[ The SFC is on Yuri's bedside table, and the room is pretty dark, so there isn't much to see. One may be able to see the figure of one (1) Yuri Egin tossing and turning in her bed, though ... eventually, the tossing and turning is accompanied by whimpers and small, pained sounds. The SFC picture is a little lopsided, almost as though during her sleep at one point, she accidentally hit it and turned it on.

From what can be seen, it's fairly obvious that she's having a nightmare of some sort. The tossing and turning doesn't stop for several more minutes, but then, finally, she wakes up with a short shriek.

She sits up, breathing heavily for several moments, looking around to make sure that she's not still having her nightmare ... and then, she pulls her legs to her chest and curls up into a bit of a ball, resting her head on her knees. It's not the first time she's had this nightmare, but it's no less painful every time.

And as she doesn't realize her SFC is on, it just continues to record her as she recovers from yet another one of these damn nightmares ... ]

[He's silent for a couple minutes, knowing all too well what she's feeling right now. He's experienced this in Vatheon and at home, even her expressions give him those thoughts of the times when he was sad. But being the strong man he is, he answers after those minutes of silence.]

Seeing such a beautiful lady sad is something I can't ignore.

[ The sudden voice caused Yuri to jolt up and out of her little ball. She looked around for the source of it, her eyes finally landing on the SFC, which was lit ... much to her dismay. She hadn't wanted anybody to see this. She leaned over and collected it into her hands, wiping the tears on her cheeks away before she responded. ]

It's fine. I'll be all right in a little while.

[Rin's sleeping habits, unless something major is going on, are about the same as they've always been. He likes his sleep, and cuddling with Maka at night makes him all the more prone to sleeping upwards of eleven hours if he can. But one thing has changed. Once a very heavy sleeper that used to take physical means to wake out of a deep sleep, he's far more likely to be roused by something even quiet.

Like a post on the network.

At first he thinks it might just be something to dismiss, tired enough to not recognize Yuri right off the bat, but the noise she makes when she wakes up is enough to jar him out of grogginess.

He's quiet for a minute, staring, quietly surprised that she would have such a horrible nightmare. He knows she died but... beyond that he really knows nothing else about her life. Yukio had kept quiet about it for so long...

And now the one that was there, wasn't the one who knew. Pretty unhelpful there.

Eventually, though, Rin slips out of bed and leaves his sleeping girlfriend behind, taking care not to disturb her or the curled up cream colored feline at the foot of their bed. He doesn't bother dressing, just keeping his night clothes on and throwing his old worn blue hoodie over it.

It's not a long walk to the apartment, nor is it unfamiliar one, but it's the first time Rin has visited since Yuri was in a coma. It makes him hesitate a little with his hand over the door, but soon enough he knocks.]

[Her reactions are very familiar too, much like his own reawakening from the sleep coma and the times he's tried to shrug things off. He gives her a half smile to try be comforting.]

If you insist so, I'm not one to argue. Would you like to meet somewhere to talk? I don't mind treating you.

This late at night? No, I couldn't ask that. I'll be all right, okay? I promise.

[ No need to bother him more than she already has. Yuri manages a smile. ]

[ Of all the things she was expecting, a visitor this late at night was not one of them. Still, she quickly managed to wipe her face of tears, throw back her bedsheets, put on a robe and move to answer the door.

Yuri opened it a crack and peeked out. ]

... Rin?

[ She then opened the door the rest of the way and stepped back a little to let him come in. ]

What are you doing here? Is something wrong?

[ She hadn't quite realized that her SFC was on before ... ]

You uhm... looked like you might need some company...

[He's still awkward around her. It's not nearly as bad as it was before, but there's still that need to differentiate between the fact that she's still practically a stranger to him, but she's also his mother.

And she's so damn young, too... it's hard to not think of her as just another one of his friends.

But he's trying, damn it. And that has to count for something.]

I mean-- ... your SFC turned on. Sorry...

[ Her SFC-- Shit. Yuri's eyes widened, but then she slumped a little, looking away from him. ]

... I'm sorry you saw that.

[ She steps aside, allowing him the room to come inside if he wanted to. ]

Come on in. Do you want a drink?

