I haven't really encountered any odd smells save for when he disappears and returns reeking like he just spent a few hours down in the gym.

I would assume so. I'm not entirely sure what he does when I'm out running my errands and taking Selim out. Sometimes I wish the two would just get along but c'est la vie.
