Just curious, but how many of you here have jobs? A lot of stuff is free, so nobody really has to do anything, but it seems like it'd get boring if there wasn't work to do every day.

I'm probably going to regret asking, but what are you doing that involves manipulating physics?

I don't believe you humans have the technology... It's a storage system called a "sylladex".

It definitely doesn't sound familiar. What does a sylladex do?

As I said, it's a storage device, compromised of a fetch modus, captchalogue cards, and a strife specibus. The captchalogue cards are what items are stored in. The fetch modus is how you retrieve those items from their cards. The strife specibus is what stores your weaponry.

It's portable, and can be summoned and dismissed at any time one chooses.

So what you're saying is that there's these cards, and you put items in them? And then you can take them out later?

[That does sound awfully useful actually.]

Can you put anything in these cards?

That's the whole point. I can offer a demonstration, if you like.

I always have my sylladex on hand.

[And- whup! That sure is a card seemingly popping out of nowhere- a row of cards, actually, but the others are off screen. Also distinctly not pink.]

And you just put things in them? Can you show me?

It's simple enough.

[Let's see, what to put in... He takes a screwdriver that happens to be lying around and holds it up. With a pop, it disappears from his hand! And that sure is a picture of a screwdriver now on the card...]

With a sylladex, one simply wills the item into it, and the captchalogue card picks up on the brain activity. [Or something like that presumably, hi vague canon] My fetch modus is based on math, so to retrieve the item, I have to solve an equation.

[A nod to it, and the card is now covered in... okay, there are letters here and there, but it is definitely not English. Curse you, math. Darkleer seems to have no difficulty with it at all, and out pops the screwdriver again! The card disappears to where it came from.]

There are a variety of different fetch modi, really. Some require hacking, others require a specific tune, and others are simply very basic puzzles.

[Okay yeah, that is insanely useful and Shiro can think of so many uses for it. He wishes he had one back home, it would have made carrying his doctor supplies that much easier.]

I have no idea how that could possibly work, but I can see why you would want to build them.

It's complicated work, but I like it. I've been trying to do some experimentation, really...

I have in the past, yes. I suppose you are interested in possessing your own?

Once I start earning the money necessary to buy one from you, yes.
