[A splinter and a crack, a bit of a splash. Yes, this particular feed isn't the cleanest to come about, and the recipient that appears none too long after doesn't look as hot, either. He's definately just woken up from... something, that's for sure, and isn't the slighest bit pleased about it.]

[Another rustling noise, and the General realizes what he's holding... or he would have, under normal circumstances. Whatever it was, it was the most ridiculous-looking device he'd ever see--

A moment of confusion, then his brow comes down. With no knowledge as to where he was, or how he'd gotten here, for it to be broadcast to an unknown public was simply, downright demeaning. Whatever was in charge, he would be sure to have a few choice words with them.]

[The Lombax sighs, pinching the brim of his nose. An interesting situation, indeed.]

I'm dead, but I'm still... sentient? Although I'm getting the feeling my world is a lot different from others in that way.

That sounds like more of a curse than a blessing. If you've died, wouldn't you simply want it to be done with?

And miss out on the chance to watch over my friend? Nah. And I was reunited with someone I hadn't seen in a long time not long after I died.

[He blinks, stunned for just a moment. Then the General's gaze lowers quietly, lost in thought.]

[This puts him in a weird position. He does consider Alister his friend, although that's due to events and conversations the Lombax can no longer remember. But he hadn't meant him when he said "friend".]

Well, I'd like to be your friend in time. But I was referring to someone back home, a friend who survived after I died.

Well, that's relieving. I was beginning to wonder about your stable frame of mind.

Cloud's - well, he's pretty quiet. Serious. Always thinking. Sometimes too much and it's done more harm than good sometimes. But he's super loyal and he's a fighter. [With some push.]

He must mean the universe to you, if you're willing to protect him even after death.

He's my best friend. And my legacy. Gotta keep an eye on him!

[Which is leading him to believe something had happened to the boy's home, his kind. If this 'Cloud' was all he had left...]

It's difficult, to be the last of your kind.

I'm not the last human or anything, although I guess I was the last of SOLDIER 1st Class, in a sense. [Granted, Sephiroth had survived but he defected and didn't count anymore on account of his batshit insanity.]

SOLDIER First Class? ...and the other man? I'm afraid I'm slightly lost about what you mean by 'your living legacy'.

An elite group of soldiers working under Shinra. He was just a regular foot soldier. He... will live out both our lives, and be what he can be and what I could never be. And even more.

[There's a long moment of silence from the old General, before he starts to look... mildly hurt. The Lombax averts his gaze, sighing softly.]

It's a lot of pressure to put on someone, you know.

I don't mean he has to go above and beyond. I just want him to live the life he deserves, and what I couldn't. Besides, Cloud's handled tougher.

[He's got a lot of confidence in his friend.]

It won't be easy, if you two were truly that close. Trust me, I... know from experience.

[He nods, remembering that Alister had also died in his world. From the sound of it, he still had the same memories.]

He'll be okay. They'll both be okay.