N-no, it's okay, I just--

[Fuck this really is awkward. 'Hi Mom I saw you were suffering horribly and just came over on a whim to stand here like a dumb fuck with nothing to say'. That's basically what he's doing and he's kind of hating himself for it.

But his feet move before he has a chance to turn tail and bolt (which is probably for the best anyway) and he enters the apartment, closing the door behind himself.]

... are you okay?

I'm not at home, but rather the casino. Though I was on my way to the pub, if you don't mind joining me.

[He doesn't mind her joining him, he could use the company.]

[ She's off in the kitchen at this point, getting her son a glass of water. She laughs a little, but it's an exaggerated kind of laugh. She is definitely not okay. ]

Sure, sure! This happens all the time, that's all. It just doesn't get any nicer no matter how long it's been ...

[ She returns and sets down two glasses of water on the coffee table in front of the couch, taking a seat there and patting the space beside her to encourage Rin to join her. ]

[ Well ... maybe a little bit of fresh air would do her some good. Company, too. ]

Where is it, again?

[Rin watches her carefully. Ernst had said he looked more like Yuri than Yukio did, but in a moment like this she's acting more like Yukio.

"I'm fine, nii-san. It's just a few scratches. I have to be more careful!"

"It's nothing, I promise."

"I fell, it happens, nii-san. Besides, you're the one I'm always patching up."

"I'm fine, I'm fine, you're the one I have to look after," like he was some damn child that couldn't stop from running out in to the road.

All those times he brushed Rin off, because he was really hiding that he had been training as an exorcist since he was seven. Hiding that he had really known what Rin was all that time, hiding it because he wanted to protect him the way Rin had protected his little brother from bullies for so long.

It pissed him off, but there was no reason to get mad at Yuri for that.

Rin shook his head slightly to clear his thoughts and approached the couch, but he hesitated there, fidgeting with his hands inside the pocket of his hoodie.]

... what... were you dreamin' about?

[ The question caught her off-guard. She wasn't expecting Rin to actually ask about it. Her shoulders slumped a little bit, and she sighed, staring into her glass of water for several moments before answering. ]

Do you ... really want to know?

[ As much as she wanted to spare her son the details of that night ... if he wanted to know, he deserved to know. ]

[He finally moves to the couch, sitting down while giving her a serious look. Awkward as things have been so far, he knows eventually he'll have to move past it.

She could be gone one day, just like Kuro, like Kohaku's friends, Alister, Ratchet, countless others. He has one chance to get to know the woman who was responsible for bringing him in to the world, and even if he won't remember when he goes home, he knows some part of him would just know and hate himself more for missing that chance.]

I barely know you... I don't know anything about you, except... that little bit Yukio told me, right after--

... even if it sucks I still wanna know.

[ She moves a little, so that she's sitting facing her son on the couch. Yuri puts her glass of water down, then folds her hands in front of her as she thinks of how to start it. ]

I've ... been having these nightmares since waking up in this place. It's always about the same event in my life, just before you and Yukio were born.

[ And from the look on her face, it's a very painful thing to remember. ]

You know of your grandfather, right ...? My father?

[ If you don't, just remember that every time he talks, you hear "I'm a douchebag, I'm a douchebag, I'm a lying douchebag!" That ought to ring some bells. ]

[He sends her the directions from his SFC and smiles.]

I sent the directions to your SFC, I shall see you there?

[Yup. This is really gonna suck. But Rin said he wanted to hear it and he's not backing out now.]

... I knew him. Unfortunately. Probably the worst twelve hours of my life, actually.

[And he had to watch Shiro get possessed and die, so that says a lot.]

Give me a bit to make myself decent and I'll meet you there. Thank you.

[ She offers him a smile of her own, then shuts off the feed, getting dressed and making herself look presentable before heading out to where the directions led her. ]

[ Yeah, she's not exactly happy about what she saw her father to do her boys, either. She had been watching from Gehenna, after all ... ]

Mn ... well. You know the kind of man he is, then. To make a long story short ... when he found out that I was carrying you and your brother, and that I had every intent of having and raising you, he obviously didn't take kindly to the idea. He had me put to trial by the Vatican, and they sentenced me to death. Burnt at the stake, like a witch.

[ She laughs a little, bitterly. ]

Obviously, the message I wanted to get across to them fell on deaf ears ... I tried, so hard, to tell them my side of things, but ...

