I heard about people going to sleep for weeks on end, but I never thought I'd get hit with that so soon after coming here.

Also, I wanted to talk to whoever's in charge of the Defense Force around here. I was given a name, but when I looked it up, it wasn't there. If anyone could give me some pointers, I'd appreciate it.

No problem. I was part of an elite fighting unit called SOLDIER from the time I was almost fifteen. Most of my duties were clearing out monsters, protecting civilians and personnel, and sometimes doing reconnaissance.

I'm talking to someone else already, but I do have a question. What exactly are the responsibilities of the Force? Obviously the defense of the city, but anything else?

The Defense force is largely a policing body. To some extent, it has dealt in the system of justice for foreigners, though there are no laws in place. There is also a segment of the force that focuses on developing technology, and that repair damaged SFCs.

Yes. The locals do not seem to have any, though they have not descended into chaos, and the foreigners have not come up with any.
