Being an adult is a lot different than growing up.

And yes. I didn't build it for a social event, Dualscar. So long as it can mimic the same basic idea behind your gills, then it could be covered in adorable meowbeast images for all I could care.

Speaking of, what does the meowbeast we're looking for look like?

It's small and black. And it wwas last seen in the plaza. [Which is where he's heading now, swimming easily when it's necessary and sloshing through the water when it's low enough.]

Well, such beasts usually have some decent self preservation instincts. I imagine it should still be alright.

[Darkleer follows after, and manages, to his credit, to not be a complete floundering failure in the water like most other landtrolls. After his past auspitice... introduced him to the benefits of learning how to do it, he made sure to be moderately good at it. Besides, it keeps a body STRONG.]

Hopefully it is, or my friend might be disappointed. [He eyes Darkleer] Interestin'. Howw'd you learn to swwim?

[Darkleer is doing his best to keep his head above the water- he may have a water breathing device, but he doubts the cat is going to be underwater. Hopefully anyway.]

Seadweller I auspitized for, remember? She insisted I learn.

And by that, I mean she pushed me overboard into the ocean on her ship. It... was a learning experience.

[He raises an eyebrow, amused by the image]

Wwell, you're lucky you didn't fuckin' drowwn under those circumstances.

[They enter the plaza, the water deep enough now to force them to paddle at times, especially to avoid the sharp coral at the edges of the paths. A mew brings Dualscar's head up, and he lifts an arm to point at a small black shape up on the coral]

[At the mewl, Darkleer tries to pull ahead just a bit.]

[He holds back a bit, craning his neck to look for the cat. A bedraggled black shape peers down at them]

Wwhat, you think it'd try to take a bite out a me?

Well, you don't exactly seem to have the best of effect on... cats.

[Smirk] I havve a pretty fuckin good effect on some a them, actually.

So howw are wwe goin' to get the pouncebeast down?

I think that's giving yourself a bit too much credit, considering cats often eat fish.

I think I have something in my sylladex that might encourage it. [He swims forward a little until he manages to feel something underneath his feet just enough for him to balance himself. A small little bag pops out from his sylladex, and he holds it up. Catnip- something you carry around when your 'daughter' and moirail are both cat trolls.]

No cat's evver gonna eat me.

[He frowns as he watches. The kitten sniffs, extending his little head out as far as he can to try to catch a whiff of that tempting treat]

Of course not.

[Tone of the disbeliever! Darkleer just continues to make small encouraging noises, waving the treat enticingly.]

[The kitten climbs slowly down, sniffing and finally takes a lick of the treat]

Wwhy are you sayin' it like that?

Hush, I'm trying to coax the cat.

[He carefully tries to pet the kitten, doing his best to encourage it into his hands.]

Besides, I hardly think I'm using a strange tone of voice.

[Dualscar huffs and falls silent, then walks up beside Darkleer. He's starting to wonder why he even came, when Darkleer's doing everything.

He reaches up, holding out his hand, and the kitten mews and hops into his palm, snagging a bit of the catnip with his paw and settling in to drool over it enthusiastically]

Ugh...wwhat's wwrong wwith it?

Well it is an animal, Dualscar, drooling and such is not particularly outside of its nature.

This is wwhy I prefer huntin' animals to rescuing them. [The cat is industriously licking his wrist now. Sigh]
