobility.

It did not use to be that way, I will admit. But it was Earth's Guardian who opened my eyes.

[He sighs and brings a small, flat device closer to the SFC camera. A green light blips on it before generating a three-dimensional holographic image of, you guessed that right... him.

It is a very good and clear image, and... whether the flimsy mask actually does anything to conceal Donald's identity to Mickey is at your discretion. Idk.]

They call him Superduck, and he is my nemesis. And yet, one of the few I can call my friends... I owe my life to him, among other things.

[that's a double... triple... quadruple take!]

[It's moments like this one wishes they had eyebrows. Gorthan's brow furrows anyway.]

... Unless. Did you just reveal his civilian identity to me? But, to my knowledge, magic is a very scarcely known art on Earth, and "mage" does not constitute a profession.

[He scratches his head.]

Wait... this has ta be... This has happened before! People who've recognized me from their world, even though I've never met them... and I've met people who I knew before, but they were from different worlds so they didn't know me. A case of our copies in other worlds.

[He seems thoughtful for a moment, but finally nods.]

I see. Three of my acquaintances here have known each other for a long time, but each of them is from a world that slightly differs from the other two... A few similarities could exist between our worlds as well.

[Meanwhile, the Donald/Superduck hologram is still there.]

Donald Duck, you say? Have another look. Are you sure it is your friend?

[he squints, looks it over, and nods.]

I dunno if that's his name or anythin' in yer world, but he looks exactly like the Donald from mine. a real swell fella, I've known him since I was a kid.

And you're saying he can... wield magic?

[Eeep, if Superduck can use magic, the Evronian army is even more screwed than it is now...]

Yup. He's one of the strongest mages across the worlds! And he's always learning new spells. He's also very loyal, and I know I can count on him.

People with the mark of the Lamufao have a chance of falling into a coma-like state. Generally, they last no longer than a month. You should go touch the coral when you have the chance so that you do not fall ill, sir.

I see. I thank you for your explanation. I thought I was replenishing myself at the coral diligently... Evidently, I was wrong. I may have become too immersed in my studies once again...

Even if you touch the coral on a regular basis, you may still fall into a coma. Unfortunately, if that coma lasts for longer than a month, you may have coral sickness when you awaken. It's quite frustrating.

Coral... sickness?

[Oh boy. As if his incipient disease - the ability to feel emotions, that is - wasn't enough...]

What do you know about this ailment?

It is what happens if one doesn't touch the coral for over a month. The symptoms vary from person to person, but most commonly people feel dizzy and feverish.

[Duke had a terrible case when he woke up. She had to carry him to the coral! Guy'd had a bad case of it too.]

Extended sleep seems to be a hazard of this land.

Fortunately no, though I have heard of such a sleep plaguing various people in the past.

It does. I miss my home and my people greatly. My land is beautiful, coated in cherry blossoms in the spring and snow in the winter. It is well protected by the elements.

[Motochika sits in his garden, his shamisen upon his lap and his oshawott with him. One hand remains curled around the neck of his instrument, and for a moment the edge of the video is obscured by his bachi, which he holds in the hand he works the SFC with.]

The risk of enchanted sleep has always been part of life in Vatheon. There is no way to predict its onset, nor its duration. Normally it runs its course in a matter of weeks. Gracia once slept for two months.

As for what you have missed... this month a battle between gods took place. Yet more interesting were the consequences of their battle. The damage done to the island's surface gave us foreigners access to one of the local scientists' research facilities. It was emptied out before they abandoned it, but even a bare shell holds information.

Moreover, the damage lead to the return of Thalassino, Vatheon's high priestess.

[What is it with these Earthlings and their strange pets... Gorthan keeps his eyes on the Oshawott, fascinated by the creature. Until he hears that bit about Gracia... at which point his eyes widen in alarm and worry.]

Hm. It appears that what I have missed is a battle of epic proportions... one that I would very much have liked to witness. Can you provide an account of it?

... A research facility, on the island? Ah, I always knew that this place was some sort of mirror of R'ur Kil! [There is a bit of anger in his voice, but it subsides quickly.] So it is possible to access it... I shall go have a look as soon as I have a chance.

[ Gracia smiles; she's incredibly happy that Gorthan was still in Vatheon. She'd lost too many friends without a goodbye because of the cursed sleep... ]

Gorthan! You were just asleep...I'm so glad you're awake now! [ She tucks loose hair behind her ear. ] You have nothing to worry about. Everyone, at one point, sleeps for a long time. Even me and Father.

[ Gracia hums, her chin tilted upwards, lips in a pout. ]

You missed quite a lot though. Where shall I began...?

Gracia!

[And whether Gorthan likes it or not, every bit of his concern is evident when he answers. Gracia is by far the person he was most eager to contact as soon as he woke up. He doesn't want to think about what that means...]

... Thank you for contacting me. And, yes, Motochika said something about you being asleep for two months consecutively...? Your father must have been very worried... [Implying Gorthan himself would worry extremely as well.]

Take your time, Gracia. I understand a lot has been going on... are you safe?

