Good, you shouldn't. There is no one who can decide what we are but ourselves regardless of what others may think.
And you are correct - murder often does not do anything good. That is not to say death itself does not have its place. As a punishment, when it fits the crime, and when dealt out swiftly and respectfully by the cold hand of justice, death is very effective. But not as something decided upon by those with judgements too clouded by emotion or plain stupidity.
