For those of you who might give a fuck, Jake English is gone from the bubble again.
The kid's going to earn himself a title of flighty broad, at this rate.
Maybe the third time's the charm, if our "great and powerful God" deigns to deliver him a third time.
I rather suspect that it's too busy quoting Dirty Harry at us and our delightful circumstance.

You make it into anything yet, or is it just scrap at this point?

I'm working on something, but most of it's still scrap.

That's fine with me.
I can compare the raw material to the finished state.
I don't often get the chance to use materials that haven't been previously manufactured in some way or another.
It's hella inconvenient at times.

I got a few small raw pieces. Which was all they had in that state. But everything else I got has already been used.
Feel free to drop by whenever. Don't have any solid plans right now, so I'm around.

[And sure enough, it doesn't take Dirk long to make his way over to the demigod house, thanks to it only being a few doors down. Once he's there, he'll knock on the garage door, since that's where he assumes Leo is.]

[Without looking over or completely stopping what he's doing, Leo pushes a button to automatically open the side door to the garage. He'd made and installed the device earlier that week. There was no reason to ask who it was.]

Hey, Dirk.

[He's sitting at the desk that he'd recently relocated to the garage from his bedroom. It was getting a little crowded in there. In the center of the garage is a small but decently sized pile of celestial bronze. Next to it are some random scrap parts that he'd gotten from some shop. The only furniture in there besides his desk is a shelving unit with a bunch of random projects he's finished, others he's only just started, some tools, the Archimedes sphere and the scrolls.]

[He's working on the gift for Nanaki, adding a few finishing touches to the SFC stand portion of the project.]

Yo, Lebro.

[That one's kind of bad, even by his standards, but he's not the most focused at coming up with a better one at the moment.

He turns one eye to what Leo's doing, but goes to stand by the pile of celestial bronze, hands in his pockets.]

Anything I need to know before touching this shit?

Call me Lebro again and I'll call you Dork instead of Dirk.

[Leo turns to look at Dirk standing near the pile.] Just be careful of any sharp edges? It's not supposed to be able to harm you, but I've also never seen a mortal try to injure themselves with celestial bronze. Don't want to rule out that possibility.

Better than Dick. I've been called both.

[Drunk Roxy is a great friend, really.

Dirk raises an eyebrow, but he doesn't go hunting through the pile looking for sharp edges.]

I doubt it could kill if it's just a small cut, but if you haven't experimented on it, I'm not about to go stab-happy.

[He makes a mental note of that.

She sounds like it.]

I doubt it would kill you. It's not supposed to be able to at all. It's supposed to go through you like you were a ghost.

[He gets up and sets the project he's working on down. He approaches the pile and roots around in there until he finds a sharp piece. Picking it up in one hand he looks to Dirk.] Mind if I show you?

[Sober Roxy is also a great friend. She just makes those kinds of typos on purpose.]

Sure, why the hell not. Just don't aim for anything vital.

Don't worry. I wasn't planning on it. [Jokingly he adds-] Your neck's not vital, is it?

[He doesn't wait for the response though and makes a slicing motion at Dirk's arm, the celestial bronze going through him exactly as he described.]

[Dirk watches as Leo swings the piece of bronze at his arm. It's impossible not to flinch a little as it gets close, but he keeps himself from pulling completely out of the way. It's mind over matter in situations like that, and in the end there's no harm done, anyway. He lifts his arm to examine the unbroken skin.]

Damn. There go all my hopes of birth by immaculate conception. I suppose the lack of miracles and angels heralding my arrival might have been a sign.

[Leo bursts out laughing at the comment.]

Didn't know you were harboring any. Anyway, I don't think demigods are born with that much fanfare. Or any, really.

[He tosses the piece of celestial bronze back into the heap.]

Makes sense, I suppose. Greek Gods aren't known for that kind of shit, are they.

[Dirk goes back to examining the pile, but with those special properties demonstrated, it doesn't have much of his interest.]

Nope. But they're good at making babies and leaving them to be raised by single parents.

[He notices that Dirk isn't interested in the pile anymore and motions for him to head back over to the desk.]

Anyway. It's not complete yet, but if you want to see it in action, I'll show you. I just need to make the casing for it.

[Dirk nods, then tucks his hands into his pockets and wanders back toward the desk.]

Do you even need to ask, bro? Hell yes, I'd like to.

Cool.

[He grabs his SFC from his belt and places it on top of the stand.] So that's the purpose of it. To hold the SFC so you can video chat hands free.

[He then puts the SFC back on his belt and presses a tiny button on one of the legs of the stand and the whole thing folds and shrinks down to something small enough to fit inside a medium sized cellphone charm. Or in this case and SFC charm.] Ta-da!

Pretty handy. You going to keep trying to sell this one too?

[Dirk doesn't reach out for the stand, because it's a simple enough concept to understand, even if the folding up at the touch of a button is more advanced than most SFC accessories would probably get.]

You know... I hadn't even thought about that. [He considers this train of thought for a moment.] Might be a good idea to see if anyone else is interested.

This one's a birthday gift for Nanaki. Davesprite told me her birthday was coming up so I thought I'd make her a gift.

[Dirk raises an eyebrow.]

Nanaki?

[Guess who hasn't told his bro anything about that? If your guess is "a certain feathery asshole," you'd be right.]

Yeah, her birthday's the 19th.

[Well, now he knows.]

Hmm. Interesting.

[And now Davesprite's likely going to be accosted.]

Oh, dude. I just remembered something. I was gonna show you the Archimedes scroll notes. I finished going over them the other day.

[He gets up and goes to grab the scrolls off the shelf and brings them over to the desk. He unrolls one of them, several loose sheets of paper rolled up inside with it. The notes are in English and mostly spelled correctly, but there's words here and there that are jumbled. The right letters are all there, just some of them switched around. They occur more frequently in the sections where the writing is a little sloppier, like he was rushing to write it all down. Dyslexia can be a pain.]

[Dirk wastes no time in looking through the notes, just skimming for the moment. The misspellings are noticeable, but not enough to hinder reading or to comment on, in Dirk's opinion.]

Mind if I borrow these? Or should I just stick around and read them here?
