... It is very nice to have something from home...

[ There is a odd purple crystal creature floating around behind him. Its poking books and the plants in a window box, floating about. ]

... But must it come with a change of clothing.

[ Duke's not particularly happy with his armor, for all its fairly light. He tugs at his hair, which is braided with a plain leather tie. It seems like there's something weaved in with his hair, but...

He gives a grumpy sigh. ]

It is bothering to find the coral fully capable of altering abilities. [ And preventing him from changing his clothes is frustrating. ]

[Well, there's not much that can be done about it now. Ioder simply sighs and leans back with a quiet mutter of "I suppose".

There are more quests to be done, and he really wants to get back to it, but for the moment he's sort of stuck where he's at.]

[ Ioder could always ask the spirit if it wants to go with.

But for now he's trying to figure out if the spirit needs to eat something, and what a crystal spirit would eat. And if they have anything like that.

Also finding a snack but shush- ]

Ahh... I was... going to go back out again.

[He figures Duke at least deserves to know, not just for the sake of getting his spirit to stop playing with Ioder's hair.]

To do more quests, I mean.

[ Only Lumen thinks that this is a grand idea, by the way it leaves off bothering Ioder's hair and starts clinking and bobbing about.

Duke gives Ioder a sort of look that says "Why did you have to say there was things to do in its hearing?" Seems like the spirit wants to go along. ]

... it won't kill you to go out and participate, Duke.

[Really. It won't. He'll just get KO'd.]

[ No, it just goes against all he's been trying to do. He'd be helpful to people and no, that doesn't really work- ]

... Lumen will likely not let me hear the end of it if do not.

[You're going to be doing a lot of things that go against what you normally would, Duke. That's the price you pay for living with the emperor.]

[ But he's been trying to avoid people, and helping people-

Wait, these are locals. A small loophole.

He looks a slight fraction less reluctant, but still not quite pleased with the idea... ]

[ Damn. ]

If it embarrasses you greatly can leave before or after.

[ His tone is so dry he has to be mocking. Right? Right....? ]

Duke, it's not embarrassing to be seen with you. Honestly it's more embarrassing to have to explain that the reason no one ever sees my housemate is because he's a stubborn recluse.

[What? Isn't this 'let's be brutally honest' time?

In other words, if Duke was mocking, Ioder didn't get it. Oops.]

And being a stubborn recluse worked just fine for him before Vatheon pulled him here.

But that also implies that people are looking for him and-

That might be the sound of his head on the fridge door. He's horrible uncomfortable again. ]

[Sigh.]

Is it really so hard to accept that people care about you... ?

[ This is your answer, Ioder.

[That's actually enough to get the young, normally very placid emperor irritated.]

If you don't want to go, just say so.

[ Lies. He wants to not be around. It would be a lot easier- ]

Inclined not to, simply because seems like a great deal of this will be...

[ Here, have him actually using his arms for a moment. Its a wordless handwave that means he isn't quite sure what to call it - but its probably close to meaningless or frivolous. A hybrid, perhaps. ]

... But also aware of what will come of doing nothing.

[ He doesn't want to go, but if he doesn't go, he'll do absolutely nothing and be depressing and probably forget to eat. ]

[Ioder stands silently, almost as if he's going to leave without replying to that, but he stops at the kitchen doorway and looks over his shoulder.]

I'm trying to help you, Duke, but at some point it does have to be your choice. I'm not going to force you in to doing anything.

[ Ioder probably knows, and expects the words "You shouldn't" from Duke at this point, so this is all the uncomfortable look, that hopefully says "You shouldn't" for him. ]

.... Aware.

[ Which is why he's going to get his snack and waver at the door with Lumen. He's basically forcing himself to be active as an attempt to help himself. ]

[And the look Ioder gives back is as close to "I don't give a fuck if you think I shouldn't" as he would ever dare to venture in to the land of swearing and vulgarity. Because really, he doesn't. He has every right to consider and treat Duke as a friend and want to help him, and that's what he plans on doing, even if it frustrates him to absolutely no end.

Seeing Duke and the spirit join him at the door does earn a bit of a wary smile. At least he's trying...]

[ He's trying, really. It just doesn't seem to be wonderfully effective. ]

[Not really, no.

To the quest board?]

[ And lots of other adventurers and... wow this is a lot of people going about and questing.

Lumen is far more excited than Duke is. And this shouldn't be surprising. ]

[At least some one is. Ioder is trying to, but his worry is outweighing most of the excitement.]

Hm... is there anything you'd like to do, Duke?
