09: He wants to talk to people [video]

[At first, his voice sounds very tired, and he looks more drained than usual. Sleep has been playing hard to get for the last few days.]

It's almost April, isn't it? The kids would be starting school soon, back home.

[Even though he's saying that, whatever is weighing so heavily on his mind isn't directly related to school.

But a moment later, his tone lightens a bit, like he thought of something humorous.]

It's a little too quiet around here, with the kids on their camping trip. We should throw a party. Maybe a 'hooray we survived another curse' party.

[But yes, that would be nice. Dolorosa has dealt with death so she can at least understand his problems.]

[Well, when you put it that way, it's hard for him to refuse. But instead of some long, drawn-out story, he'll sum it up quickly. The Dolorosa already knows all the details anyway.]

The day I died is approaching.

[Maybe they can talk about positive things after the sad talk.

[She doesn't need to hear more than that. Her own death is still quite fresh in her mind, and she doesn't look forward to recalling it at any point, let alone the anniversary of it.

Which would, she supposes, be the date she arrived in Vatheon. Ah.]

[He nods. Technically it's only been a couple months for him since he died, but the actual date itself is coming up. He's hoping that next year it won't be so fresh in his mind, assuming he's around to see a 'next year'.]

I'm thinking of having friends over that day.

[Not to celebrate, hell no. It's to help him forget. He'd rather be surrounded by friends and having a good time than be by himself and get lost in his own miserable thoughts.]

[Her first instinct is to refuse. Crowds of strangers are discomforting and with such a sensitive topic..

Yet it's the topic itself, and the person asking, that prompts her to nod. She wouldn't for just anyone, but Shiro has become quite important to her.]

[Dawww. Shiro smiles warmly at that.]

Thanks. It's not going to be anything too big, there's just a few of us. Do you know how to play cards?
