[ The news feed comes on, and poor Cheria doesn't look so good.

Like, seriously. She's looking like she'll fall over at any moment. Obviously someone made herself sick.

But she still seems to be trying to go on with things, because that is how Cheria rolls. ]

Asbel, Sophie, Pascal, Captain Malik ... [ She almost says 'Hubert,' but nope, Hubert hasn't lived with them for a while. She remembers that and stops before she can say his name. ]

I thought it would be easier to contact all of you here, rather than individually. Dinner's going to be a little late today ... I ended up oversleeping a little.

[ And from the looks of her, she should still be in bed. ]

Just thought I would let you all know ...

[ And with that, the feed turns off. She's off to go start dinner. Someone, please make her go back to bed? Even if you're not immediate family, she really shouldn't be up and doing anything in her state. ]

[ It wasn't a complete lie! She's definitely been through worse. ]

If anything, I guess I could be teaching them to keep going even when it's difficult?

[ Well, she's admitting that it's difficult for her right now, at least. You know Cheria, she's stubborn. But brb, room spinning picked up again. ]

[Malik clears his throat. It's a good answer, but she's still being evasive.]

It's a good thing I'm not busy at the moment. I'm headed home as we speak.

Dinner will still be a little late.

[ she's gonna keep working on it as you make your way home, Cap'n ~ ]

[He was pretty close. In a matter of about five minutes he's in the door and striding into the kitchen.]

Miss Barnes. [Uh oh. Formal last names.]

[ by the way, we should mention that while she's got something on the stove, she actually hasn't turned the stove ON. she only managed to successfully preheat the oven.

she stops and looks back at Captain Malik as he enters.

.... still. busted. Cheria doesn't respond. ]

[He walks over without saying anything more. His attention shifts between her, the stove, and then back to her.]

This isn't a case of over-sleeping.

[He helpfully turns on the stove and then gives her one of those not-her-father-but-kind-of-is looks.

Busted is the word.]

The reason I'm late in starting dinner is oversleeping.

[ The reason she's still not succeeding in making it is obviously not. ]

Fine. But it isn't what is wrong.

It's not like you to forget to turn the oven on. Are you taking care of yourself?

[ Not as well as she should be ~ ]

I'm fine.

[He folds his arms and stands there. There are only two ways to get him to move. One is if Cheria decides to tell him whats going on. The other is if she continues to be stubborn. He'll put her in bed if he has to.]

[ Sophie did the same thing in one of the other threads in this post! Apparently it runs in their little not-family. Cheria is stubborn, though, and goes to wash her hands so she can continue dinner.

She miiight be keeping a hand on the countertop so that she doesn't fall over though ... ]

[At some point it becomes difficult to say who is picking up behaviors from whom.

Malik sees his opportunity and moves in. He slips her hand off the counter and puts her off balance. He then scoops her off her feet and begins carrying her to her bed.]

Always the hard way.

[ rgjnrkgnrkngknr CAPTAIN MALIK WHY-- well, we know why. She's pouting, but she doesn't have the energy to really appropriately fight back. ]

Captain! Let me go!

[ It's amazing she had the energy to protest. ]

Only if you tell me what's going on.

[Any weak attempts on her part to struggle are met with firm and unyielding muscles.]

Have you been to the coral recently?

[ And that's when she realizes.

... She probably hadn't. Cheria sighs, her head slumping a little against his shoulder. ]

It ... going there might have slipped my mind.

[Malik doesn't sound too upset about it. He responds matter-of-factly.]

That's easy enough to fix.

[He starts carrying her out of the house. His destination - the coral.]

[ ergjnrkgnr WAIT wasn't she supposed to be in bed?

... oh.

Coral.

Right.
