Accidental Video

*There's a blur on the screen as it seems the SFC is moved from one pair of hands to another. When the image finally settles, it is tilted at an angle. Most of the image appears to be a boring bedside table with a jug of water on, and the frame of a boring bed, similar to what might be seen in a hospital. A smaller section of the screen shows half of someone's pale face, the eyes covered with bandages. The only thing that might identify this person are some flicks of brown hair, sitting above a shoulder in a hospital gown. The SFC is moved again, showing this unhappy figure in a bed, before the feed flickers out*

[Aya watches her silently, looking to the side solemnly.]

I never-- [No, it wouldn't help saying that...so he goes down the path of explaining his past, starting with his family, and how Reiji Takatori ruined everything. The tale continues for a while, or as best as he could explain without investing himself too much into the emotions of the time. Things did become better for him during his days with Krypton, and he acknowledges that he's come a long way, but he's always had this belief that he doesn't deserve happiness.]

[He's not even sure that after this that Selphie would ever understand, but it would be a step in some direction. At the end, Aya has his arms crossed, facing forward and really lost in those memories.]

It's not a matter of this being a bad idea. It's a matter of...not having much faith for myself.

*This is where being blind is such a nuisance to her. If she could do what she wanted, she'd be up off her stool, her arms tightly around him, wanting to make him feel so much better. But as it is, she turns slightly in her chair towards him, a hand colliding with his plate as she tries to reach for him*

Aya... I'm sorry...

*Her voice is gentle, and very apologetic - especially considering how frustrated she'd been a moment ago*

But - you must see that you've done good, too. Everyone deserves to be happy... And, well, as far as I'm concerned... You've done nothing but really good by me. I'd be a mess, and I mean, really...if it weren't for you.

[The plate movement breaks him out of his reverie, and as Selphie reaches over for him, he helps by placing a hand onto hers. There is a solemn smile on his face as he squeezes her hand.]

It's mostly my fault for upsetting you. I do see the good in helping others, and it's a good feeling to be able to do so when others can't do so for themselves.

*Selphie's not sure what to mention about the upsetting part - she understands him much more now, and she knows better where he was coming from. But as for his caring for her and to what extent, she's still not really sure where she stands on that, and if she's honest that's what upsets her most*

Well, good. You just haveta let yourself be happy some more. While you're here you might as well take advantage of all the time you have to concentrate on being happy, on doing what you want.

You're right... [He still thinks it'll be tough, because it's something he isn't used to. But if their date was any indication, then he'll deal well enough.] You'll help though, right?

*Carefully, Selphie reaches out her other hand too, though she has to be careful not to lean too far forward on her stool. Then she tilts her head at his question, wishing that she could see him..*

Me? Of course, I will! Whatever makes you happy, Aya, just lemme know, and I'll go find it!

*Because she's thinking of things like salted caramel cotton candy - that worked*

[He brushes a thumb over the back of her hand that reaches out for him.]

How about you find your sandwich? [Aya chuckles, because it would make him happy if she ate!]

*She manages a small smile, encouraged by the way he touched her hand. Picking up her sandwich would require letting go of his hands, which she didn't really want to do, only very slowly pulling back. But when she does, Selphie picks up half of the sandwich and takes another bite*

There's tea, too. [She was pretty intent on there being tea, so...] Just in front of you. [If she reaches for it, he'll hold it in place so she could grab the handle without knocking it over.]