[ The young lady chuckles slightly, the corners of her eyes crinkling in her delight. She scratches her cheek as she replies. Three of her fingers are still recovering from her injury, hence being bandaged, but they've gone a long way from being broken. ]

Of course I'd contact you, silly! We're friends, remember? Friends check up on each other, especially when you haven't seen them for a long time. [ She nods. ] I woke up so stiff and hungry, you wouldn't believe it! He was, but not too much. He checked up on me every once in a while, so it was alright I think. [ Her smile drops slightly. ] Speaking of which, Father is asleep right now. I hope he'll wake up soon.

I'm safe, yes! [ She begins recounting the events he had missed... ] Let's see...there was a monster called Yami that went up on the island. It caused all sorts of trouble, but we were able to defeat it. Father took part in that battle, and gained incredible strength! [ Gracia sighs dreamily, before shaking out of it and continuing. ] Besides that, the island also seems to have a strange research facility that you can explore if you want. [ Her expression turns dark. ] It's the lab that they took us when we were kidnapped for three days. You should go take a look at it, Gorthan. You're smart, so you might be able to help out with the investigations!

[As long as Gorthan sees the bandaging, Gracia will be treated to the rare sight of the space conqueror freaking the hell out.]

Gracia! You are hurt! Did you somehow become involved with the battle as well?

[And... now he will feel extremely bad because he was not able to somehow prevent all this. And just the fact that he will feel anything at all will be enough to confuse him.]

I will be sure to visit that place. Science is not evil in itself... and yet, misusing it can originate all manners of evils.

Your lying to me about your health concerns me. Did you simply not want me to worry, or is your father such a poor teacher?

[ Gracia only dismisses him with another smile. She also flexes her fingers, curling them against her fist for emphasis. ]

I tried to fight the Yami, but regular punching just wouldn't harm it. I made a mistake, but Gorthan should calm down! I'm fine now, it's almost fully healed! [ Her expression grows fond, however. ] Thank you for always worrying for my safety. You're a very good friend, yes indeed!

[ Now that that's out of the way... ] I can accompany you if you want. I've already explored that place, though I wasn't able to find anything of use...But maybe if I go with you next time, we'll find something that will help solve the mystery?

[ She tilts her head to the side. ] I'm not lying, I promise I'm not! I'm really alright! And Father would never teach me such things! He's much too honorable! [ Gracia can't help but laugh at his persistence. It reminds her of her Father, clearly, yet at the same time it's Gorthan's own brand of protectiveness she's not completely used to. ]

[Yes, he is worried to death, but he will still do all he can to act tough.]

Almost is not completely. As for the way you fought the monster, your father once mentioned to me that he, along with Motochika, possessed powers akin to magic. Do you not possess those powers yourself?

[... Not to mention that he has no idea what to do with the "you're a very good friend" remark. It's quite fortunate that Evronians are unable to blush.]

What did you see there? Even if it provided no leads.

[ She shrugs, still smiling. ] Almost means it's getting there, though! And yes, I have those powers too. It's called musou, or battle magic as I heard Father call it once! It's what we use to make our attacks on the battlefield all the more powerful! [ This time, she raises both her hands up to the sides of her face. She clenches her fists once, as if preparing herself for a fight. ] A lot of my attacks use it, actually. But even so, musou was useless against the Yami. It took a special blessing to defeat it! Best ask Father; he fought in it more than I did.

[ You should be used to that by now, Gorthan <3 ]

Lots of empty rooms, but some had blood smears on the walls...[ Gracia sighs. ] We found the white room where they took us as well. The place where we were when we got kidnapped a few months ago. Our names were on a list. [ The very act of recalling that moment gets her hairs raising. It was an unpleasant experience - one she had to go through with a few others, including Mitsuhide, before she met Gorthan. ] There was also a laboratory, a place with a password that we don't know, and an exit tunnel!

[While he seems very interested by Gracia's description, he closes his eyes gravely when it ends. Something twitches on his brow, a small sign of anger.]

Of course... as I suspected from the start! We are being studied and experimented on... like what happens in that hellish pit, R'ur Kil! As marvelous as the many disciplines of science are, those who apply them truly know no scruples and are the bane and the ruin of all planets everywhere... and you say you were kidnapped, too? What did your father and Motochika do?

[ Okay, most of that flew over her head. Your words, Gorthan. Sometimes they are too big for Gracia to follow xD But it's okay. Even if she didn't get the essence of his words, she was able to see that anger hidden beneath them. She blinks and tries to comfort him with another reassuring smile. ]

Gorthan, how agitated you are! Calm down and take a deep breath!

[ A slight nod. ] Yes, I was. Unfortunately, Father was kidnapped just like I was. Motochika was left searching for us both, for three whole days. And when we finally found each other...[ She frowns sadly. She prefers not to remember how different they had all acted. How much sadder she was, and how little hope there seemed to be. ]

[While he does try to calm down as Gracia says, he cannot help but be concerned when she won't finish her sentence. In a moment of complete lack of empathy, as is usual for Gorthan's species, he simply cannot fathom why she'd do that.]
