[Maybe the problem isn't that Ky has too much spare time, maybe he simply hasn't formulated the right things to do to fill his time. Clearly cooking is a skill that many people have that he lacks -- although he's not sure it's one that he can really obtain, since he recently tried and the fact that Sol lives above him makes him even more self-conscious than usual when Ky starts to be making his own smoke.

It has become clear to him that simply taking up more patrols with the Defense Force isn't ideal, and he can and has exercised but even that leaves him wanting something more.

And, well, why not? If he ends up not remembering or retaining anything from here then it's not really a loss, and if he does gain a skill then it can help him.]

What sort of things have people been able to learn that they consider useful? Not so much magic that can't be taught, but, for instance, how to stitch a wound, or fire a bow?

You don't have to be able to teach it...although I suppose it would help me if you could and were willing to.

[Malik blinks.]

I suppose fishing isn't for everyone.

I suggest writing all the more strongly then. You can do it almost anywhere, it's a particularly good activity when things are quiet and there isn't anything else to do, and there are no boundaries on what you could write. Poems, stories, jokes, even plays about food ingredients.

[Malik has an enthusiastic face.]
malik_caesar: Take that! (Cocky)

Of course it can help someone else. Think of the smiles or the tears that you could evoke from others as they live in the worlds you create.

Everyone loves a good story.

Haven't you ever come away from reading something feeling good or inspired?

[Someone needs a lot more self-confidence.]

Which is why you should practice. You'll never know until you try.

[Malik rubs his goatee, a small amount of frustration settling in from this stubborn knight. It's not the first knight that he's met with this kind of attitude and in some ways he respects the dedication and seriousness on display.]

What about gardening?
malik_caesar: That's right. (Sly)

If you don't have any space down here in the bubble. A close friend of mine has a nice garden right outside our house.

Going up to the island does have the advantages of fresh sea air and sun.

[And for casting lighting without electrocuting things!]

[Shhh. It's MAAAAGIIIC.]

It seems they can. I suppose wherever or whatever this light down here is, it's enough to grow plants.

There are trees around right? There's also the park. A couple of gardens shouldn't be too hard.
malik_caesar: No! (Rejected)

Vampires? You mean to say that there are actual vampires here in Vatheon?

[Malik had seen people dressed up as them, most notably Zelos, but he hadn't thought they really existed.]

Huh. If you say so, I'll take your word for it.

[Ky has made a good impression on Malik, there's no reason he wouldn't believe him. Besides, Malik's getting used to all sorts of 'monsters' turning up that aren't trying to kill everyone.]

So what do you think? Are you going to be taking up gardening?
malik_caesar: I knew it. (Troll)

Either one will work. Most of my friends grow their plants from seeds although I'm not entirely sure why. They're certainly easier to store and transport. It might be more rewarding to see them grow up as well.

I could probably get you some if you'd like. Or, if you prefer, I'm sure there would be all kinds or varieties available in the Nostalgia Nook.

There are a huge variety! Flowers, decorative plants, leafy ferns.

I'll talk with Sophie and see what she suggests for you.

You're welcome! Knights should stick together right?

Feel free to stop by and see me at Golden Victory for a drink sometime.

There's quite a good selection of tea as well.

[Malik smirks, glad of the accepted invitation. Besides, nothing like a little irish creme to enhance a tea or coffee.]
