23 ♐ Video ♐ Casually ignore wound

[See Darkleer. See Darkleer without his glasses for once and his hair pulled back into a thick braid! See Darkleer also kind of bleeding somewhat from the arm.]

[Yeah that might be a problem. It seems he's on the beach and dress appropriately for the location, if not the weather. Tight swimming trunks cling to his legs, and what appears to be the bite mark of a shark is on one muscular arm. He doesn't seem much bothered by it- in fact, there's just the occasional wince as he pulls a tooth out. Just one more scar to add to what seems like a collection of them. Also noticeable would be a pendant that seems to be hanging around his throat... Hm.]

I've been meaning to ask this, but my schedule has been rather full up until now.

[Translation: I've been focusing on all my robots like a workaholic freak and trying to hide from weird romance problems.]

However, right now I have a bit of time while I'm working on something on the island. [In the water, more correctly, but details.] Would anyone be interested in learning basic medical skills? For example, how to assist someone who has drowned or how to stop a wound from bleeding.

It's better off to leave complete treatment to a more professional individual, such as our... esteemed head nurse, but skills such as these can help keep a situation from getting worse.

[There's a pause as he inspects his arm, now devoid of any shark teeth. Something seems to just *pop* out from his sylladex and he puts the modified omni-tool onto his good wrist. Don't mind him as he holds it over the bleeding wound and... wow that sure is some automatic healing going on. Technology is great, he loves technology.]

I will be on the island all day so feel free to simply locate me if you are interested. Speaking of the island... [A slight frown.] The pollen up here seems less severe than that down in the city.

You're not the only one. Far from it. You simply have to remember that this place can be dangerous sometimes.

I know, but I'm learning all kinds of ways to protect everyone so no one will get hurt ever! Maybe you're right and it's a good idea to learn healing too. I just don't do magic so good unless it's by playing music and I don't know how to do science.

[This is pretty much 100% outside of his scope of experience.]

Science would matter if you were learning the details of basic medical care, Sola. For this sort of thing, you only need to know about cause and effect. As I said, it's just skills to help keep a situation from getting worse.

Okay, that sounds easier. Should I go see you now to learn stuff or later?

I said anyone interested could come now. I'm not doing anything as of the moment.

[Off goes the feed abruptly. 20 minutes or so later, Sola's on his way down the beach, well away from the stronger than normal waves.]

Wow, it is easier to breathe up here.

[Darkleer is just waiting there with his robodog. You know. As one does.]

I know. It makes me a little worried to be honest... Anyway. Would you like to begin with reviving someone who has been in the water for too long?

[Robodog! So cool!]

It's probably just another weird curse or something.

[He plops down by Darkleer and looks up at him expectantly.]

They should've just brought a Zora tunic, but okay. How do you do that?

That I don't doubt.

[He always suspects 'or something'. As Sola sits down, Darkleer brings out a robot from his sylladex. It seems more anatomically detailed than most of his other ones. They're all the proper shape, but this one is distinct. Like if a human was stripped of its skin, almost. Darkleer directs it to lay down between them.]

First of all, when you get them out of the water, make sure they are on their back. It's best if you move over by their shoulders and head, alright?

[Oh... that's... actually kind of creepy looking... Sola doesn't say that, however (though his face might give it away) and moves obediently to the head of the automaton.]

[Whoops, your uncle is actually kind of creepy sometimes, sorry.]

Good, now put your hand in the center of its chest- right here. [He reaches down to tap the proper positioning.] Make sure the heel of your hand is what's pressing down. Then place your hand on top of it. Your arms should be straight, and your elbows aligned with your hands.

Understand?

Yeah, I think I get it.

[He places his hands on the robot's chest, left down with the heel where Darkleer tapped and the right on top at an angle. He holds his arms straight but is still sitting so they're more parallel to the ground than able to put his weight into pushing. Which is to be expected since he has no idea that's what he'll be doing.]

[He stays silent for a moment before moving in to adjust Sola's position.]

Like this. What you're going to do is press down- in a real situation, there will be water in the lungs, and you'll be trying to pump it out until the person can cough it out themselves. It's also to help them breathe.

To do that, you're going to need to put all of your body into it, not just your arms.

Oh! That makes sense.

[He doesn't have trouble with water like that; living in the water temple tends to make one a strong swimmer, not to mention his shadow powers giving him the ability to slip through the water.. well, like a shadow, but he knows not everyone is as lucky as he is.

He adjusts his position as Darkleer directs, arms almost perpendicular to the dummy once he's moved.]

How's this?

Much better. Now press down just a couple of inches- that's how hard you'll want to push down. Any harder and you risk breaking something inside of them. Get a proper feel for it, and then relax, then press down again.

Don't rush for now, just make sure you get used to it.

[With his tongue stuck out in concentration, Sola does as directed, pressing down slowly a few inches, letting go, then pressing again. He wants to do it right the first time!]

[He watches as Sola goes at it, occasionally checking with his omni-tool to see the robot's condition and if Sola is pressing down correctly. Once he's certain that Sola has it down, he interrupts.]

That's very good, Sola. Now, you know how to count to one hundred?

Of course I know that. I'm not stupid.

[He should know that... he gets a little messed up around the teens but the rest he can do just fine! Usually! It's really easy to lose count when you're counting for that long...

But it's fine, he's sure he can do it. Of course he can!]

I know you're a very clever young man, Sola. I'm just making sure of every detail in case I miss something.

Now, you need to press down around one hundred times in the space of a minute, or at least close to it. Once you can do that, we'll move onto the next step, alright?

A hundred times in only a minute?!

[That's impossible! A hundred is too much! Darkleer must be trying to make a joke.]

Stop messing with me!

[Okay, that earns a light chuckle.]

Alright, how about you just go as fast as you can, and I'll time you? We'll see how much you can do in a minute.

[Sola makes a face at Darkleer, but replaces his hands as shown on the dummy. He proceeds to press down very quickly and sloppily, trying to count out loud as he goes but the presses definitely don't go with the numbers and he gets mixed up in the teens. Seriously, why can't it be oneteen, twoteen, threeteen...]

[To try and make the awkward less noticeable, he waits a moment before interrupting.]

Do you need assistance, Sola?

No, I can-!

[...okay no he can't. With a heavy sigh Sola sits back on his knees and looks somewhat forlorn.]

...I kinda lied. I can't count that good.

[Darkleer kneels down besides Sola and pats his shoulder.]

It's alright. Everyone starts somewhere, Sola. Even I did, although it was a very long time ago.
