001 ;; Almost weirder than the dragon. ALMOST ;; Video/Action

[ For those out and about this morning, there is a girl flying above the city. She seems to be looking intently for something, as she will occasionally return to the ground to look around and peer at people, buildings, alleyways...before taking flight again. In all actuality, she isn't looking for anything specific--She's just hoping to stumble upon anybody familiar, or anything that might indicate a way out.

After a while and long-since dry, she returns to the plaza, actually looking at the welcome brochure and SFC.

Well...here goes nothing. ]

Vatheon, huh? Can't really say I'm all that happy to be here--you know, important things going on back home and all.

[ There's a thoughtful pause. ]

But I've got to know: Am I really the only one from my world to get dragged here? Because that doesn't really strike me as being normal. Not when you were with a bunch of other people before waking up here--[ A sigh ]--Not that I even know what normal is anymore, with how today's been going.

[ She should have known that things would go down hill when she saw a giant, magic dragon get summoned by a bunch of balls. Seriously. ]

Anyway, if anyone see's a guy by the name of Goku, would you let me know? ...Something tells me he'd know what to do in this situation.

[ You know more about me than I know about you--The words surprise her. How could he not know who she is, after everything? She frowns, her brow furrowed and the tears still in her eyes as she peers down at the video...

And she finally notices the differences, even though she doesn't want to. His hair was shorter, and he had a harder look about him than the Gohan she knows--Yet she doesn't want to believe it, the possibility that he's not who she thinks he is.

After all, it was illogical...wasn't it? ]

Gohan you idiot, what are you talking about? How could you not...[ She scowls and shakes her head, more than ready for this day to just be over and done. ]

[IT'S OKAY HE IS PREPARED FOR THIS CONTINGENCY. And he opens his mouth to say something about the future.

Only, no. He has no more future.

But the time-travel is on the right track, and he remembers Bulla, her tales of an alternate world where he'd had a normal life.]

Okay, you know more about me, but I think I know more about... what's... going on.

[Clearly uncomfortable, he sets the SFC down in front of him on a table. The effective zoom-out makes his empty sleeve more easily visible, and he's too busy with his thoughts to remember to try and hide it.]

Do you know anything about time-travel?

...Time-travel? [ She pauses a moment to think. Aside from it being a plot-line in novels and the like, it wasn't really something she'd ever though about. ] Not really. I don't even think something like that is possible.

[ Not that she would be surprised if it turned out to be a thing. ]

But what does that have to do with anything?

[ Unless--his sleeve catches her eye and interrupts her thoughts, if only because it looked wrong somehow. She takes the time to examine the screen curiously--give her a moment here to realize just what's missing. ]

It's very possible. Do you know Bulma? I assume if you know my father and... well, me, you must have at least met her...

[If he establishes that she knows Bulma, then she'll hopefully just take it for granted that Bulma's a genius and he won't have to explain the hows and whys. Bit too involved for a confused girl, he thinks.]

Would you rather talk in person, for that matter? Can't be nice to be by yourself here. I mean, someone you know but doesn't know you is better than a complete stranger, right?

Well, I can't say I know her very well, but I've met her, yeah. Which...I guess explains all that. [ It doesn't really, but she's not exactly in the mood to try and figure out time shenanigans. Besides, if anyone could figure out how to time-travel, it would be someone at Capsule Corp.

She brightens a bit, though, when he asks if she'd like to see him. ]

You wouldn't mind? I mean, I guess it must be weird, to be in this situation.

No, of course not. [His smile's always a little grimmer than the Gohan she knows, but it's sincere.]

I'll be right there. You're near the square, aren't you? Won't take me too long.

[ She nods, offering a small smile in return. ]

Yeah, that's right. I'll just wait for you here, I guess.

[It won't be very much longer before he's visible in the air above her.

Still midair, he bows in greeting. Dad told him to always be nice to girls, okay.]

If you don't mind flying, I can carry you someplace more... secluded? Less busy, anyway.