[ She sighs, then continues. ]

Your father-- Ah, Satan ... he became so desperate to save me and you boys, he searched around for a vessel that could handle his presence long enough to free me. In the end, he killed a lot of people, trying to save me ... finally, he took over my father, and forced him to release me, telling me to run while I still had the chance.

There was blue fire ... dead bodies ... so much of it, everywhere ...

[ That's the part she has nightmares about. ]

My biggest fear during that time was that I would lose you and your brother ... that I wouldn't be able to bring you boys into the world. After that, I ran. I found a safe place ... and you and your brother were born.

[ And after that ... she died. Shortly after Shiro had found her and her newborn baby boys.

Yuri didn't realize she was crying again, as she told this to Rin. ]

[That... was not what he was expecting to hear. That was not what he wanted to hear. He knew she had died, he knew her death had something to do with Satan, and for a long time he had assumed the Lord of Gehenna was responsible for all of it, but Yukio in his oh so vague way had told Rin that wasn't the entire story.

When Yukio was planning on telling him the entire story remained to be seen, but for now...

Well. He knew. He knew and he hated Ernst all the more for it. He knew there was something very wrong with that man from the start but this more than confirmed it. He still despised Satan for what he did to Shiro, and for how he manipulated Yukio and tried to rain his hellfire down on Assiah. But he also wouldn't be alive if it weren't for what he did to save Yuri-- to save his mother.

Painful as it could be at times, Rin liked being alive. He had them both to thank for that. And Ernst to thank for making that day absolute, utter, literal Hell.

Shaking hands clenched in to shaking fists on his lap, eyes burning with furious anger. It was all he could do to keep himself from letting his flames out right there.]

That bastard... ! To his own daughter--! And after all that he still has the balls to manipulate Yukio an' me!

[ There wasn't much else Yuri could do about that, sadly. Her father was who he was. She straightened up a little, sniffled, and laughed. ]

W-Well, that's my Dad for you ...

[ Despite the laughter, tears still rolled down her cheeks. Even now, even after being dead for upwards of fifteen years, the memories of the entire experience freaked her out this much ... no matter how much she tried to let it roll off her shoulders, it still plagued her. ]

Tch--...! You shouldn't even call him that! No one who hurts their own children just for makin' their own decisions is a parent!

[Even in the late hour, Rin's voice rose, too angered to keep it down to a reasonable level. He knew she was crying, but just as with the volume of his voice he was simply too wrapped up in his emotions to do anything more than yell.

Ernst wasn't there to punch in the face repeatedly until he stopped moving, which was what Rin wanted to do, even if the man had been rightfully dragged to Gehenna kicking and screaming. It was an event he missed, and whether or not Ernst got what he deserved Rin couldn't help but feel that he deserved so, so much more.]

He can just... just rot in Gehenna! Forever! We're your family now and even if we all go back home we'll still be more of a family than he ever was to you!

[Angelo is sitting at one of the tables near the front of said bar as he waits for Yuri. When she arrives and finds him, he'll be sporting a plain black casual business-like suit jacket (with matching pants and tie) and a crimson red under dress shirt. His hair is also down instead of being in its usual hair tie, while his usual gold loop earrings are replaced with ruby silver studs. There's also a hint of cologne coming off him that smells like mix of roses, vanilla, and jasmines. He'll taking a sip of the red wine from the glass he ordered too before setting it down on the table.]

[ Yuri looked upon her son fondly. Even though she knew she should have been trying to calm him down, she couldn't help but be touched by his words ... her father was certainly not the ideal father figure, but that was all the family she had known for a long time. When she started forming her own opinions on the way things were done ...

Well ...

There went her father.

Yuri's voice is quiet as she speaks again. ]

It makes me very happy to be a part of your family, Rin.

[ Because blood relations don't always mean you're accepted as family ... she had just proven that with the story of what her father had done to her. And since arriving here, she had felt almost as though her own sons couldn't accept her as part of their world. Shiro had been trying to make things a little easier, certainly, but ... It was a comfort to hear the words from Rin himself. She gently placed a hand on her son's arm, hoping that it would help him calm down a little ~~and not ruin the couch with his flames~~. ]

I am very happy to have this chance to get to know you and your brother. I thought, when I died, that I would never have that chance ...
