[ When the SFC cuts in, it's focused out on the waves along the shore of the island for a moment and shows just how rough and gross the weather's gotten since the beginning of the week. Then, Riku angles it so it's on his face—which is a little pink from the wind. His hair's kind of damp from the snow, so it's difficult to say just how long he's been standing out there, looking at the water. ]

I need to know about the curses. How many there are and what they do... [ He pauses to push bangs out of his eyes. ] It's always random, right? Is there even a reason for them?

[ Riku jerks the SFC away from him so that it's pointed haphazardly at the beach again. ]

...I don't think this is a game. Being controlled or humiliated isn't fun. Even if some of them are harmless— I want to know if anyone is gonna do something about it.

[ His voice is a little hard at the end, almost bitter. If anyone happens to be crazy enough to venture up top, feel free to run into him and yell at him for wearing nothing but a thin jacket. There's only a sigh as the video ends. ]

Sorry. [ He only gives him a shake of his head, looking at him this time. Riku's thinking about throwing the towel at Sora to break this weird silence between them. ] You been feeling okay?

[runbysmiles]

[ Sora's caught off guard by the question. A blush rises to his cheeks and he looks away quickly. ]

W-why would you ask me that?

[ Okay so he had been acting a little strange aka distant from Riku lately, but what was he supposed to do when he kept hearing Roxas's voice in his head asking if he liked him or not? ]

[overashadow]

You haven't exactly been yourself, you know. [ Riku drapes the towel around his shoulders and steps in close, a hand on his hip. Don't mind him. He's just going to lightly poke at Sora's cheek. At the blush. ]

What's that about?

[runbysmiles]

[ Sora reached up to place his hand behind his head in an awkward gesture. He opened his mouth to explain himself, but then Riku was poking his cheek, making the blush worse.

[ Was that it? Was that the feeling Roxas had been talking about? That train of thought didn't help in the least. ]

What's what?

[ Yeah there was no hiding that. ]

[ He gives it one more poke before actually laughing. Then, he reaches forward to ruffle his hair lightly. ]

But you're not avoiding me, right? It kind of seemed like you were.

[runbysmiles]

[ Sora cried out in protest as his hair was ruffled. Not as if it would have made a big difference to the spikes, they never moved. ]

I...

[ Sora paused then, the jovial look that had been on his face at the teasing temporarily replaced. ]

I've just been thinking a lot lately.

[overashadow]

[ Oh no. This is pretty serious. Riku remembers the times Sora's said that before, and he's not sure this is going to end well. But he's his best friend. So, he's going to humor him. ]

Yeah? About what?

[runbysmiles]

About...

[ Oh dear god how could he possibly explain this to Riku? Of all people how could he tell his best friend? ]

It's nothing...

[ Well wasn't that the biggest lie in the bubble? ]

Sora. [ This is serious, okay. He leans in. ] What's going on?

[runbysmiles]

I...

[ Okay the close proximity was not helping here. ]

I...I saw A-- [ Right he wasn't supposed to say anything! ] Do you...do you ever feel different about me?

[overashadow]

Well, sometimes I want to shake you really hard... [ There's a tease in there somewhere, of course, but he's giving Sora a mostly blank look. ] But that's not what you mean. Is it?

[runbysmiles]

[ Sora frowns a little. ]

That's not what I meant!

[ He rubs his arm feeling a little awkward now. ]

I mean...do you ever thing we could be something more than friends?

[ Oh dear lord he'd said it, and what if Riku said yes? What was he supposed to do? ]

[overashadow]

Sure, we— [ And then his brain kind of catches up to what it is Sora's actually said. That's not what he'd been expecting. Honestly, he hadn't thought about it enough to really figure it out.

Now, he's just kind of standing there. Arms at his sides, eyes a little wide. ]

...what?

[runbysmiles]

[ Sora's blush worsened and he covered his face. ]

Augh! Why'd you make me say it!

[ Clearly this was Riku's fault. ]

[overashadow]

[ Nope. He's not getting off that easy. Riku grabs his arm. ]

What do you mean by that, Sora?

[runbysmiles]

Ah!

[ Sora fell towards Riku a little, and stumbled. He looked up at him still with a blush on his face. ]

I mean...It happens to best friends all the time right? They start off as friends and then they just find out they like each other...right?

[overashadow]

[ Did it happen all the time? Sora and Kairi were his best friends, and he cared about both of them. He'd willingly risk his life for them without even thinking about it. Riku's not sure if that's what he's supposed to tell him though.

He had no idea what to say. Maybe he could shrug it off with a joke... But the look on Sora's face indicates that might not be a good idea. ]

Are you trying to... [ And then it all comes out in a rush: ] Do you like me?

[runbysmiles]

Of course I like you, Riku!

[ And then Sora realized what Riku was saying and he just looked sheepish. ]

I mean...as a friend, I know I like you, but...I...

[ Oh god how was he supposed to say this? ]S

I don't know if I do like you like that, but maybe I should?

[overashadow]

Or maybe you shouldn't. [ It leaves his mouth a little too quickly to mean anything else. Not because they're both boys, no; Riku knows Sora wouldn't judge a person like that. But because he still couldn't find it in himself to forget about what had happened.. He clenches a fist around the towel and takes a step back.]

How could you— [ A frustrated sound. ] I'm not the best person to have those feelings for, Sora.

...and what about Kairi?

[runbysmiles]

[ Sora frowned at the outburst. He frowned even more when Riku kept talking. ]

Riku why would you say that?!

[ He knew Riku was talking about something beyond the surface of his words. He could always tell. ]

You're a good person Riku, why shouldn't I have feelings for you?

[ He looked down at the floor then. He wasn't really admitting he had feelings for Riku, at least in that regard, but the possibility wasn't far off. ]

I...I like Kairi too. [ Sora reached up and rubbed the back of his head. ]

I never really thought about it either though, nothing serious anyway.

[overashadow]

[ He sighs quietly. This would be the perfect time to retreat, but he can't quite bring himself to do something like that. ]

It should probably stay that way until you know for sure. Did someone say something to you about this sort of thing?

[runbysmiles]

[ Sora's cheeks colored a bit, but he didn't pursue the conversation either. He wasn't going to completely let Riku off the hook though. ]

I saw something yeah.

[ And talked with someone, but that went unsaid. ]

[overashadow]

What do you mean you saw something? That's not what I asked.

[ What are you hiding, bestie??? ]

[runbysmiles]

[ Oh crap. Sora makes a face and looks away quickly. How was he supposed to explain this without giving Axel and Roxas away? ]

I saw someone kissing someone else at the Host Club...I knew they were friends and I asked why they were kissing...

[ Maybe that'd be enough to get Riku off the scent? Doubtful. ]

Let me guess. They told you it was okay to like your best friend even if you're both boys. [ He crosses his arms, clearly not impressed. Riku doesn't even care about that. ] Who was it, Sora?

[ He's definitely using his grown-up voice now. ]

[runbysmiles]

[ Sora frowned. ]

No! That's not what they said! I already knew it didn't matter if we were both boys, why would it?

[ Though admittedly the idea hadn't been in his head until King Mickey mentioned that Lea and Demyx were going to get married. ]

I can't tell you. I promised I wouldn't.

[overashadow]

[ Wow. This is so frustrating. ]

[ Sora made a face at Riku. Did he really have to press this? Still Sora answered him. ]

I asked him how he knew that he liked the other person that way. He told me that he knew they were friends and that he felt different around the other person, and then asked if I felt that way about you...

[ It was the condensed version, but it wasn't as if Sora could remember exactly what the word for word was. ]