No need for that, I can just follow you.

[ And as if to prove her point, she rises off the ground to meet him in the air.

--and then she spots the arm, her brows knitting together in worry. She nearly asks about it--or to be more accurate, freak out over it. Demand to know what happened to him--but she manages to hold herself back, biting her lip and looking away, down to the people below.

Freaking out around people you know, and around people you don't are two different things, and she doesn't want to make a scene in the middle of a crowd of strangers. ]

You're right, though. We should probably head somewhere less crowded.

[That... that earns her some raised eyebrows. WELL SURE ANYONE CAN LEARN TO FLY, but they usually don't, not people from Earth. But... she knows them, right?

It's kind of second-nature to track her gaze, and once he realizes it, he immediately shifts that side away from her. Self-conscious and more than a little bit conspicuous.

Can't quite meet her gaze after that.]

It's-- it's up to you. We can go higher up, or just back to where I live. If you know me, you probably know Trunks.

[ She frowns slightly at his reaction--but quickly masks it with the best smile she can manage at the moment, to try and...well, she's not sure what. She just knows she doesn't like seeing him act like that.

She can ask about the arm later, anyway. ]

I don't know him well, but yeah, we are acquainted. [ A thoughtful pause. ] So why don't we just go back to your place?

[Not really seeing the need for a verbal agreement, he just takes off. Pace isn't too much, but he makes it back to his and Trunks' place in good time.

And he unlocks the door. He'd remembered the key, that was good.]

I guess just make yourself comfortable to start out? I could get you a drink...

[He doesn't entertain much.]

What I have to say is probably somewhat surprising, but I'm sure you'll have something surprising to say, too.

[ She follows easily enough, and when he invites her in and tells her to make herself comfortable, she finds the nearest chair and sits down. ]

It's alright, you don't have to get me anything. I'm more interested in understanding what's going on, anyway.

[He's relieved by the sitting. Given his mother's tendency to faint...

He chooses a different chair; close enough to converse easily, but still with some distance. No crowding.]

We-ell... I mentioned time-travel, remember? We had someone... come here a while ago...

[Rubs the back of his neck, because it is. Rather ludicrous.]

And she talked about how Trunks using the time machine... changed things. You recognize me, but I don't recognize you. That really can only mean you're from that other world Trunks helped.

[ It was a lot to stomach, and she ends up folding her hands in her lap and frowning down at them for a short time. ]

So you really don't know...[ She shakes her head, disappointed. Though she has to wonder what else he doesn't know. Just where did their worlds split off? ]

Still, though, I guess I have to believe you. I mean, it's not like the Gohan I know is a great liar, and I really doubt that's something that would change from one world to another.

[He rubs the back of his neck awkwardly.]

That sounds about right... I don't think I tell as easily as when I was a kid, but the-- it's still there.

[But here's something that may be important in the future!]

Can I ask what I was lying about? Or-- um. How we know each other?

Yeah, no problem--You transferred to my school. [ She laughs a little, shaking her head. ] And you thought it would be a good idea to disguise yourself as a masked crime-fighter.

I had you figured out from the beginning, though. [ Okay, not really. But she figured it out eventually! ]

A real school?

[That catches his interest quiiiite a bit. Trunks changed more than he'd really been capable of conceiving. More androids, stronger monsters, and...]

I can see the logic of a masked... crime fighter. I'm pretty sure my mom wouldn't want me attracting attention to myself. Even if Dad was okay with it, but that's how most things work.

Still, you must be smart.

Yeah.

Well, I know there was logic behind it, but you still looked ridiculous. [ She laughs. ] Though really, I'm surprised your mom even let you do that much. [ Since she's so intent on the studying stuff. ]

Yeah, I guess. I'm usually out of class more than I'm in it, though.

Doesn't that prove it? That you're smart enough not to be there?

[He smiles, but... he's surprised, too. And a little fascinated. Not going to lie.]
